For anyone taking advantage of this offer for the 7, what is your plan for upgrading again in 2017?
Only get a $325 credit.

Right so your 'not doing this promo' numbers are off. If you got 350 for your current phone and 400 for your eventual iphone 7 someday, you would be out of pocket $119. With the deal, it's about the same. It all depends on the unknown of what the 7 will be worth next year. With Next (and this deal) you hedge your bets because if the 7 is suddenly a rare artifact and worth a million bucks, you could still choose to continue the payments and own the phone to sell yourself. On the other hand if the 7 turns out to only be worth $100 next year, you can turn it in to att and walk away. Plus the benefit of not having to deal with resale issues like you said.Right. I had the wrong $#s in my first post. I'm looking at the 128GB model which is $36.25 on the 24 month/annual upgrade plan. But seems my math above is somehow oddly almost correct with the end sum. 36.25 - $27.04 month credit = 9.21.mo x 12 =110.52 total cost.
There is nothing in the purchase to confirm this deal. We are all just trusting AT&T to follow through once the iPhone 7 starts shipping. Makes me nervous but I have chat logs to prove they approved me for this deal. Might be worth chatting yourself for peace of mind.
Well, the 7+ 128GB costs $869 so if you can only sell it for $400 next year and you're only getting $350 for your iPhone 6 this year, you would have paid $120 out of pocket. You can probably resell for more than $400 though, particularly if you have a pristine Jet Black model.Right. I had the wrong $#s in my first post. you'd be better off paying the balance, selling on CL, and paying again
maybe..
i dunno depends on situation I'm sure
mine will be $200 price difference over 2 years, or $8ish a month, with $650 credit for 6s plus 64
Completely different. Supposedly they will be sending everyone who bought a ip7 with Next an email after your 7 ships with details on how to send in your ip6 and start the creditsI am not even seeing an option to trade-in during the selection/check out phase. Is the trade in option something completely different from the order process?
Family plan with 4 lines. I have the option of paying for the new phone in full or just using the upgrade on one of the other lines. I plan on getting the full $650 credit. For anyone taking advantage of this offer for the 7, what is your plan for upgrading again in 2017?
I think your math is mostly correct. One part missing is the aftermath.I'm reading the posts here and it does seem this is only a good deal if you keep the phone for 2 years --- normally that's not a problem for me but next year's phone seems to be the one to have.
Next confuses me so please correct my math with this deal.
If I were to keep the iPhone 7 for 12 months:
Unlocked iPhone 6 128GB real world sell value is $350. I take that $350 and buy a $749 iPhone 7 Plus. Next I sell it for $400. Total out of pocket is effectively $0.
I trade in phone for $649/2 $325 in credits. Buy iPhone 7 Plus at $9/mo x 12 after credits. Total out of pocket is $108.
Of course there is the not having to deal with selling and that might be worth $108. But it's still not really a deal, more like a convenience.
Or is that not how Next works -- trade in your old phone instead of paying the balance due?
OTOH if you keep the phone for the full two years you make $216 in payments and probably will be able to sell the phone for $300, making a few bucks.

They're sending it to everyone who orders a 7 using Next. "Hey Bob, congrats on your new iPhone 7. If you'd like to take advantage of the trade in promo that was offered when you ordered, please complete the following steps. Otherwise disregard this email"That seems kind of strange. How would they know you want to trade it in to even send you the info?
Right now the deal runs from sept 9-30. So if you order an ip7 between those dates and use Next, you qualify. I suppose they could end the promo early but they could only end it from the time of announcing it forward. I.e. They could on sept 23 announce that they are ending it effective immidiately but they cannot say they were ending it effective a date that is in the past.it does seem odd... will they re-neg on the deal after a while? what if the volume is absolutely insane? or stop offering it to new next subscribers moving forward, and grandfather in those from a certain date..
Going back to this, your numbers are wrong but your original point is correct. It's only a REALLY good deal if you go the full 24 months. If I trade in my $869 iphone 7+ next year after 12 months, I'm out of pocket $110 with no tangible good. If I live out the 24 months of payments and credits, I'm out of pocket $219 but I would own an item hopefully worth at least $300 or more in 2018. Sounds like I will probably live out the 24 months and get the new phone next year (assuming it's a big redesign) via the Apple Upgrade Plan or buying outright.I'm reading the posts here and it does seem this is only a good deal if you keep the phone for 2 years --- normally that's not a problem for me but next year's phone seems to be the one to have.

So, lets say every month my bill is $150, if i get my next phone lets says it's spread out to $30 a month. Does my bill go to $180, when do I receive credit, and when i do will it take it back down to $150.
It clearly states that if you trade in any 6, 6+, 6s, or 6s+ you get a free 32gb iPhone 7. The line you are referring to is saying that even though it's a "free iPhone 7" the max credit is $650 but can be applied to higher priced iPhone 7 purchases. I.e. 'The max credit you can receive is $650, regardless of which iPhone 7 you purchase.'I'm concerned with their stating "may apply max credit...."
If there's a max then there's also a less than max.
What if only the 128gb 6S+ gets the $650 credit and all other iPhones get less than that?
This is "generous" period but especially if a 6/6plus user
Still gladly will trade my 64 6s plus for 650 to streamline it that's more than market value
Yup, particularly if one only has the 6 16GB. I've got a 6 64GB which was supposed to go to my dad to replace his current 5 32GB. Think I'll trade in the 6 and give him a 7 32GB instead. This is "generous" period but especially if a 6/6plus user

I did it with that plan and never touched any screens concerning service plans. Make sure you are upgrading a line on your account rather than adding a line.It keeps wanting me to add a data plan even though I still selected my unlimited plan. Anyone else go through with this using unlimited data ?
