That would make it on record so should work. I want to keep my 6 a bit to make sure there are no sound problems with the new 7.

cool - to play it safe i'll go to an ATT store today. i assume that if there are problems with the 7 that apple will make it right; this is one of the reasons i prefer to buy from apple.

So I dont have to value my trade prior to receiving the 7. I was going to switch and trade in my verizon iphone 6+, but for some reason, even though I was charged for my payoff last week, its not showing up in there system that it is paid off. They said it should clear next week.

Agree with you. I've always bought from Apple before. But if say your new 7 has a problem, will they give you some loaner phone while they try to get a replacement 7? Never been in this position. That's why I was thinking of holding onto my 6 until I tested it

i don't know, but i assume they would order a replacement for you (if they are not in stock) and then just swap it when the replacement comes in. at this point all ip7s are new, but under ordinary circumstances i think you receive a refurb phone when you have a warranty replacement.

i mean, if there's some hardware defect that's causing this problem it's going to be a very big deal, so i'm sure they will come up with a procedure for swapping them.

My experience trying to use this program:

I was able to order a 7+ 32gb MB yesterday through the Apple Store App for same day pickup here in San Antonio. I paid full price through the app, then decided to try to switch to ATT Next at pickup to take advantage of this trade-in deal. I called apple support first to verify I could do this, and was told flat out that all I could do was cancel my order and lose the phone, then try to order another one. I declined their offer to cancel the order and went to the Apple Store for my appointment.

The Apple employee at the store also said that I was stuck paying full price, and my only other option was to cancel the order and try again whenever they got new inventory. She refused to cancel the order and then sell me the same phone through next, as some on here have been able to do. She did say that I had 13 days to return the iPhone if I found another one that I could buy through Next. I went ahead and bought the phone full price, just in case I was unable to find another one any time soon.

At 12:01 that night I found an Apple Store that had the same phone available (7+ 32gb MB) so I completed the sale through the Apple Store App for same day pickup, with ATT Next. Went to the store at my appt time, returned the original iPhone I paid full price for, and walked out with my new iPhone purchased through the Next Program. I then went to an ATT store, traded in my old 6s+, and was told the payments would start to show up on my 3rd bill.

interesting. this implies that they can't (or maybe just won't) activate a contract-free phone on next. way further upthread i had posted that i did exactly this 2 years ago with a contract-free iphone6. perhaps because the next plan was new they made a mistake. i never tested if the phone was remotely locked to ATT, but i am going to try soon with a t-mobile prepaid sim.
[doublepost=1474761927][/doublepost]oh and by the way, the wait time at my local store was just about an hour (with 15 people ahead of me in the walk-up queue). since this is ending tomorrow i expect that ATT stores are going to get crazier and crazier. if it is possible to make an appointment that would be the way to go. they do text/call you when you are getting near the head of the queue so you don't have to stay in the store the whole time, but still.

sure enough the paperwork shows $155 trade-in value, however, the "fall2016trade" promo code is shown at the bottom of the receipt.

I called the ATT store I had originally signed up for my iPhone delivery and found out:

1. Tomorrow, the 25th, is the deadline for purchasing the phone (as we suspected). If you buy your iPhone 7 after that, you are not eligible to turn in your 6 for the $650 credit.

2. He told me they were just an ATT retail store and I need to go to a corporate store to turn in the phone because I bought mine through Apple. The corporate ATT stores are the ones who can access the record.

3. He confirmed that I had 30 days from when I purchased and picked up my phone to do this trade in. If you have a lag time between purchase and delivery, then it is from when you receive your phone. (thx cps)

4. He recommended making an appt. :)

I really want to do this but I am nervous about ordering two iPhones from ATT. I've never done it and have always purchased my phones through Apple for the reasons stated above.
[doublepost=1474771718][/doublepost]I have one phone on the payment plan still, anyone know if I could still do the trade in?

You may wait longer to get them but as long as you're trading in a 6 or better they're basically free if you order by tomorrow and stick with them for 2 years.

You have to pay it off. Not sure how long it takes to get through the system to let you order the new one on Next. Timeline's going to be really tight now.

Thanks for your response. I was reading through the posts and wanted to see if I understood everything correctly. I won't be able to upgrade for two years, is that right? I'll be receiving credits for 30 months?

With the iPhone 6 plus we have it's worthless because it's only 16gb and won't sell for much.

You will be able to upgrade any time you want; just pay off the remaining balance. Of course you then lose the subsequent credits. So it does make the value of the plan questionable in a year, but if you have a base model 6 at present then you likely would still be slightly ahead of the game. Best results of course are if you stick with it.

Not sure why anyone would select the 30 month Next plan; most seem to choose the 24 month plan.

Agreed. Choose the 24-month deal and within 12 months the phone is half paid off. At that time you can upgrade to the new iPhone 8 (but will lose your next 12 months in credits) or you keep it and once 24 months is up it's yours to do with what you wish.

Just so you know, I bought my phone today from the Apple store but on the Next plan. You can do all this through the Apple website (this is not part of the IUP plan). I chose "pick up in store" because I found a store that had a phone in stock that I would accept. So you don't have to buy your phone from ATT directly in order to get this trade in offer. You just have to fit the other requirements.

But I've heard Apple people say they don't get shipments on Sunday, so I don't know if any new stock will show up tonight/tomorrow. If you want the trade in deal, then get some order in as tomorrow is the last day for the purchase (even though that has not been well publicized).

Thanks for all the info. I just ordered an iPhone 7 for my kid via the Apple Store app on ATT next 12 months. Will pick up tmrw at an apple store and then go to att to trade in the iPhone 6. Hopefully will go smoothly. The line is under my husbands name. I wonder if I can do the trade in or will he need t go as well.

This is Not Correct. Here are the promotion details from AT&T: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1123971/print

Here's the relevant line: "Once you receive your new iPhone you'll have 30-days to get the promotional trade-in value for your eligible iPhone."

Yes, good. In my case it was true because I bought the phone and received it the same time.

Better check before you go there. At the Apple store, for example, they would not let a spouse pick up his wife's phone yesterday because they had not notified them ahead.

Turned in my iPhone 6 plus to ATT today. Made an appt but they weren't busy on a Monday morning anyway. Went perfectly smooth. The code that he pointed out to be is not the FALL one that's used for mail ins, but a series of numbers (that I can't see right now). He did bring up the $400 direct tv offer but it was just a mention. This worked out great for me.

Interesting. I'll need to look at my paperwork from my in-store trade-in when I get home; I know mine had "fall2016trade" on it but I think also a bunch of numbers. Hopefully one of us is not in for an ugly surprise...

My paperwork had the "FALL" code on mine ( where the trade in amount is reduced to zero) but not on the receipt.

Mine too for both the phones I traded in at two separate locations.

My store trade-in for two phones also had the "FALL" code on the receipt.

I think with both of us on record as having bought the 7 before yesterday's deadline and turning in the phone (so quickly, well within that deadline), they're going to have to honor the up to $650 credit. I did mine at a corporate store, btw. I'll check my paperwork tonight and report back.

I do all mine online. You just have to use the promotional code when you fill out the form. The links below are all you need. No need to deal with people who don't know what's going on.

https://tradein.att.com/#/start-a-buyback/discover-device-value

For those of you who did the trade-in via the online link, did you receive your shipping materials yet?

I did mine back on 9/20, but was wondering if anyone had received their stuff yet to ship back their iPhone to receive the credit.

When I went into the corporate store to try and turn in the phone, the sales guy there didn't want it and told me to hold onto it and wait until my 7 Plus shows up and that I activate it first (which may not be until late Oct or early Nov). He said there wasn't any "paperwork" to give me that shows I was eligible for the $650 trade-in credit, nor did he have anything to give out or print out, but he insisted that I should be able to bring the phone back in a month from now so that they can do a "buy back" and I'll then get the $650 credit towards my account. I only have the receipt from the register that shows I bought the phone and put $300 down to pay for it.... to zero out my bill with the 7 Plus 128gb phone.

It felt and sounded a bit fishy, and it was the exact same thing I was told by a different sales rep when I bought the 7 Plus phone on 9/20 in an AT&T corporate store. So rather than take their word for it, I went ahead and filled out the link above for the trade-in via the AT&T website.

My paperwork today has this on it: "Pre-9/26 iPhone 7, 7+Purchase <br>(Qualified purchase BEFORE 9/26)."
It put a trade-in value of $175 for my 6 64 gb in pristine condition and then has a minus $175 after the sentence above for: "Recycle $0.00"
The code that the ATT sales rep pointed out as the fall code begins with FS-71106xxxxx. So I feel assured I'll get my credits. But I can see how if anyone hadn't read the posts here and the various ATT links they could be confused over this receipt.
