Why does that show WiFi instead of 3G ?

Didnt know it made a difference, ill have her try to send the pic with 3g instead of wifi.

I sent a picture to you, no idea why it came up as an text message with the link.
If its doesnt work while its on 3G then im sorry for stirring up confusion.

When I sent mine it went through, no red exclamation mark

MMS, a feature which 90% of you Americans wont use as it cheaper to send pics via email (here they charge 4 SMS credits for 1 picture).

Ive only sent 5 pics since it came enabled in 3.0.

We dont run on credits, im pretty sure its gonna/is included in our plans

Ok, got one for you - I'll never use MMS, but the massive increase in traffic it will cause will further cripple my 3G speeds, which have already fallen to below 400 kbps in downtown Boston.

i'm in DT Boston and i have no problems whatsoever

There it works on 3G also, not trying to start **** with you just trying to prove to you that I do have it working.

It's quit possible that it works in select areas of the country but it's not working on all 3.1 iPhones.

And I'm guessing you live in one of the areas that AT&T said they had upgraded their networks in on the east coast?

So basically Sept 25th is D-Day for AT&T Network.

We should start a movement for every iPhone owner in the States to send a picture message to another MacRumors friend overseas. Lets figure out a GMT Time so we can do it all at once.

I say at 1500 GMT (figure out your local time) we all send a simple picture to another friend (overseas if you do it). We can crash AT&T and give them such bad PR Apple will dump them ASAP.

Anyone else game?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A400 Safari/528.16)

This is nice. I'm glad to hear that it won't cost anything extra.

Did anyone notice that the lady in the picture is using a first gen iPhone. I thought that MMS is for 3G & 3GS

If I were AT&T, I would have waited until after the Apple event next week to break the bad news. Now Jobs and Co have ample time to squeeze in a joke or two already. It certainly doesn't help that lawsuit going on.

Lemme think...

Oh god no....now what are we supposed to complain about? Someone better come up with something good in the next 22 days.

I think I'll stick with HORRID 3g coverage & repeated dropped calls as my staple complaints :p

if they ever fix those... Idk what I'd have left!

Oh wait! There's always the bill!!!

irony

i love the fact that the pic has the girl using the first version of the Iphone which will not be able to take advantage of MMS

Tethering

I can tether now with the quick fix from benm. If this upgrade (what ever kind it is) stops me from tethering, I can do without MMS. Tethering is much more important to me.

Does anyone know yet if I would still be able to tether after this MMS upgrade?
3G 16Gig 3.0

All you need is to put a minor change into the carrier file on the phone, no change to the OS at all, and it will be enabled. Along with tethering. Takes all of 30 seconds to change the file and then you will have the ability to do this yourself. Google is your friend.
Yup, my brother and another friend did it and it works just fine. I was going to do it for tethering. I could give a **** about MMS. Why pay for it when you can use email or IM?

Verizon is no better

I don't know why everybody believes that Verizon is so much better than AT&T. If I remember correctly, Verizon turned down the iPhone. Without AT&T, who agreed to offer the iPhone, who knows where the iPhone would be. I realize that in some areas the AT&T coverage sucks. I realize that AT&T is a couple of days late from meeting their "late summer" promise for MMS. If you don't like it, stop complaining and leave AT&T. And by the way, enjoy your crippled iPhone with the Verizon app store if they ever do carry the iPhone. The grass isn't always greener.....

I had Verizon for years, the grass is not greener.
I travel up and down the east coast and the coverage is just about the same for me. All this crap about being a couple of days late??? Get a life already.
