I did, i talked to a rep, hard to understand due to their heavy accent, I gave him my IMEI and SIM number, he said he updated everything, still no 5G
Same here...still no 5G...called ATT twice, spoke to about 5 different people - they said my IMEI and ICCID is updated - still just LTE/4G...any other ideas ?

So, I ”had” the same issues as many on here...I am on the correct data plan but no 5g options under carrier settings, just 4g and LTE.

I called 611, asked to have my IMEI updated, and my issue was resolved. The tech on the phone did say that he could see that there was an IMEI issue and that he needed the number off my phone to fix it.

On a side note I do use dual SIM and was aware that I could not get 5g if using both. The somewhat good news is that if you go into carrier settings and disable one line you can get 5g on the still active line. I had heard that you would need to manually remove the physical SIM in order to get 5g on the e-SIM but that is not true. At least not for me.

I did same but still no good, do not use a dual sim tho - just real SIM card that came w the new phone - is there a way to verify the IMEI is actually updated ?

As they say, it's always about getting the right tech support/customer service rep. Called back this morning. Got a person that clearly knew what they were doing. They made the adjustment and now I am getting 5G. It's unfortunate that so many of us are having issues, and many continue to have them, when this is something AT&T really should be resolving on their own without us having to repeatedly call.

For additional notes, the wording the rep used was an "IMEI mismatch" that needed to be corrected.

I think the key is to find a representative who knows what they are doing exactly. It’s a luck Of the draw.

Will try again w that mismatch term good idea thank you

I'll also try again, Idk why this is so darn difficult

Something is definitely not right on the AT&T system side. Even prior to the fix, when i logged into myAT&T it was showing my new iPhone 12. So their system did know about the knew phone and should have handled the new IMEI correctly. But obviously did not, for me and many others.

I have ATT prepaid so my login is different than yours. I was told to update my phone via the account but it says there's an error with system, it hasn't worked in over a day

So apparently there's a "downgraded tower" that's being worked on in my area, according this rep I just talked to. Don't know how true that is but that I should see it within the next few days. I'll take that with a grain of salt...

I ordered my 12 Pro through apple and used the SIM that came with the phone and was having the same problem where I only had 4G and LTE options. Talked to customer support twice along with trying everything I saw on this thread. Finally support said to go to a store and get a new SIM card to see if that worked. It did, I now have the 5G options. The guy at the AT&T store said the SIM that came out of the phone looked to be an incompatible 5G sim.

I don't buy this. I think someone in this thread mentioned that it worked fine with their 5 year old SIM.

I have a business account and a specific rep that handles my orders, etc. She updated my SIM over the phone as previously mentioned and now I have the 5G cell options. She said that AT&T updated SIMs after January of this year to be compatible with 5G. The SIM I had updated came from an 11 Pro.

I want to make sure we aren't conflating two different things. What you describe is not a new physical SIM but rather getting your SIM correctly provisioned, correct?

What plan do you have?

I have unlimited elite and I don't have the options.

Update! I got mine to work. I went into my att and refreshed the signal to my phone, then turned it off and back on.

Where in My ATT is the option to do that? Thanks!!

None of these worked for me - ATT updated my IMEI/ICCID for new SIM on iPhone 12 pro, have ELITE plan, refreshed connection many times - still no 5G in drop down - any ideas ?
I had to call at&t and have them provision my imei number to get 5G to work, took about 2 mins.

I did this - spoke to ATT several times, no good after

what Exactly did you say to ATT and what was the exact wording they used for what they updated?

I just called and said I got the new iPhone and am not seeing 5G on the phone even though my plan supports 5G, she confirmed my plan and said she needed to reenter the IMEI number into their system to confirm and provision it correctly, took about 2 mins, restarted the phone and 5G appeared. The hard part is getting an agent that knows what they are doing.
