I FINALLY got mine added. Third try.

Some advice I can give is to be as nice as possible! It still might not work, but the phone representatives are going to do much more to help you than if you're angry about it. I work as a waitress, and I will bend over backwards for customers that are genuinely nice -- even if they're incredibly picky -- but I won't go out of my way to help a customer (outside of my job requirements, of course) if that customer isn't polite.

These people have a TOUGH job. They will probably be much more likely to help the polite people. Not that anybody here isn't polite, but just a tip in case somebody reading this is going about it the wrong way. I'm not saying it will definitely happen if you're nice, but it won't hurt anything.
 
Hmm, just read this thread more..... is this only applicable for 3G iPhones? (I still am rollling old school with a 1st gen :eek:)
 
Well I have a FAN account and got TMS4 added on the first try. Just tried again and was told no AGAIN. Some one suggested trying over the weekend when the indian call centers start picking up the calls.
 
It's applicable to ANY account with a FAN discount.

yah I decided to go ahead and call anyway.

I called twice, failed twice.

First person said they couldn't find the code at all in the system and that promo must be expired.... :mad:
but I did get him to add U200 successfully. (even though I don't need more minutes lol)

Second person said they looked it up and didn't see anything again. She put me on hold for about 20 seconds and came back and said nope again. WTF!
 
I called four times, failed three times. You just have to be persistent.

Maybe I'm asking them wrong? I'm naturally polite, so that isn't even an issue. I just tell them "I'd like to add a Feature Code to my account" then, on queue, "what's the code" "tms4" hold...... nope. hmmmmmmmm

Is anyone getting their FAN discount with an edge iPhone?

Well, I just applied FAN to my account and I'm using Edge. I haven't seen any discounts yet.

The old iPhone plan isn't eligible for the FAN discount, even though it can still be on the account.

"My mobile number is .... I just signed up for the premiere account and someone gave me some SOC codes to add to my account"

"okay i'll look those up. Looks like the first is for 200 additional minutes and the second is for 1500 texts"

Two things to remember that have been reiterated over and over in this thread

(1) Be as polite and nice as possible. The CSRs are people with real feelings just like you and I. They deal with **** attitudes all day. Ask how they are doing, start off as the breath of fresh air. It will go MILES for your success.
(2) assert yourself - it's not about not taking no for an answer because that is an argumentative stance. It is about speaking in a manner in which no is not even an option.

also, how long ago did you call? they all kept telling me that it's an old code.... and majority of this thread was active in early / mid July... so I was wondering if you had done this recently or not?

I have to point out that some codes just don't work. It's not like they won't put it on, it just doesn't work!

And anyways, go to hofo and you can find a lot of codes.
 
Just called for TMS4 and was told it would not apply since I had the unlimited voice plan. I ask "so I pay more for an unlimited voice plan therefore I must pay even more for text?" Then I laugh it off and move on.

I've been meaning to get off the unlimited plan anyway...was only on it due to being used to having "unlimited" usage from my old company phone. Now that I work evenings it turns out I only used 400 minutes last month.

So I am now on the 450 plan as of Saturday.....but still on $15/1500 text. It's so funny how she said "But I didn't change your text plan" in such a careful nervous voice. I just said..."ok...thanks....bye" and figure I'll call back.
 
I seriously HATE att right now. Farking Indian guy was telling me that he cannot remove my original SMS plan for $15 because it's bundled with the data plan. Then I asked him to downgrade to the 200 SMS and then to add on the promo, and he can't. because it's bundled. After him repeating this over and over, I said ok thanks bye. :mad:
 
On hold for a REALLY long time this time (almost 20 minutes) and the rep is telling me that her and her supervisor are unable to locate TMS4 at all. It seems that who I work for plays a big part as they all seem to go that "extra mile." One even mentioned, "based on who you work for....." (something about trying really hard.)

She has placed me on hold once again to look a bit harder. Crossing my fingers.......BINGO!!!! I now have TMS4. On to U200.
 
I was told my FAN account is not eligible for the TSM4 code and that it cannot replace the iPhone TXT 200 (the iPhone texting plan I currently have). I only used 36 text messages last month, so the 200 is good enough for me. Might try again in the future if the mood strikes me.
 
Just called and got a guy that sounded pretty young (avoiding the stereotypical descriptions here.) He didn't seem to know anything about the plan but when I told him I knew the code he said "Let's try it." BINGO!!! I now have U200.

The only caveat he mentioned is that my rate plan changes on Saturday, but i'm guessing that won't affect my feature codes. We'll see. I'll let you know if it does.

Just an FYI, my understanding is that they strip the promos when they change your plan. So you may have to re-add them.
 
anyone else who has a fan account calling 611 and not getting att business care. i did a few weeks ago and added tms4 and tms3 to my account but now my bro wants tms3 and when i call 611 im getting the new att not att business

It says always says "Thank you for calling the new AT&T" when you call. Then when you confirm or enter your number, it'll say "Welcome to business customer services."

I'm about 98% certain that the unlimited voice was NOT your problem. Notice how at the end she said she DIDN'T CHANGE your text plan. THAT's where the whole problem originated. She didn't remove your current text plan and THEN apply the code, so she's getting an "incompatible" error in the system. When I called and got it applied, the guy first of all said he was getting an error that said it was incompatible with the iPhone. After I explained that the new iPhone was in fact compatible and that maybe he should try removing the current SMS plan and then applying the code, he said something sort of under his breath along the lines of "oh, maybe that means something else". So I wonder if the error they get mentions iPhone in there somewhere and they automatically assume it's saying it's incompatible but they don't read the whole thing to see what it's really talking about. Once he removed the SMS plan and applied the code, he said it went through like a charm and was surprised at the discount.


And for the person above saying the 15% discount doesn't apply to the TMS4 code- that's right. The discount doesn't apply to the codes, because the FAN allows us to use these codes, which already ARE the discounted rates for us. Otherwise, everyone could get 1500 text messages for $8.99
