AT&T Alone Sees 200,000 iPhone 4S Preorders in First 12 Hours, Their Most Successful

I think a lot of people were waiting for an iPhone 5. Upgraders will buy it for the a dual band or the camera. Others like me will just wait for the iPhone 5 because we already have the 4. I personally want to wait until Verizon has an LTE iPhone. My two year is up in the summer so I'll just wait to switch back to Verizon.
One of those was mine.
Order status already says "Prepared for shipment". It's a White one, too.
Really? What time did you order? My bank locked my account because AT&T made 3 charges. One of $ 0, another of $1 and another of $256 so it got labeled as unusual activity. I cleared it up around 12 yesterday so I wonder if that could have affected my shipping status.
AT&T has charged you already? Odd. My CC remains uncharged, and I ordered far before anyone else. However, the rep looked at my order and saw nothing wrong. He said I was going to get it despite it saying "pending."
When you think about it these numbers aren't that impressive. It was available on 3 carriers this year. With that being said, anyone know where I can get a case for the 4s? haha. The ones advertised at the bottom of this page look kind of cool.

Yeah I remember reading that you will be charged once it ships. When I woke up in the morning after preordering, I checked my bank online to see if my direct deposit was available and I saw the charge from AT&T.

Anyone else get this email 3 times? I got two yesterday (11:09, 1:12) and one today (1:16). Should I be worried? Am I getting 3 phones? Just seems like a weird glitch that has me slightly worried...

I ordered Friday morning, and when I checked my online banking this morning (Saturday), I was charged $214 from AT&T.

So does Apple still charge you to sync your iPhone contacts to their cloud? Mobile Me is a tad pricey for just that, don't you think?

I ordered at 4:45AM EST on 10/7. Glad to know I'm not the only one...
My order also says backorder, yet I received that email saying it has been sent to the warehouse for shipment... When you scroll over the term "Backorder" they define it as "Your entire order has been backordered and will be shipped at a later date" I'm taking that to mean that since this is a pre-order and they can't deliver it till 10/14 that it is backordered until then.
Edit: on AT&T's website it says "Pre-ordered devices will ship on or around Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011." So taking their definition of backordered means it will ship at a later date ie. 10/13.

It's not about one product. It's the latest product from a company who always makes incredible decisions. Its an ongoing momentum, not a single product or specs.
Plus, its about contract. I had to skip iPhone 4 cause of a contract. Some people are going to buy iPhone 4s cause of their contract.
Now, if someone has an iPhone 3GS, and is going to keep it another 8-12 months and wait until iPhone 5, or switch to android forever....that might be interesting.

Because most people know the better network and don't fall for Verizons gimmick ADs. Verizons network is substantially inferior, slower, and single threaded.

As much as I'm pissed that I can't preorder the 16GB phone online anymore, I am happy for Sprint for being sold out. That means that interest is at least as big or even bigger than expected. I don't expect 'out of this world' numbers for Sprint, YET, but I see their customers slowly but surely trading up from an Android to an iPhone.

Do you call 30Mbps data speeds a gimmick? It is iPhone that is starting to look more and more like gimmick these days.
You do realize the new Siri includes a good bit of capabilities not supported in the current app?
For some of the tasks that are demoed it seems to me that it may indeed require more processing power.
However, I do wish they kept a Siri Lite app for simple voice to text and basic capabilities.
So I guess the SGS2 wasn't the iPhone killer?? Shocker!

Whatever. You haters are going to hate. I'm on AT&T and going to be upgrading from an iPhone 3G to the 4S. Might seem like a small upgrade for you folks on the iPhone 4, who have the luxury of upgrading each year, but for someone like me who has had their iPhone for 3+ years now, this is a major step forward.
No the basic functionality is free! I believe you start paying when you want to stream music other than iTunes purchased music to your devices.
So you can "stream"/sync any iTunes purchases, sync emails, sync contacts, basically anything. Up to 5GB. When you start streaming all your music and going over the 5gb you start paying.

10GB / 15GB total $20/year
20GB / 25GB total $40/year
50GB / 55GB total $100/year

i do get their point, and would even agree to a certain degree about them saying that if apple would have just labeled the iPhone4 as iPhone 5 it would sell.. what i don't get it what is wrong with iPhone4S on its own?
i was one of those hoping for 4" redesigned iPhone5 but i wasn't disappointed with iPhone4S, it was the keynote that i was disappointed with and now i know the reason for those people being half-hearted..
Redesigns deserve new numbers.
This is a simple "upgrade" or improvement like 3G to 3GS.
