AT&T Confirming Shipment of iPhone 4 Pre-Orders

I have to agree, I ordered mine at 7:30 and I'm sitting on back-ordered, while I see afternoon orders fulfilled.
Exactly. Relying on someone whose order was placed the same time of yours is useless. Some people who had everything done with no problems on the 15th aren't shipping, while other people who ordered on the 15th but had problems like cancelled dupe orders and weren't put into the system until the 16th are. Until AT&T and/or Apple says otherwise, it's completely random apart from people ordering before ~5:30pm EST on the 15th.
Update from an AT&T Corporate Rep
After waiting on hold for 21 minutes, I got in touch with a rep at AT&T corporate, and here's the information that was given to me.
If your order page still shows a status of "In Progress," and you ordered the phone before 4:30p EST, be patient. Your tracking number should be assigned by tomorrow evening at the latest.
AT&T reps use three different programs to check the status of your order; one being the warehouse computer. In other words, even though your order page may show a status of "In Progress," you may already have a tracking number and you simply haven't received an e-mail yet.
The phones are being shipped from from either of the two domestic warehouses: one being in Fortworth, TX, and the other in Memphis, TN.
The rep also confirmed that FedEx was instructed not to deliver any orders until June 24, which means that even though your page shows an estimated delivery of June 23, the phone won't actually ship until June 23.
People in this boat can expect to have the phone, I'd say, between Thursday and Monday. Still, it pains me to wait just as much as anyone else.

Gah! Ok...mines been updated again. Now says back ordered (but still saying ship date as today) I think Im gonna wait to check my status again till tomorrow because I don't understand any of it anymore. Oh well.

Thanks for the info. I especially like the insight regarding the 2 different warehouses. That would explain shipment confirmations for people who ordered before and after me, maybe they're shipping from a different warehouse (and as such their "warehouse computer" is better at keeping customers up to date).
I'm feeling confident most of us who placed an order the first 24 hours will get them the 24th (except maybe those who's orders were FUBAR and weren't "placed" till after the 16th).
Thanks jxster!! I ordered mine at 130pm EST on the 15th and mine still says In Progress and Backordered. (Even though others who ordered after me are receiving confirmation emails!) Hopefully the info you posted about those before the 4:30pm EST cut-off for AT&T getting emails by tomorrow night at the latest is true. Thanks for easing my pain!
I ordered 2 phones back to back. One for me, one for my wife around 8am EST from AT&T premier site. Next day, credit card called me to verify the charges. They said one of the AT&T charges declined due to a bad expiration date. How in the world when I got order confirmations a few seconds later? I called AT&T no luck. Looks like AT&T re-ran the charges the next day on the one phone with the correct expiration date. Great automation.
Now the one that they ran the charge the next day is "on back order" and the other one has a tracking number. I called customer service and they tell me the back order one will ship 4 to 8 days later than the first. Nice work AT&T.

I wouldn't worry too much, your order is obviously receiving some attention. Some of us still have the "In Progress" limbo state. I would wager that you will receive your phone on the 24th.

Okay now that's weird.. Lol. They're must be going crazy over there..
haven't seen this yet. but on my regular att side it says shipped an provides a tracking number but in the carrier column it says null. on my att premier side it says FedEx dunno why it doesn't say FedEx on the regular site an my credit card has yet to be charge any one else not charged yet??

I ordered mine on the 15th at 9:45AM EST. AT&T charged my card on the 15th and my order page(s) say the 15th. But like most here I'm still back-ordered and pending. Hopefully they resolve it tomorrow.
Wait so you have actually been charged the full amount already? And you're back-ordered? Because I'm shipped with a FEDEX tracking number and everything and I still have not been charged. Not even a pre-auth. Free iPhone?

i am a new att customer, i ordered through their website on the 15th at 10:35 am EST. I am still in progress as well, although my order date says the 16th to process my new user status. Hopefully we will all get updates soon and can stop worrying, as long as it took for them to take 600,000 pre orders, it may take that long to send shipping confirmations lol

What are you guys doing about signing for the package on the 24th? I assume most of you have jobs that keep you away from home during the normal FedEx/UPS delivery times. Has anyone thought of a way to have it dropped off even if you're not around to sign? I ask because I live in Atlanta, but Monday - Thursday I am in Pittsburgh for work, so I won't be in town to sign for my package.

I hope that guy was correct. Mine has been "in progress" since I bought it. I bought it at 4:23 e.s.t.. I'm glad I didn't wait around at work.

My order date was changed to 6/16 even though I purchased on the 15th.
I also never received any sort of email from ATT regarding purchase until today when I got an updated CSS.
I didn't get my order in until around 3:30 PM EDT, on the 15th - and it JUST SHIPPED!!! So I'm sure yours will to! The only emails I got from ATT during my purchase were saying they were cancelled! But I have one! So you will get yours too!

It will come. I was on the later end of orders, and when I DID order them, it got cancelled multiple times. But low and behold after a day of page refreshing, I just got my shipment confirmation and tracking number around 5:30. Patience, my friend, and you will get your wife's iPhone. (is it really gonna be hers, I mean how much are you actually going to let her use it?) haha

well, i placed my order on 6-15-10 at 530am EST. before going o work. my card was charged and then the charge disappeared, I then checked the att website, and it showed it shipped the 17th with a tracking number not working on fedex website. My card hasnt been charged yet. What are the odds of a free 32 and 16 gig ip4.
