i've been trying to add tms4 and u200 but i think they wrote some notes on my account that i've tried this several times. they keep giving me the same response now, that my FAN account with my university doesn't support those specific codes.

any ideas??? i haven't tried b2b1500 yet.
 
Maybe it's because my account is not FAN activated yet, I don't get special treatment? Does anyone have a # other than the 800-331-0500 # they use?

After hours support is only available for business users (aka people with FAN activated)

My company offers 28% off. I got the codes by asking for them and being nice. Remember the codes are in the wiki. I can say that as far as I can tell BM200, RD3C are not good. Most are retention ONLY but every rep has different rights. Remember the more everyone asks the better chance they will be taken away. Dont ask for all at once. Best is once per month or twice. Keep this alive for as long as possible. I got a guy to add my last 4 today. All codes are in the wiki...

Being nice is the key. I've called them a few times and they have no problem when I am nice and chit chat a little.
 
What's the code for the $0.99 7PM N/W? I checked the wiki and did not see it.

It's in the Wiki, but depends on which part of the country you're on. RUN7 must be what is being used, and only in CARE markets.

I decided to read through parts of this thread, do some research and try it out for myself. I have a iPhone 3G w/ unlimited texting for $20. I don't not text as much as I used to and want to cut down my texting plan. Being that the 1500 plan was $15, I figured it wasn't worth it to save $5. But for $8.99, I'll give it a shot.

First up and went to AT&T's site that you use to check your work/school email. I punched in my university email and it got me in. I verified my account and within minutes I noticed when I logged into the account online, that the university fan numbers was listed near the top. Cool.

After that I called 611 from my phone. I told the lady on the phone that my IT department said I can get a discount on my texting plan and gave me the feature code TMS4. She put me on hold. 1/2 a minute later she came back up and verified it was a texting plan, 1500 for $8.99. Then she said she saw that I already had the iphone unlimited text for $20. I asked to remove the unlimited and change me to the new plan. She put me back on hold. After she came back, she had added it on and verified it with me.

Now I wait for it to reflect on my account page. :)

Got it on the first try just a few minutes ago.

wow, will you ever use all those minutes? but congrats for getting that!

my next goal is BM350. then I would get 1000 minutes a month which is way more than enough.

and may I ask how you got the 8 bucks a month off for the nights starting at 7 PM?
 
I called AT&T tonight and the rep told me that the U200 code had expired.

Pretty sure you were fed a line. Try it again a little later tonight.. There were a couple of people who had it added just a day or so ago.

its a discount you get from work or school. are you working or in school and do you have an email address from that establishment?

also, it varies in amount. %28 is pretty high. mine is %20 and they seem to avg around 15%

RUN7 is not valid. According to the executive office there is no Free texting codes or free n.w codes. They added N/w ay 7pm for me and off set it with an $8 per month credit.

Plus dont focus on what part I have codes stated in the wiki as for care only and for telegence only so theres not much of a science to it. remember the person on the wiki is not on both and there are ones on there that are no longer in the system at all not just expired.

This is true there are some codes that are expired. The reps have a way to bypass that sometimes and can get around it. If they say its expired just try again. They are not feeding you a line and are doing there job.

Anybody having luck getting u200 on more then one line? I have had it on my iPhone line for months, but I have tried about five times now to get it on my second line and they keep coming up with different excuses not to add it.
 
Went to a corporate store and spoke to a manager. He tried to add U200 and TMS4, no luck. He referred to the NBO (for FAN users/business users) but told me their hours were 8-5pm Central. It was 550pm but I thought I'd try anyway.

Long story short, because it was after hours I got connected to the regular Business CS (that you would get by dialing 611 on your phone if you have a FAN discount).

Rep there was very nice -- she flat out told me that free bonus minutes were not being given out anymore, so couldn't/wouldn't try applying U200 (frankly, it was my mistake -- I defined U200 for her without being prompted). I then gave her the codes for TMS4 and CLL2 and both added without issue (told her to take my $15 for 1500 off before adding TMS4). She was even surprised when it took. Seemed very willing to try these other codes. But, again, as soon as she knew the U200 was a bonus minute code, she didn't even try it.

She even went so far as to annotate my accound because she was concerned that the TMS4 showed up as "Text Msging 1500 B2B" that it would only apply to business to business user texts, not general SMS, so in her annotation she expressed this concern and conveyed that if for some reason I am charged for texts within my 1700 (1500+200) that reasoning was documented in the system to remove the charges. I had read earlier that this is how the TMS4 is displayed in the online account profile, so I didn't poke that bear.

She also explained that there is a back-end system that scours accounts each month and "removes" codes it thinks are not valid/should not apply to a particular account. This may explain why some people have seen codes disappear. Based on what I've read on this thread and elsewhere, I think this is pretty haphazard.

This was my 6th time trying for these codes so it was nice to get something. I am annoyed I couldn't get U200, but may try again tonight -- not sure if I should push my luck.

I would guess that if you have a 28% FAN discount, that probably puts your company/organization on their "favorites" "preferred" list or whatever they call it. I suspect the CSRs are more likely to acquiesce and add a code to your account than say to someone whose organization gets a 12% discount.

You could probably ask them for free data service or something and they'd do that for you :D

it's been documented that there is no difference between business to business texts and regular sms, it's all the same.

As for U200, try again..from my experience getting a couple of these codes activated, it all depends on the csr's attitude and/or willingness to help without prying too much...I've yet to be denied a feature code, but maybe that's because I've been pretty honest and upfront about what iam calling for...not to mention I actually have a valid FAN account (some don't).
 
Just succeeded with CLL2 on my iPhone 3G. The rep was obviously overseas and had a very VERY thick accent but was very kind and helpful. He looked the code up and applied it without hesitation. I just switched over from Verizon for the iPhone and I must say AT&T's customer service is leagues above everything I experienced with Verizon.

My very preliminary observation is that the University/School ones seem to be having better luck with U200, as well as those entities with significant FAN discounts (>15%).

I have a non-University 15% FAN account. Got U200 added after about 4 calls.
 
Success for TMS4!

Do not be discouraged to add the feature code for TMS4!

Attempt #1 (2:30PM on 8/19): the csr said that the TMS4 code was expired and would have to be "grandfathered" in = denied

Attempt #2 (3:30PM on 8/19): the csr said that the TMS4 code did not exist. (weird considering that the first csr was able to recognize it)

Attempt #3 (12:05AM on 8/20):
Me: can i place a feature code on my account
CSR: what code would you like to be placed
Me: TMS4
CSR: Please hold. I will place you on a silent hold, where you can't hear me but i can hear you.

....5 minutes later...
CSR: that feature code has be successfully added to your account, and prorated

this last CSR did not even ASK me what the code was for, nor did repeat what exactly was added. I asked her if i would be able to view what was added on my account immediately, and she said yes. Indeed it was 1500 texts for $8.99. Thank you all for this informative thread! it really does WORK! :D
