I logged into my account after receiving the billing statement email.

I went ahead and checked for my upgrade status as a 3GS launch day owner.
"As a valued AT&T customer, this line qualifies for discounted equipment pricing when you sign a new 2-year commitment.

iPhone Upgrade
As a valued AT&T customer, we can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade with a new 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee." *

Thanks minik for bringing the good news!!!!

just checked my account this morning, I was 11/20/2010 on Thursday of last week, now I am eligible!! with an $18 upgrade fee :)

Where does it tell you that you can upgrade? On my account it shows the 32GB at the subsided price and on Apple's website too. Should I just assume that I'm eligible? Where is it on AT&T's website that it tells you?

I picked up the 3GS on launch day. My plan is over $200.

"A full discount on a standard handset or iPhone upgrade is not available at this time but you may qualify on 06/20/2010. We can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price with a 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please visit a participating iPhone sales location for pricing on this offer."

Just assume now :) Also, from your phone, dial *639#.

OK, it worked this time.

It says -

"As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2 year contract commitment and wave the $18 upgrade fee."

Frickin' sweet!

Bought a 3G in April of last year and had checked my eligibility when this thread first started and it still said September 2010.

Just checked a minute ago and it's been changed to "iPhone Upgrade
As a valued AT&T customer, we can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade with a new 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee."

Can't wait til the 4G is released!

Mine has also gone from what yours said on the 30th to what yours says now. Last time I checked (June 3rd), it said I was eligible in July for an upgrade. I got my 3GS on launch day last year, and my plan is only $98 after taxes each month (no FAN discounts of any kind). This is the 2nd time my upgrade date has moved to an earlier date. Before today, it was saying I was eligible on July 8th. I'm thinking that this is pointing to pre-orders being allowed Monday after the keynote address.

:D

I told people a while back to stop jumping to conclusions and give AT&T time to roll the upgrade dates back. Seems a lot of people are getting bumped now. Happy for you guys.

i put in *639# and it said "as a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2 year commitment and an 18$ upgrade fee." so im guessing that means im upgradable at any time woooooo. originally it was like june 11th but i guess they moved it

Well I assumed I had an upgrade ready for awhile since I haven't upgraded my line since late 2008, I used another line for my 3GS.

Do you all have iPhones on your lines? My date hasn't changed yet and it shows a razr on my account

Historically, AT&T has bumped the uprade date for iPhone holders just before the release. If there's any way to get an iPhone activated on your account, I would. Even if you have to put your sim into a friends iPhone, make a few calls, then shut down your line for a while. OR, buy a used iPhone that you can re-sell after you get your 4G.

After doing *639# I still get "I can purchase equipment at full retail pricing without signing a two year commitment. I'm eligible for an upgrade on 2/20/2011..."

But, I wasn't planning on resigning with AT&T, waiting to see if Verizon gets the iPhone in which case I'll jump ship on 2/20/11

I am on the iphone family plan with my gf and she is the primary line...att also just changed hers to upgradable now, does that mean she can get the new phone for the 199price or the 399price? Also mine still says i can upgrade in february, is there any way I can call to get that changed;).

Yes - $199

No

Same. Yesterday I was at 6/30/10 for upgrade, and now I'm eligible today! That'll save me a phone call to AT&T.

On upgrading an iPhone, if your contract is up / done in 6/22/11 (one more year due to 2 year contract from 3GS purchase last year) and you upgrade your phone to a new iPhone, does that just reset your contract to be due in 2012 (2 years from the new purchase?) or does it add two years to the contract you already have so it'll be finished in 2013 (3 years from now - 1 year existing plus 2 years of new phone)?

iPhone Upgrade Guide

15. When I upgrade, does it add 2 years to my contract or reset? When you upgrade, your account will reset to two years from that date, not add another two years in addition to what you are left with currently.
