Reminders not showing up notification as widget? Used 'edit' and reminders arent there? Set a couple and I would really like to see them. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Is this while you are on speakerphone or have a headset (wired or bluetooth)? Or is this while you are just talking normally using the earpiece by your ear?

If the phone is by my ear and the proximity sensor turns the screen off and I push the sleep/wake button, nothing happens.

If the screen is on while using the phone's earpiece, pushing the sleep/wake button will end the call.

If I am on speaker phone, pushing the sleep/wake button will end the call.

Edit: on speaker phone, the screen will turn off without ending the call. I swear yesterday it was ending the call. I guess you can't turn the screen off when not using speakerphone?

When on speakerphone, or using a headset or some sound system (wired or bluetooth), then the sleep button should just turn the screen off, when the regular earpiece is being used then it will end the call. The idea is that the screen will already be off when you are using the earpiece because the screen will be by your ear and the proximity sensor will turn it off on its own.

Makes sense. Thanks for the help!

I'm pretty sure I looked everywhere in my settings app for this, but does anyone know if there is a way to enable time stamps for each iMessage or sms?

Swipe to the left when in a text thread. That will reveal the time stamps.

Ahhh!! Thank you so much! It was driving me crazy not seeing the times! :D I've been absent from iOS for 2 years so it's been a little bit of a learning curve.

here's a question. i downloaded a winrar file and i have extracted it. the file is a mkv file but when i try to play it. it won't play. what am i missing?

What apps are you using to complete these tasks?

do i need apps? shouldn't it just work? my old note3 just worked again what am i missing or better yet what do i need??

Android has a built in app to play mkv files. Unfortunately iOS does not. You need to get an app that can play mkv files, you could search for mkv in the app store.

thanks i will give that a try and post my findings tomorrow:)

Locking the phone...

what are my options?

Number Password?
Letter Password?
Pattern?
Fingerprint?

With the 5s and above, you can use your fingerprint (Touch ID) along with either a four digit password, or a longer alpha numeric password. Pattern passwords are Android, not iOS.

ok that worked. so now i have another stupid question for the members.
i have an adapter that plugs into the charge port of my iphone6 and the other end has a usb port. but when i plug in something to that port like say a memory stick. my iphone doesn't see it. so i ask the members again what am i doing wrong or what do i need so that i can read the memory stick?
also i would like to transfer files back and forth from phone to memory stick.

We really cannot do that directly on iOS, but the workaround is to download an app called Transfer.
Transfer allows you connect your iOS device to your desktop and transfer files back-and-forth and you can then transfer from the desktop to your USB stick.
I have had great success with pictures I'm not sure about other files.

Automatic Downloads question

I have automatic downloads turned OFF, for everything. I used to have them turned on, but then I got an ios update downloaded using my mobile data (on my ipad, via my personal hotspot, blowing my data limit out of the water!!)
My phone doesn't do this, presumably because the phone knows it's using mobile data instead of wifi, but when the ipad is connected this way it does not.
But, even with auto updates all turned off on my ipad it still downloads ios updates automatically when it's plugged in and on wifi. Regardless of where it's getting it's "wifi" from.

Is there any way to stop this? Having to turn off my personal hotspot all the time relies on me remembering (not very reliable) and is a pita.
I would much prefer a setting to be able to control this for me!
thanks in advance :)

----------

Oh... I would also love a way to be able to not allow my computer to use my phone data, just because I connect it with a cable! Is there a way to block that?
thanks :)

i have another stupid question.
first let me start off by saying that my iphone6 is JB.
ok so i have one of these lightning to usb A. cables (see attch pic)
when i plug it into my phone and put a device like a usb memory stick on the other end. how come it doesn't work? is there an app that i need?? i know the usb memory card is good cause it works in note4. what am i doing wrong?

Didn't find a mention of this in this thread and I must be blind because I cannot find the setting for Siri raise to activate/talk (or whatever that feature was called) in iOS8. In iOS7 I used to be able to just place the phone up to my face and siri would activate, it was handy for places where having siri over the speakerphone was inappropriate... any help is appreciated.

It's no longer there as of iOS 8.
