You might be too late to the party. It sounds like AT&T caught on to everyone using these codes and they aren't allowing them anymore.

Just keep calling and trying, it's about all you can do.

They're still allowing them. I thought I was late when I got my iPhone last week, and added the code on Thursday. But I called, and had it added. So they should still work.

Did just what you said, a different lady just told me that the tsm4 plan is not for the iphone 3g, and that I could get 1500 text messages, but would have to pay 15 dollars for it. **** that, if everyone else on here is aloud to switch the plan for their 3g iphone why can't i?? I have a premier account and everything, whats the deal??

the deal is that you're accepting what the reps tell you and aren't being assertive. when I was trying to apply the TMS4 code to my account, the guy that eventually did it first told me that my iPhone was not eligible for discounts and that the cost of 1500 text messages was ONLY $15 and you couldn't get a discounted rate.
I told him that he was correct in that the original iPhone couldn't use discounts, but the iPhone 3G was different- and that I had a FAN account, which is what enabled me to use discount codes, as that's the whole purpose of the discount. At this point he tried it but said the system was giving him an error that it was incompatible. I then said again that the iPhone was in fact eligible for it, and that maybe he needed to just remove my current text plan and then add the code- he did that and it worked and he acted apologetic and surprised.


Don't accept them telling you that your phone isn't eligible or that you can ONLY get 1500 SMS messages by payign $15 per month. They don't know any better, or are programmed to try to avoid giving people discounted rates.
 
It must be that some FAN accounts do not accept the code. I have called and spoke to 8 reps by now and each one say the only thing they can get is the $15 for 1500 minutes, nothing they do replaces with $8.99 and this code.
 
To those still trying/wanting to add the U200 code, i just did it today, about 5 minutes ago...told the rep i had a University FAN discount and wanted to apply the code "U200" for 200 bonus minutes, and the rep (who was male, lol) said, "Ok sir, well that is indeed a valid code, i'll just go ahead and add that to your account right now...and is that all?" I logged into my ATT account a minute after i got off the phone with the rep and saw that the code was immediately applied + active.

So as of today, the U200 code still works...did not try the TMS4 code, however, as i am not a heavy text message person (I prefer AIM + sending SMS free through AIM). For others still wanting the 200 bonus minutes, keep trying!

tell them to first remove your current SMS plan and then apply the code to your account. simply applying the code will not replace your plan

You were right!! worked like a charm. Told the guy that i had received an email from my college telling me about the feature code TMS4. Added the 8.99 1500 text message to both of my family share iphone 3g accounts. I then asked about the U200 plan and said i had also received an email stating that it was a discount for 200 extra minutes per month. He looked up the u200 code and also added that to each of my family share lines. I can't believe that it took a 3rd call to at&t and me lying and where i found this code for them to credit my account. Not only that, once i explained to the guy that i hadn't been receiving the 15% discount off of my first line for the first month of service, he said he would go back through the last 3 billing cycles (apparently all his computer would let him credit) and credit me 15% of 80.00 per month (my 1st line cost on family share for 1400). This ended up totaling about $36.00 in savings that i received just because the guy offered. The funny thing was, once he got done doing all of this, he told me that it was weird, he hadn't ever heard of those specific feature codes before and how good the deals were. Just goes to show how under-trained AT&T's employees really are. I also found out that once I get my first month bill for my iphone 3g, i will be able to get credited back both of the upgrade fees for each of the 2 iphone 3g's on my family talk line, pretty nifty...Glad i found out about this FAN account through my university...THANKS MACRUMORS!!:D
 
Well i was just told that i would have to go into a store to apply these codes :mad:

After reading this thread properly i guess this does NOT work with regular consumer plans.. Is that correct??
 
Called, got U200 added. Rep even threw in 200 rollovers because he didn't think the codes were available anymore (something about not being used since the early ATT?). I see that BSD 200 BONUS MINS has been added..but where can I view the rollover minutes to see that they've been added? Also, my account still says 900 minutes not 1100, which should be the total with U200. Thanks!

I just called twice to try and get TMS4 added. First rep flat out said that there is no such thing as TMS4, and refused to look it up. Second rep was helpful, but he told me that I couldn't add the code because I had an iPhone, and could only use iPhone-specific texting plans. I didn't feel like arguing with him, so I just thanked him and ended the call. I'll continue my saga tomorrow, because 1500 texts for $9 is a sweet deal.

The extra minutes will not rollover, just the unused base minutes. Though I have the extra 200 minutes, it still shows:

Nation 450 Rollover & 5000 Night/Weekend & Unlimited Mobile-To-Mobile Minutes

But then on the actual minutes used, it says: Used 32 of 650

She looked up the code, and told me "I can add the code, but you won't get your company's discount on the package, you'll have to pay the full price." I asked her how much the full price was, and she told me $8.99. :D So I told her that I have no problem paying the full price, and she added the code without any difficulty. Checked my account online, and sure enough Text Msging 1500 B2B $8.99 is there.

Haha, nice. Too bad you have to pay "full price" but at least you were finally able to get it added ;)
 
Just got TMS4 added and U200 added. I'm on a family plan so I added each to both.

The U200 minutes come off before the shared minutes of the family plan. We have 550 shared minutes so we each get 200 bonus minutes before we cut into the 550 shared minutes.

I was also able to get the upgrade fee waived.

The guy I talked to was very nice and helpful.
 
Damn I have tried over 8 times to get U200 added but have been shot down everytime. Is there any specific time of the day you guys call?

Around 7-9PM ET worked best for me. Maybe you're phrasing it wrong. Read other posts to see what people have said to get in added.

Do you have a FAN account? If not, then that could be the problem.

If you do, just call confidently and tell them that your HR rep at work gave you the U200 code to add to your account. If they ask you what it is for, tell them 200 monthly bonus minutes.

It should take all of 2 minutes to add. I called at 11PM central time and the rep was very helpful. That is also when I called to get my activation fee waived, but on a different call of course. The trick there seemed to be to wait until my account cycled and the bill was generated.
 
Just tried and was told that not only was the plan being deleted next month, but it would be removed from all users accounts. I don't believe it for a minute.

Edit: just tried to get the activation fee waved as well...no go

They can't just take it off of people's accounts.

The upgrade fee was the most difficult but after he told me no, I asked again telling him that I have had them removed before and he said, "alright, I will do this one time complimentary favor".

or is there something I need to do to my account to show that it's a FAN account?

You go to the premier page and put your school email in; then you will get an email telling you to input your account stuff and you'll be added.

Do you have access to that school email address? Because when you go to the premier page and enter your school email address, they will send mail to it. So you will need to get to that mailbox. When you do, you'll get the instructions on what to do next.

Yah I scrolled through and found how to do that on page 11, thanks for the quick reply though guys.

So ok, my account is now a FAN account associated with my old college lol.

do I have to call them up or can I speak to a tech via the online chat feature they have? I'm still sifting through this thread, but apparently I'm way late and there's a lot of stuff :)
