But I thought people don't want larger screens. Right Apple?

At the time sales suggested they didnt. However over time tastes change. Many still prefer small phones but they are willing to try something new with Apple because Apple does a good job of taking care of people. I thank Samsung for this. Samsung makes money whether you buy an iPhone or a Galaxy product. One hand washes the other.

Question for those ordering one of the new phones: if the 4.7" phone had the same screen resolution and camera tech as the 5.5" model which one would you order? Would it come down to battery life?

Battery life was never an issue for me. I know how to turn off apps that Im done using. I wouldve almost certainly gotten the 4.7" phone.

Really? Have you no clue of the volume of calls going into Apple right now? Just look at the insanity of questions on this forum alone and you can begin to imagine what their customer service is going through today. Even if ALL HANDS ARE ON DECK.

I work in sales for a call center. Always cracks me up that people seem to think this is some easy thing. As if Apple just needs to stick more people in a room with a phone line and that's it....

I didn't pre-order but for me you are correct. Battery life and price.
Under your conditions id always take the 4.7 as it's the closest to a phone sized phone that Apple is selling branded as iPhone 6.

can i still get the iphone 6 plus on the 19th from the at&t store if i get there early enough? i did not preorder it.

My guess is you will have an easier and not easy, just easier time, at an Apple Store as carriers and big box locations like Best Buy probably will see very limited stock of the Plus. AT&T was quoting 14-21 business days either immediately last night or within minutes which means they either have no launch day stock of the Plus or very very little. And if their online pre-orders were unavailable or gone that quickly, they might not have any for lineups.

"everything is going well."

Haha, yeah, unless you need to talk to Apple Support today. All calls go to "we're swamped, we can't talk to you today *click*." What's worse is that there is no queue or any even vague attempt at providing service today.

Great job, Apple. Drop a huge product and not have the support staff on hand to handle it. Stuff like this and the Livestream SNAFU makes me wonder what you guys are doing all day in Cupertino.

Somebody needs to get their you know what chewed out or better yet fired over this. Apple needs to get its you know what together before they start selling :apple:Watch in all it's different combinations.

Or maybe no one wants the 4.7 version. Everyone wants the 5.5

I would bet that the 4.7 sells a lot more than the Plus. And I wonder how many people are not gonna like the size of the Plus when they get it and are gonna want to move down.

So what happened to looking like an idiot when making calls on a 5.5" phone?

Just LOL.

Nothing. They still look like an idiot.
Seriously though I suspect they will use it in speaker mode, making them even more obnoxious to the people around them.

In a few months the figures will come out breaking all records as usual, but it won't be quite what Wall Street predicted so APPL share price will fall.

Stupid economics..

That's why I'm probably going to keep my 5s. One handed use is a big priority for me. And outside of Apple Pay there doesn't seem to be much software related that isn't coming to the 5s.

AT&T actually had some glitches last night. It seemed every step took a little bit longer to process. It took more than 15min to finish the whole order process. Then on the last page, there was no confirmation message until many minutes later.

But that's much better than the Apple's online store and store app. They remained down for hours after the midnight pacific time.

They removed my Unlimited Data !

Soooo pissed off.

Been on hold for 30 minutes trying to reach support.

I've been on Unlimited since the first iPhone

I was on hold for 1.5 hours before they got back to me and basically said "sorry".

I love how mad that makes you :)
I'm not mad. I'm laughing. It's funny how people complain that the Android phones are no good because of the size then Apple does the same and all of a sudden this size of product is cool.

Apple so is a cult and people feel they need the latest Apple iDevice to be a part of it. Even if they really don't like said type of device they'll buy it cause of the  on the back.

But I thought people don't want larger screens. Right Apple?

Apple was right to make bigger-screen phones.

The "people don't want larger screens" thinking was mostly a chunk of this crowd here spinning "man purses" and "pants with special pockets" and other such nonsense, mostly tied to wildly imagining phones near the size of iPad Minis instead of breaking out basic tools like pen, paper & a ruler and getting a realistic picture of phone sizes.

In their defense, "we" have been accustomed to 4" for a LONG time with Apple marketing spin rationalizing why 4" is the "perfect" size via "one handed use". As such, "we" have spent a couple of years poking "abomination", "stupid" and "99% don't want…" in all discussions about phones with screens bigger than 4". So it's hard for some of "us" to flip with Apple overnight, knowing how someone with too much time on their hands could go back and find examples of "us" ripping phones >4" to contrast against our already or soon-to-be-posted gushing love for our new 4.7" or 5.5" iPhone.

Give it a few days and much of that "people don't want…" & "man purse" sentiment will be evaporated with the good old "…but when I got to actually see one", which quickly turns into "shut up and take my money" and "best iPhone ever". Just a few days ago, 4" was still the officially endorsed "perfect" size as handed down by Apple. Sure there was a huge pile of rumors that made it seem like the new "perfect" was about to hit but until Apple actually announces, the group sentiment is always splintered. Now that Apple has ordained a new view of perfect screen sizes, the group will mostly rally around them. I suspect it's only a few more days until people start posting things like "how did we ever get by with such puny screens?" and similar.

AT&T executive Ralph de la Vega will also find it amazing to see the number of people using AT&T's subsidy upgrade to jump ship to T-Mobile

:apple: Think Again :apple:

They don't have any. Looks like Apple kept all 6+ stock to themselves....

I too had an order done through AT&T before the 2:01am time, but then got an email 45 minutes later saying they had canceled it because they couldn't verify my info....no idea what that means.

Ended up going through Apple. At the time, the Gold AT&T 16 GB 6 wasn't available so I preordered my gray 64gb 6....but now that it's there I want to cancel and get the 16 GB Gold.

I did this with an AT&T Next upgrade. If it's still in the processing stage, how hard is it to cancel and reorder using that same upgrade?

If it hasn't processed yet, there should be an option to cancel the preorder online. If it's not there to cancel, they probably have processed it

ATT is happy. I am not.

Same here. And I'd bet money that when we finally get through, they will say there is nothing that they can do.

In all fairness, Ordering through At&t gave me no issues. I'm just pissed about the estimated delivery date of 10/2 -10/13

My receipt even says I ordered Sept 11

Errrr No.

Tastes can't change if there was no choice! lol

You can't say that people last year or the year before did not want a larger iPhone 5 or 5s or even 4 or 4s as they just had to be the only thing that was made.

That's like me only selling Apple pie and saying well people are buying my apple pie, so they obviously don't want any other flavor :D
