So, I chatted with someone again this morning and they moved my physical to esim, they asked for my esim imei. they for sure did something because i no longer have service on the physical sim.
However, when i asked for either QR code to be sent or the SM address activation code, they had no clue what i was talking about.
The guy suggested i go to a store to buy an esim and then scan the code and it will work. Don't they still need link something or will actually scanning a qr code work?
They can’t move over to esim via chat. Once they “activate” the esim your old sim is no good. Attempting to locate a store that will give you an esim I imagine has become more difficult since they told stores to stop. When you go to the store they will more than less likely give you a regular sim.

So they can’t provide activation codes over the phone?
Ya my old sim is done no more service so they’ve done something.
These people are so useless

my physical has been disconnected so no its not working anymore.
worst part is im in canada so i cant even get to a store to try to get an esim from anywhere. what's the point of esim if you still need to go to store.

If you find a store with the QR Code eSim sheet you should be able to activate it in that same store. Ask them to look for one which looks like what is above.

Best bet is to try to find an authorized reseller. AT&T has been telling employees not to activate eSims for some odd reason.
[doublepost=1541359056][/doublepost]Also as an update I can say that after 5 days of use, I am finding all features of both my phone lines are working absolutely perfectly.

Visual voicemail with transcription is working perfectly with no lag on both Mubarak aT&t and TMobile lines.

Comments about voicemail issues are complete nonsense.

Of course they are, I actually think the reason why the official launch is delayed is due to zero training. I spoke/chatted with about 15 different reps and only 1 knew what was going on. One rep told me there is no such thing as dual sim and my rogers sim card has to be taken out for the esim to work.

Curious... Sprint shows they don't support eSIM, but if I have my AT&T line as my primary line as eSIM, and then get the Sprint as the secondary (physical) sim, that'll work right? It makes for a good reason to have the free for a year promo on Sprint if this setup will work.

Should do. That’s what I am doing except with TMobile on the hard sim.

Went into the AT&T Corporate Store this afternoon. Was told by the rep at the door and the store manager that a memo went out saying they may not distribute or activate eSIM until further notice. I even had her show me the memo. It was dated October 31.

I knew this was what happened. That's why I made a point of going store to store on Wednesday to get it done before everyone read the memo.

You may still be able to find some authorized resellers who may go rogue and just do it.

It's not a huge deal I'd rather just wait until it's official so if something (unlikely) does go wrong they can't shrug and say not supported.

Turn me off now if you don't want my rant...

The whole experience with ATT was why I loathe and won't recommend them to anyone. They immediately resort to the land of NO NO NO if they don't think you may activate lines. Ugh, can't stand the idiots.

The other side of the coin is this.

The only people enjoying dual sim functionality now are AT&T customers. Personally I am loving it. Leaving on my weekly travels now and carrying only one phone. It’s awesome. And the functionality is fully available - I have had zero issues with any feature.

If I had only Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile I would still be carrying two phones.

So I’m feeling pretty good about being an AT&T customer. Granted they could make it easier, but they aren’t making it as hard as others.

Another vote for the ATT effort here of individual employees, and not necessarily the corporate Death Star. I went into my local store asking for an eSim, and got no pushback. They had never done it before, but within fifteen minutes my ATT plan was added to my XS. This service is a business lifesaver for me in a rural environment where no carrier has comprehensive coverage, and I can call where the cell towers tell me to call.

Last night I called ATT again as I had discovered that my AW3 can also leverage the dual-sim configuration. ATT rep had never heard of it before, but said she was game to give it a try. After a couple of false starts, my formerly Verizon AW3 now had added an ATT plan. Just exceptional customer service with great attitude. Down to one device and one watch, and I am better connected than ever. Thanks to Apple and ATT for some very helpful innovation and effort.

PS VM cover story is BS. No issues for me.

Anyone wants to buy me an esim and ill do a paypal transfer?
I am in Canada for the next 4 weeks, i sold my x att chat took my xs esim imei and disconnected my physical sim and were not able to provide me with the qr code. My canadian carrier does not support esim so physical sim is from that carrier, and dont have att line anymore till i can get my hands on an esim.

Funny I was like yeah right as I read this... and then I read the "added an ATT plan" on the Apple Watch... funny how the reps will jump through hoops if it means getting an activation. You just proved my previous comment. LOL

So hold on you can have AW plan on 2 separate carriers as long as you have a phone line with those carriers??

Yup. New AW capability when you activate dual-sim; on ATT, it works:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209043

Yeah I noticed that you can have multiple eSIM profiles in the Apple Watch now. Since I have the eSIM and the physical SIM in my phone both activate, there is the option in the Watch app is add a second eSIM profile to the Apple Watch.. Granted you can't have two profiles activate at the same time, but still excellent.

(The second carrier in this screenshot does not support Apple Watch, but if I put in my other carrier SIM in my phone it works perfectly)

Don't get too excited, you need to pay for separate Apple Watch lines as well.

It's not like you can have two iPhone lines sharing the same Apple Watch data plan; that's wishful thinking. You can't even have two same carrier (say AT&T) lines sharing the same Apple Watch plan.

Ya that's fine. I have 2 lines one Canadian and one US both of which support apple watch but only att "supports" esim voice. I dont pay for my Canadian so now i can add 2 AW plans so i can use it in both countries since you cant roam on AW.

Does this mean you have Xfinity on the eSim?

I am using Verizon for voice and AT&T for data. When I’m on the phone, I do not have data. I have cellular data switching on, so I’m supposed to have data. Anyone have this problem?

From my understanding, you won’t have data until your call is completed. Your Verizon voice still uses data. Can’t have two different data SIM’s running at the same time.

Yesterday, I changed physical SIM to eSIM on AirTel network in India. Process was so smooth and automated. Within couple of minutes, I got OCR code and within 2 hrs, eSIM got activated. Now, I am on two networks Jio & Airtel and enjoying both network's benefits.

there is option while on call, data could be active on other line so continuity of data network.
