I called five times during lunch but none of the reps could help. I'll try again either tonight or tomorrow. :(

yeah try in the evening, that seems to be when people are having better luck. Be sure to specifically say you want them to remove your current SMS plan and replace that with the TMS4 code, otherwise they'll keep telling you it's incompatible with the iPhone. apparently whatever error they get in the system leads them to believe that it's the iPhone that's the problem, and not the fact that they're trying to have 2 texting plans on your account.

Well I do have a family plan (wife and I) so there technically is two text plans. Do I need to replace both with the TMS4 code or set up just one plan we share?

I honestly don't know, as I don't have a family plan. if each phone uses a different plan, you may need to replace both, but maybe someone with experience with it can reply to give a more definite answer

You need to add it to both, thats what i did. We had the 200 for $5 on each so they took those off and added the 1500 on each.

***** EVERYONE WHO ADDED TMS4 *****

I just got a text message from AT&T saying "As previously advised, 1500 text messages costs $15. This is the price that will show up on your bill". I just checked my account, and lo and behold, they removed the TMS4 feature and added the standard 1500 txts for $15 plan.

Hey Dan, I wonder if we are related. :)

My account still has the 8.99 and I haven't gotten a text yet....

If true this definitely sucks and I won't waste my time calling. Can anyone else confirm this?

when I called the rep yesterday for the u200 code she said the NYU discount was 20%!!
I'd like to know what university you go to =D

With the iphone 3g it is said that the FAN discount works.

+ $70 for plan
- $10.5 for fan discount ($70*.15)
+ $8 for text
= 67.5
+ 13.5 for 20% tax in NYC (~11% + ~8%)
= $81 for my total bill

Mine is still on my account, I just checked...

Well, I managed to get the codes added just fine about an hour ago. I said I was going to add a featured code, number TMS4. The lady said she was happy to do it, and then I added it would be replacing my old texting plan. She added it and confirmed it with me. Then I asked her to add:

U200 for the 200 bonus
and
CMG5 for 50 more bonus minutes (East Coast only)

Bonus minutes completely stack, btw. There's http://howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=11366865&postcount=210]some guy on HowardForums with like 1100 bonus minutes from collecting codes over the years. I also had her check out RD3C, which the HowardForums guys seem to think expired recently(also, expired only means they can't be applied anymore, but they are almost always on your account for life)

To sum up, you can add:
TMS4, U200, and CMG5 to come out with a $8.99 1500msg text plan and 250 bonus minutes.

do you have a FAN or business discount applied to your account? I have a FAN via an educational discount and still have it on my account (I just checked) and have received no text messages about it.

If I do a rate plan change to my plan with these codes attached to it, will they remain or will I have to call and have them re-added? With the U200 code I'm thinking of reducing my plan minutes.

I was told that the codes would stick unless I changed rate plans. If I did, and the codes were no longer valid, then they could not be re-applied. Then I read about these people having old codes stacked on top of each other and I think that AT&T can probably do something to accommodate them.

Well I just got off the phone with a very nice CSR rep.
When I asked him to add the u200 code he started laughing. I already have the tms4 code added btw.

So he started laughing and asking where I got the code. I very confidently made up a story about how the hospital I have rotations at told me about the code as an NYU affiliate. He continued laughing and said "your very sneaky!".
He's like "i've never heard that one before!"

Anyways he was a good sport about it and said I can definitely add it and would I like to have it added to all three lines on my account..he proceeded to add them so now I have 600 bonus minutes!

At the end he said dont' be surprised that in a couple months if it gets taken off my bill as a feature. He said the system automatically does sweeps of the accounts every few months and that it would probably get knocked off. But he said enjoy it while I can and was very nice about it.
Let's see how long this lasts.

I really hope they don't knock off the 1500 txt deal as that is more important to me than the minutes.

What I don't understand is why it is an issue for them. If they are not allowed to apply the codes, then why do they or - even better - why does the system allow it? If your account is elegible for the codes, then apply them and be on with it.

I feel the exact same way.
Either put the code on or don't..it should either be blocked from being put on the account or go through.

Is anyone having any luck applying any codes other than -

U200 for 200 monthly bonus minutes

or

TMS4 for 1500 messages for $8.99?

I don't mean those of you that have had those codes for years, but people trying to apply those codes within the last few days or weeks.

As I said in my last post, I additionally got CMG5 put on for 50 more bonus minutes. The HowardForums wiki says the code is only for the CARE(Eastern US) areas, but it might work for other people too.

I saw that. I am Telegence, but I will try it.

I have tried -

BM200 - 200 mins
BM250 - 250 mins
BM350 - 350 mins
RUN7 - free 7PM nights and weekends

and struck out with each one.

I think it has to do with them having pre-conceived notions about the codes in general and not knowing how to really deal with them. If you read back in the thread, you'll see my experience with trying to add the code. Basically what happened, was the guy first said that texts were $15 like he knew that to be fact and there was no way around it. I asked him to try it anyway and he said he got an error saying it was incompatible. Come to find out, he was trying to add the 1500 SMS plan on top of the 200 SMS plan, so when I asked him to remove the current SMS plan and then add the new one, it went through like a charm and he was totally surprised that it worked.

I'm not sure what's involved in their training, but it sounds like they don't have a really clear picture of what's going on with the premier codes

It is pretty sad that we know to remove old codes for texting and they don't.

I was specifically responding to Khurram's post with the rep saying he was sneaky and laughing about it. It just seems unprofessional. Apply the codes if our accounts are eligible. Don't if they are not.

I called to add the code, the lady almost had it done, didn't oppose anything, but then I got a "beep" and a "call failed" error on my new iphone 3g, sigh...

anyway, i gave up, added the $20 a month unlimited, and decided to skip a subway sandwich or two

I just called to add some of these codes, and I have US NAVY FAN account. The damn CSR said that he had heard of these aand these are fraudgulant codes. He said I don't know where I got these but these were not meant for me to have, and he would have to annotate the account. AT&T is not in the business to give away free minutes, blah blah blah, somebody is going to get in trouble for this blah blah blah. He acted as if he was going to catch me slipping up and bully me around, and scare me because he is going to have to be forced to annotate the account that I called about these codes. Whatever what a douche bag!!! Like said earlier either add the codes or not, don't be a prick about it.

I tried calling four more times last night and STILL can't get anything added. I'm probably going to give up because after nine calls it's becoming pointless. Though the last woman I spoke with did say that she could submit a ticket and someone could get back to me. Figured that was more hassle than it was worth so I thanked her and hung up.
