It's coming back outside Detroit. All weekend I was getting 2 down and .1 up. Now I'm back to 4-5 down and .9-1.5 up. The up is still more inconsistent, but the down is getting more consistent.

What's your upload speeds?

1.24 - 1.6 Mb/s If you need a pic, go back a few pages, I posted speed results.

Oh so that gives AT&T credentials to provide 100kbps to us. So they can keep selling us bottled air... That's not what they said. They said while the solution is in the making, they will be providing 3G speeds to the affected customers.
AT&T lawyers or executives would love to take notes from you for the next excuse. Makes me think that some macforum members are not the actual customers. lol

It doesn't, but it doesn't mean they aren't working to fix it. Also, I hold no ties to AT&T (not even stock), but I realize how some people like to whine and bash a company so willingly with the slightest things. Also you said they were going to continue to provide 3G speeds, well, don't you get them? You posted your results and saw nice downloads. Isn't that enough for you? Back in the iPhone 3G and 3GS, that was enough for people. 384Kb/s didn't matter much and it was still 3G speeds.

Example, here we are complaining about upload speeds, when 3 years ago we had EDGE speeds and people were happy.

New iPhone users don't know what it was back then, they don't appreciate what they have now. Having 100 Kb/s was awesome back then.

This is the best I can manage from the great city of Boulder. Thank god for WiFi at work.

Are they still rolling out the fixes? Why I ask is that I'm still only getting 100 Kbps upload.

Seriously dude, that kind of thinking maybe, just maybe works in communist China and North Korea, but this is a land of the free. Telling someone be happy with what you have, it's still faster than the speeds from three years ago is extremely dictatorship like. And tbh, what are corporations are doing is almost identical. If they claim to have upgraded their infrastructure, and claim to be the fastest 3G network in the country, they better perfomrm.
Download is the least important for the user experience. 1.5 down is in moat cases what other network provide, but with much lower latency and better upload than 100kbps. That's why users like them.

Then by your logic, Apple is a dictatorship because you let them tell you what you need in your device or computer. Example, an HD4870 being sold with 512MB RAM while it is a 1GB card. Or the poor cards they offer with the iMacs, 256 and 512MB?! Your serious?

If you think the average Joe knows about low latency and uploads, then you are very mistaken. For the ads to work, carriers have to advertise their download speeds. For us that is non-issue, but for the average person, then it's a big deal because that's the only way you can measure the service without getting technical.

First off, I chose to buy or not to buy an Apple product.
Second, again, you sound just like an AT&T guy.

I'm on the phone with an Apple Technical Support Supervisor right now and he's practically pulling out all the guns now when it comes to AT&T Data Support. I can't believe I'm going this far up in AT&T support system!

Cleveland, Ohio.

Edit: And yes, I'm still having the upload speed issues and no one wants to admit that there is a problem.

No, me too. I am in Detroit area- and I have been having them since at least the 27th of June.

Kick some ass for me will ya:cool:

I'm up in Auburn Hills and things are back to normal here. I'm back over 1meg upload and between 2 and 5 down.

I'm still only getting about 90 Kbps uploads here in the Quad Cities. My area will probably be one of the last to get back to normal.

So here is what is going on.

AT&T has confirmed with me that there is indeed an issue with many of the cell sites across the United States that has resulted in people's upload speeds as well as download speeds being effected. This much we do know.

But what I explained was my major point of frustration is the fact that it seemed like AT&T's support representatives didn't know what was going on. It was a situation in which the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. I also explained that there was a lot of "doublespeak" going on in which AT&T was blaming customer's phones for the issue at hand.

I told them that that issue needs to be resolved. The Technical Support and Customer Support agents need to know about the situation and that alone will go a long way in helping to calm people's nerves.

I told the supervisor that that's all we, as an Internet community, wanted to know. We wanted to know some kind of confirmation that there is indeed a problem and that that the press release that was put out yesterday wasn't just some smoke being blown out of AT&T's rear end to shut us up.

As for when all of this will be fixed, she (the AT&T Data Support Supervisor) did not say. The reason why she said that is because Alcatel-Lucent are working on a permanent fix to be put into place along with an interim fix. As to when the interim fix will be deployed nationwide, she too said that she has no idea.

I feel that I've gotten a lot further than I've ever gotten within the last couple of days with the help of Johnathan over at Apple Technical Support. I want to thank him for helping me get the answers we've all been wanting all along.

I told them that that issue needs to be resolved.

Well the issue is as good as fixed then, what more could they possibly want. I'm sure they were wavering on the decision, but thankfully you were there to lay down the law. I will sleep much better tonight knowing we have you on our side.

I sense heavy amounts of sarcasm in your post.

Um, no offense, but you didn't get ANY answers... but thanks for trying!

keep this thread going - until AT&T fixes this shi_t.

right now, it's 96 degrees in seattle - and my upstream is like the weather, a pathetic 96kbps STILL.

AT&T seems to collect their monthly dues right on time - but when it comes down to fixing issues, they take their mutherf/ucking time. I so want to drop kick the corporate management team in the face but it's too hot right now to even get up off my couch.

Still no good in Michigan

Nice to see all the Michigan people! Sadly, I'm in Royal Oak and just got 1938kb down and 93kb upload....

Been around Bergen County NJ and Rockland County NY all day today

never went over 96 upload.

Some downloads were damn fast as hell!! But upload still f***ed up.....

just FYI
