From what I can gather from this site and others, the codes are valid until you change your rate plan. If you change your plan and those codes have expired, you will not be able to re-apply them.

Now I definitely feel ripped off! Down here, my carrier charges 14 bucks for 700 SMS.Here is what the Minutes tab and the Data tab look like in my AT&T online account after adding U200 and TMS4 a couple of days ago.
If you check my previous post on this thread I noted that I had asked the CSR to remove the 200 texts for $5 dollars before adding the 1500 for $8.99 but as there are so many new accounts on AT&T this week their data usage reports are really backed up and it is definitely NOT up to date. The red bar with 1 of 0 there is a MMS message that my girlfriend sent me and I'm assuming you indeed have to pay per use on those. I have sent about 150 text messages since I got my 3G and what is worrying me is that they going to show up on the 0 of 200 instead of the 0 of 1500 when they finally get everything updated on my account. ;/ I can only hope for the best at this point.
I have the same exact thing on my account. I have that red bar with 1 message used. I believe that's from an MMS I received... which doesn't make sense because the iPhone doesn't support MMS.

1500 messages were added 5 days ago, fyi. I've been texting since I added the plan, but only today's texts showed up. I'm scared to see how it will look tomorrow morning, because I just had a text conversation for the last half hour with a friend. I'll post another screenshot tomorrow.

That was my post that suggested that...It was the information that I was given but we shall see at the end of the billing cycle.
I specifically asked this question when I got it added to mine and was told it was not in no uncertain terms. The gal even went and checked with her manager, then came back and assured me that B2B was just their way of tracking that the account had a FAN attached.

How are you guys able to see your data usage? Mine says something like "Due to your recent data plan change, you can't view your data usage until the start of the next billing cycle."
I just checked my account and it was fine. Showed I had used 2 of my 1500 messages and had 1498 remaining. Yes I have the B2B 1500 messages for 8.99.
Nope those were text messages to my friends phone. The iPhone doesn't have mms. I checked bill today and I have a $24.50 discount. So iphone 3g gets fan discount. I also saw that 3 messages out of my 1500 were used. This is strange, how I got charged 5 texts yesterday. The only difference is that the five texts I'm being charged for my friend has a pay as you go. The 3 out of 1500 as of now was to a blackberry.
I don't know how the discount is applied. Pretax the bill is $106.25 (included $24.50 discount) + $10.21 tax. Pretax looks like a 19% discount.

It doesn't make sense though, because messages are also being taken out of my 1500. I text some of my other friends and see if I get charged.

See that's the thing, it doesn't make sense because I put the plan on 5 days ago. I made twenty texts yesterday, 5 were charged, 15 were not.
Just sent a text from my email to my phone. I'll see where that goes.
I'm about to text a few of my friends, one who has an iphone 3g and one who has a normal phone. I'll see how those get charged.
