Thank you. Do you know if I need to fill out the the trade in info now or after I get my new Phone?

After you get the new phone. Once you start the trade in you have X amount of days to send the device in. So if you do it now, you only have say 30 days to return it, but if you bought the 7+ Jet Black which now isn't shipping till December for later ATT orders you would be screwed

Thanks for the info. Got the matte black. Shipping late October.

Same. Ordered mine, at an AT&T store since they didn't receive a single 7+, on 9/16 at 8:16AM EST, iP 7+ 128GB Matte Black, got shipping dates of 10/21-10/28

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this deal end 9/30

You just have to order the new phone before 9/30: "Once you receive your new iPhone you'll have 30-days to get the promotional trade-in value for your eligible iPhone. The trade-in promotion code is required for online trade-in. The promotion code is valid for 30 days after receiving the new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, even if you receive the iPhone after September 30, 2016."

There's no official end date for those of us in the USA. The 9/30 date is for Puerto Rico.

The trade in starts when you receive the new phone, not when you ordered it. To qualify for the promotion though, you have to order it within the promotion deadline

Has anybody traded in a scratch phone? Does att have issues with not perfect phones? Im curious how they will handle jet black trade ins.

I noticed that Verizon's offer is as follows:

Your savings will be credited to your account as recurring payments over 24 months beginning within 2-3 cycles. iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are eligible for promotional value of $650. iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone SE are eligible for promotional value of $400.

$400 of value for an iPhone 5 is quite a bit!

AT&T's offer on the other hand only seems to include 6/6S devices for trade in.

Has anyone tried seeing if AT&T will match Verizon's offer on the trade-in for an older iPhone 5? Perhaps the retention department?

Nice find, I'm calling tomorrow as I have a 5C to get rid of, I'll post update to what they say. Calling it now though, I waste an hour to get a no we don't match that offer
Do you have a link that shows that offer?

It's a retarded offer. You can't upgrade the line for 24 months or they won't continue to give the credit each month. Can't pay the balance off either. You're still better off selling your phone and getting a subsidized phone.

Well, if you upgrade after 12 months on Next Every Year, you'll still get $325 worth of credits which is still more than most trade-in services are offering. Depending on the model, you could get more selling it yourself, but it's still not a terrible deal IMO. As to the subsidized phone, I don't think AT&T does that any more - if they do, I'm not sure how the math works out, but maybe it would be better.

Make that 240 or so in credits. They take 3 billing periods to start up. Most trade in services are ripoffs but they'll still give you more than 240. Keep in mind, this is if you plan on upgrading in a year. If you do, this is a bad offer. If you plan on keeping the phone for 2+ years, then it's ok although you're still better off with a subsidy (at verizon).

Whatever the case, it's sort of misleading and they're all doing it. I would be weary of taking an offer that takes 2 years to pay you and essentially puts you on a contract. Sell your phone.

No, I don't think that's right. While there is a 3 month delay, they will give you 3 months worth of credits that first month.

That I'm not sure of but not going to do this to find out. It'd be a good idea to get them to verify that before doing the offer tho.

Agreed, although I think the fine print of the offer contains the language that guarantees you 1/24th of the $650 for each month of Next Every Year that you complete.

"Credits are applied in equal amounts towards installment payments over entire agreement term."

Also worth noting that the 3 month delay on the credits is "up to" 3 months and that if you pick the regular Next plan instead of Next Every Year, it will take 30 months to get the full $650.

AT&T states it right in their terms and conditions as does Verizon. It's been shown on here or on the preorder thread a bunch of times.

It's a pretty good deal. I posted my flawless 128GB iPhone 6 on Craigslist. It's like new since it was replaced by Apple two months ago. Original box included, with all accessories brand new. Unlocked, in a college town full of foreign students. The best offer I've had is $410. I'm thinking I'll just trade it in on this promotion. I get at least $325 - and if my wife keeps her phone for more than a year, which she usually does - we could get the full $650.

If you're happy with your carrier there is absolutely no reason to do this. If you're thinking of switching then maybe you need to study it more for your particular situation, but if you're happy, take the plunge. It's better than the old subsidized plan days since back then you had to pay $100 or more even for the smallest memory new generation iPhone when using your upgrade. This plan effectively gives you a new smallest memory new generation iPhone.

No, it's still a garbage offer. 450 subsidy plus selling your phone for 400-500 will always be better than junk like this. Keep in mind, any trade in service will give you 300 or so for your phone which is basically all this is if you plan on upgrading next year.

Misleading offers like this are for the clueless masses. Gotta love them though.

I think calling this a "garbage" offer is unnecessary. Sure, there are reasons not to take this offer, and, if you're motivated to sell your phone on your own and/or are willing to lock yourself into a 2-year contract with Verizon to get the subsidized phone, you could do better. But, not all of us are interested in going through the trouble of selling our phone on eBay or craigslist - I've done it in the past, and I don't enjoy it. I am also not interested in a 2-year contract with Verizon. I like the flexibility of Next Every Year. At the moment, I plan to stick it out for 2 years to get the full $650, but if I decide to trade-in in one year, I will still have gotten $325, which is definitely more than any trade-in service is offering at the moment. I happen to have a trade-in locked in with Nextworth for $440 because I locked it in before the 7 was released, and I'm still going with this deal, because I plan on keeping my 7 for 2 years, as I don't like upgrading the first year of a total redesign.

But, like I said, there are definitely reasons not to do this offer. I could get the money for the trade/sell up front, as opposed to having to get pro-rated amounts every month. Who wouldn't prefer money up front as opposed to having it spaced out over 12 months? And, there is a certain amount of trust you have to have with your carrier to send in the phone and trust that they'll start applying the credits as they say they will. As with all things like this, there will be customers who fall through the cracks and have to start down the rabbit whole of trying to resolve it with customer service - I can understand being hesitant, especially compared to trade-in services like Gazelle and Nextworth that have developed pretty good reputations.

So, I understand if someone doesn't want to take advantage of the offer, but I think it's silly to call it garbage and/or disparage people who have chosen to do so.

Again, only requirement here is that you keep the line active and keep up the device payments for 2 years. If you want to upgrade next year, you can do so (e.g. sell iPhone 7 and buy 2017 iPhone model for full price) while continuing to pay for device installment to continue receiving the credits. Pretty much if you're smart about how you upgrade next year and don't need to switch carriers, you could essentially be getting iPhone 7 for just the tax.

If you plan on keeping the phone for entire 2 years, then this is pretty much a no-brainer.

Speak for yourself. I can virtually guarantee you I've looked more closely at how these offers work than you have. Like I said - I have as good an example of an iPhone 6 as you could possibly have, for sale in a strong market, and I'm being offered $410 for it. Why would I not take the $650 that AT&T will give me when I have no intention of changing my service provider in the next 2 years?
