If you read all the instructions in the watch app, it explains all of this.

1. Actually, this is brilliant and makes a ton of sense. If you are using your phone, you are obviously getting your notifications there. There is no need to get the same notification on your watch. Also, if you aren't wearing the watch the notification will not be pushed to the watch either. It's truly ingenious how smart they handle the notifications.

I'm loving this thing.

BTW: can you reorder glances?

I agree, particularly as the watch is marketed as an accessory device to the iPhone not a standalone one. If I'm using my iPhone I don't need to get the same notification on my watch. Something like the iPad on MacBook is a standalone device hence getting the same notification regardless of whether you are using the phone or not.

It is pretty neat I have to say. Although I was totally going to get one I was a bit like whatever Android has had smart watches for years. But Apple have clearly taken their time and made a good device and that's what makes it the best smart watch on the market. The way it handles notifications is an example of this.

What is everyone doing with their watch tonight? Or until a dock purchase? I was thinking that my watch might get knocked off my nightstand so maybe I should put it in its case at night.

As I charge it overnight I leave it resting inside the case it came with. I don't cover it, just use the bottom half of the case and leave it on my bookcase.

I went out for a run earlier, but left my Apple Watch at home (did not want the leather strap absorbing sweat, and I'm sticking with my Garmin watch for exercise for now)...anyway, I did take my iPhone with me, so obviously the connection between the watch & phone was lost whilst I was out running.

When I got home & put my watch back on, I expected the watch and phone to re-connect automatically, but the watch had the red iPhone (with a line through it) icon at the top of the screen, thus, indicating no connection between the watch & phone. The only way I could get the watch to re-connect with the phone was to completely power off the watch (& power back on again).

Does anyone know if there is anyway to re-establish connection between watch & phone, without having to power the phone off & back on again?

I'm doing the same thing. Now I'm rethinking if I should have ordered a charging stand. I kind of like using the box the SS came in. I also wonder how stable the watch will be on one of those pedestal stands.

Ask your stupid questions in this thread! :)

This may be a glitch. Mine went out of range and gave the red crossed out icon, but when it got back in range it reconnected instantly without needing to do anything...

Here's a stupid question

Can I AirPlay from music on the watch 2gb to the Apple TV ? Apple watch as the source

Is not letting me do that , I can only AirPlay music on my watch from the phone not the apple watch as source

When I place a call from my Apple Watch, the audio goes to my iPhone. I'd like to try having a phone conversation entirely on the watch. Is there a setting that I need to change/enable? What am i doing wrong?

Open the watch app on your phone, go to the maps option and turn on "show in glances"

With that said, it was on by default for me.

I have maps glances on, but it just shows my current location (which is pretty useless). I want it to dynamically calculate how long it will take to get to a location (eg. home).

FYI what I see is this -

Anyone know how to turn off the watch screen after seeing who called?

1. Receive a call
2. Watch taps
3. Glance who is calling
4. Put the wrist down soon after w/o answering
5. Screen still on until call goes to VM- any way to turn off the screen as soon as the wrist is put down?

My wife's preference is to solely use the watch's haptic/tactic feature to know incoming calls rather than the phone itself to keep it as private as possible. So we've set the phone in silence and watch in tap mode only for calls. But the screen staying on for the full length of the call (happens only when glanced) kind of spoils that.

Is there a way to use the Music app and Now Playing Glance with iTunes on your Mac or Apple TV? Or rather, is there a way to select an album, song or playlist in iTunes or Apple TV from the Watch? I thought that's what the Remote app would do, but not that I can tell.

Put your hand over the watch face to decline the call.

Is there a way to make voice memos on the watch?

Is there a way to hide apps you don't want to use?

Does the watch mirror the sounds your iphone makes e.g. I have old car horn as my text tone and old telephone as my ringer, which i sometimes switch out for a custom sound (a helicopter starting up - if I need to have a sleep and am waiting for a call - that will wake the dead :p). Or does the watch simply have a set of stock sounds it plays when each event comes in.

I turned off Automatic Downloads in the iPhone app under General, but every app update I do on my iPhone or any app I install, if they have a watch app, it automatically installs on my watch. Just a bug, or am I missing a setting? Thx.

The latter. I use the Typewriters sound on my phone, it's a simple ping on the watch.

Only the non-Apple ones can be hidden from the main app screen (so you can't get rid of Stocks, for example) It's up to you what you put into Glances though.

Am I right to assume that the only way to "leaves an app / return is to actually tap the crown? basically like the home button on the iPhone? I don't want to miss out on an easier way if there is one lol

Sorry if this question has been asken and answered before, but can the watch switch to tell military time?

I find the screen doesn't stay on for very long. I've read the manual from beginning to end (i'm a loser like that) and I can't find the answer.

Is there a way to set the duration for the screen to stay on? I want it to stay on for 30 secs or so.

Can it answer FaceTime Audio calls?

Can it answer or does it even ring for FaceTime video calls (which of course would only get the sound across).

Anyone tried that? I use FaceTime a lot and it would be nice to answer the call on the watch and resume it on the iPad/iPhone/OSX Device

Thanks. I believe that just mutes the call. Also I do not want to decline - just switch off the screen.

Save making a new thread just for this:

Q: When did Apple Watch finally "click" for you. I.e. what moment did it shift from a cool novelty, to something you genuinely see as a useful tool that is deserving of the hype Apple have generated for it?

My answer: I'm not there yet. But then again, I've only had it for about 18 hours and apart from setting it up, all I've really done with it is go for my morning run and time how long my tea was brewing while I made eggs:p

I hope that moment comes for me soon. People have compared it to the iPad at launch, but that on the other hand was useful from the go (IMHO).

Stand alerts

Is it supposed to be giving me a notification every time it thinks I've gone an hour without standing, or only sometimes? I often look at my watch in the afternoon and find two "idle" hours earlier in the day that I didn't know about, and wasn't aware of any alert about. I wonder whether I am not feeling some alerts, or if there are no alerts sometimes. I also seem to be missing some alerts for emails, though they do not feel weak when I do feel them.

My mail sometimes doesn't push properly to my watch. Ie: I pick up my phone and notice I have a mail message but my watch didn't notify me. But other times it's fine. I've played around with the settings in the watch app on my phone but it stills seems inconstant. Anyone else have this issue?

This goes a long way to clear up questions.....
http://help.apple.com/watch/

also another thing don't tell you, and that is is that if you are using your phone in anyway shape or form, and it's not locked and asleep, it won't pass notifications to the watch because it assumes you can read them right on your phone. That may also apply to using your iPad but I'm not sure…
