Everyone that is still, "in progress".....you're all online pre-orders right?

Seems that the ATT people with tracking numbers are the people who ordered instore.

Us online people are a no go.

Everything is built in China and we put up with their BS because they are buying up all of the crappy US mortgage and credit card debt.

If the US did something to piss off China such as trying to force them to allow their currency to rise higher against the dollar then they would stop buying billions a week in treasury notes and bonds and crush us (economically) like a bug.

China has close to $1000B (yes that's a "B") in cold hard cash (gold bullion). How much does the US have? Estimates put it at around $50B.

The same wall street geniuses that convinced corporate america that it was a good idea to off shore millions of US jobs, and the same wall street geniuses that convinced banks that it was a good idea to let someone who earns $30,000 a year carry $20,000 of credit card balances are now trying to convince us that it's a good idea to let China own us.

If there's anything we should be upset about, it's not China building our iPhones, it's corporate americas continued greed and the fact that they own our government with their under the table campaign contributions.

Wait... wait. I'm confused. We're now in debt to China over the credit card and mortgage thing? We've been dependent on them for years. It's not a new issue and I think the "they own us" stuff is a little silly. The trade imbalance is nothing new, but THEY are totally dependent on US. If we stop buying their crap then they are royally screwed.

I don't know how they supposedly own the government... but to each their own. At one point the talk was all about how Japan owned us (if you're old enough... you'll remember). Now it's China. Before those it was that we were being infiltrated by Communists. Before that it was Fascists. There is always going to be something. I think life is easier if we take more things at face value and accept that there's always going to be a "threat" and America will stay strong. Also accept that as America goes.... so goes the rest of the world. There are those who want to take America down, but there are way too many countries that rely on us to ever let it happen. Just my old man point of view. Take it for what you paid for it. 100% money back guarantee.

This is getting seriously OT, but here goes.

The reason that mortage rates are going up and bond rates are going down is because China has started to scale back on how much US Debt they will take on.

The only thing that is going to happen if the US stops buying Chinese goods is that the Chinese will;

1. Want repayment of the $1T we owe them.

2. Start selling their stuff elsewhere.

3. Stop financing our massive deficits. In case you weren't aware, you can't run up a deficit if no one will buy your debt, you end up being a banana republic with a worthless currency like Argentina.

The situation with Japan was completely different. In that case the issue was the trade deficit and the fact that Japanese companies were buying up US assets.

In the case of China it's not that China is buying up US assets it's that China is buying up US debt to gain leverage. You will note that the US no longer says diddly squat about their human rights abuses, etc, because we can't. China doesn't want any criticism from the US on what they are doing when they are basically financing the economic party that is still (more or less) going on in this country.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :apple:

This is the only communication I've received from AT&T since Friday morning:

Thank you for your purchase on the AT&T Premier Online Store. We're pleased with your choice of AT&T as your wireless service provider.

We estimate your order will be shipped within 2 - 5 business days pending approval if applicable. We will notify you by email when it is approved and shipped.

Your order may be subject to AT&T eligibility and credit requirements. If we have any questions about your eligibility or your order, we will contact you via email.

You can view the status of your order on AT&T Premier Online Store at any time.

I realize that was only two full business days ago but I expected a bit more movement than I've seen. Both phones I ordered (family lines, via Premier) are sitting at 'in process' and back ordered. Bah. There's not much I can do about it but this is going to make for a very long weekend before my very first iPhone is in my hands.

Yup, mine was an online order...I'm a little worried because my initial credit card charge was dropped and has not come back....and I actually got that money back...

BEST case scenario and what I am hoping is that they're just going to charge my card tomorrow when it finally ships.

I also ordered online on the 12th and don't have a tracking number. Not realizing until after I completed the order that there wasn't an option to pick up in store, I tried to cancel it but was told the usual spiel about how you have to refuse delivery, blah blah blah (which is about the most inefficient way possible to deal with that situation, but whatever), so I went into the AT&T store on the 13th, thinking I'd just preorder there and then refuse delivery on the home-delivered one. Both orders are, at the moment, "in progress," so I guess I'll go to the store on Friday morning and then, if they don't have it, call home to inform whoever's there NOT to refuse delivery after all.

What I've seen so far.

Just about all of the apple orders have shipped.

ATT in-store orders have shipped.

ATT online orders have not shipped and are in progress.

Are there ANY ATT online orders that have shipped?

not mine, ordered online at 1 am on the 9th, a 16gb black and a 32gb black one. Still in-progress.

This AT&T order was a bug mistake. I ordered on the 13th online. Today the order shows "canceled", WTF?? I called and they said they canceled it yesterday by mistake and reordered it yesterday. Again, WTF?? I'll be lucky if it comes at all. I should have gone through Apple to begin with. What a mess!

Then call att and Cancel your order again you still have time to go with apple all iphones being order until tomorrow at noon apple is giving you a promise that you will have it in your hands on friday. Go for it i have more faith that apple is holding most of the devices to sell themselves. How many of you think that the 3G S would be sold out as long as the 3g was or even the 2g iphone. I think it would be sold out maybe a month or so but then after that steady supplies

EDIT: As for me i ordered online from apple yesterday today about an hour ago my order says prepared for shipment i'm sure it will ship by tomorrow and have it here by friday i'm also porting a number over from verizon

I placed my in-store order on Saturday morning, the 13th. I thought I would be one of the poor guys to wait another week but my status has changed to shipped with a tracking number as of today.

Relief.

I ordered in store on the 12th and I'm also in progress, not yet shipped.

Ordered from Apple on the 8th, still "prepared for shipment"

I know this is the AT&T thread, but i feel like i'm the only one who ordered from Apple on launch day and still hasn't shipped.

Despite an email from Apple last week saying "yes, it will def be delivered on the 19th," my order status still says "ships the 19th, arrives by the 24th"

I called Apple 2 days ago and they knew nothing.

It's not just AT&T that's sending mixed signals...

I'm sure you'll get yours on the 19th as well my order status says delivers on june 19th. Like apple stated before all orders placed by noon tomorrow. Orders will be received on the 19th.

Same situation here, I ordered june 9th for home delivery no changes so far.. i've read other peoples thoughts and would have to hope/agree with these:

-ATT will not be as detailed because their shipments must arrive to them first so they can turn around and send em out to us

-ATT online home orders expect to see changes on Thursday because they need to have them in facilities first and get their own tracking situation down.

Apple people are going straight from apple so they get to follow their phone as it rides with bundles of others across the country..

I'm still hoping its just that they are not being as detailed and as we speak our phones are headed toward ATT's facilities so we can get those puppies by friday <--(I just wonder why those picking up at stores can follow theirs though, or at least know its ready to ship... maybe the idea that ours are in the U.S. already is possible too?)=D

My guess is AT&T online had a set number of units to sell, and they will be taking delivery from Apple to ship out.

ATT retail is essentially submitting orders directly to Apple to fill.

So, if you bought online, you need to wait for ATT to get their inventory and then ship them out, which sounds like is happening now.

If you bought in store, you're basically treated like an Apple purchase.

I received an email at 7:30 eastern tonight saying:

Thank you for your recent iPhone 3G S and new service purchase with AT&T. We have recently sent you an email about your wireless number transfer to us that was requesting further action by you to complete your order. Please disregard that email. Your wireless number transfer has been confirmed and no additional information is needed from you at this time.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.

Then 5 minutes ago, I receive this email:

Thank you for choosing AT&T. Unfortunately, we need some additional information about your phone number transfer before we can complete your order. Please call our Port Administration Center at 1-888-898-7685.

If you do not receive the tracking number for your order within two days after providing this information, please call us at 1-866-391-0749.

It's weird because I received the emails in the wrong order and they were 2 hours a part. I guess AT&T's systems are really screwed up right now. I checked early this morning on my number transfer and it said "Completed".

Edit: So I just called the number that was listed in the email and the automated system said that my number transfer has been approved. Then it said to complete the transfer process, my new AT&T phone needs to be turned on. Then it asked if I have my new phone yet.

Wow, you just gave me some hope that I will get mine earlier than expected. I ordered mine from an AT&T store Saturday morning the 13th, but I still show "In Progress."

I cancelled my order today from ATT Premiere without issue - they didn't tell me that I had to deny the package. Perhaps it's because I spoke with a Supervisor after being told they weren't even shipping until the 19th contrary to what was on the order pages when I ordered.

I'll just wait in-line at my ATT store - they open at 7AM and this area is small so they only expect maybe 4 people to show up out of the 20 or so they'll get in. :)

I wonder if I canceled my order from ATT right now, and then ordered from apple (I'm an upgrade) I'd be eligible for an upgrade at apple and could order for them.

Thoughts?

I'm in a similar boat. I got the "attention needed" email which didn't give a number, but just the LNP status page. Went to that page, said "confirmed", chatted with a rep, she said "confirmed." That was last night.

I believe phones with a number transfer ship in mixed-mode, so that you can make outgoing calls. The old phone will still receive calls until you go through the process of activating the new iPhone.

I'll be really upset if tomorrow morning I wake up and am still w/o a tracking number.

You could try to get lucky. I tried canceling my order a couple of days ago and was not allowed to. I tried speaking to a supervisor, but no luck.
