Seriously, everyone needs to calm down. You are letting an online forum freak you out.

Remember, when you agreed to DF the phone from AT&T, they told you 5 business days. Assuming you did that on Friday, or Monday, that means that you would get it by this Friday at the latest.

I DF'ed mine on Friday at noon, and it shipped last night. I will have it today. Anyone who bought it later on Friday might get it tomorrow and those who bought it on Saturday will probably get it by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

If you are unhappy with this speed, then you should not have agreed to do the DF program. THEY SAID 5 BUSINESS DAYS!!!! Let them do their job and stop panicking. You will get your phone by Friday, as you planned. If you wanted it earlier, you could have sat in line for 4-6 hours at an Apple Store (they still have 4 hour lines yesterday). I, for one, was unwilling to wait in line and am happy that I am getting my phone without spending any time in line. I will go down there today as soon as I see the package lands in the office and activate it.

So, everyone, calm down. If you don't have your phones by Friday, than you can start worrying. Until then, remember, you signed up for this.

Maybe they told you five days, but they definitely did not tell me that. They told me monday or tuesday, but my order is still on backorder. You can sit there all high and mighty telling everyone else to calm down, but you've gotten an update saying you're getting your phone.

So if I had known, I wouldn't have signed up for this.

In case anyone is wondering why the credit card charges keep being deducted and reimbursed is because of a system called authorization hold. This is basically a charge that gets placed on the card temporarily to make sure you have the available funds. This authorization hold could last 2-3 days (could be up to 30 days). Most state laws require a product to ship or be packed/ready-to-ship before an actual charge can be placed.

*WARNING RANT*
Just tell us the truth already. I can't help but feel this scenario is like in the Last Castle when James Gandolfini's character throws only one basketball into the prison courtyard to watch the prisoners try to kill each other. I can't help but think of Steve Jobs sitting on top of his perch laughing maniacally whilst petting a weasel. If Chuck Norris was in charge of shipping and receiving he would've sent those Communist Chinese a bunch of LG Envy's wrapped in iPhone 3G boxes. Take that RED!

Look for the 5 digit Order ID on your receipt.

Actually, I figured it out after you said this. The order number is actually listed after you use the order status, and there is no need for five digits by me. My three digit order number worked, In fact, I was able to go up and down.

To me, that's a rather big security issue, I can see who's ordered phones in whatever zip code of at&t stores.

The other issue, is we don't know if it is an iphone direct fulfillment or some other phone. Also, how does one know if it is 8 GB, 16 GB White, or 16 GB Black, Which item has shipped, etc.

still encouraging to know that some shipped, and some will be coming up soon. :) Hopefully, the fulfillment center stock will not run out.

Just to update for everyone. I talked to a customer service manager, being that we have a deal to work out upgrade eligibility problems. He told me that he just got an e-mail a few hours ago stating that all shipments may take 7-10 days. Not 3-5, not 5-7. but if need be 7-10. He said they can still ship out earlier, but its not known exactly when.

When I did DF the guy told me it would be here in a week.

So I'm not too suprised but I was hoping it would've gotten here sooner with all the Tuesday talk.

Oh, well

Last night, my store had 51 ordered on 7/11, 12 shipped. None on the other days.

Since then, 9 more have shipped as of 3:40pm Tuesday. All ordered on 7/11.

My order has said backordered all day. The Apple store is out, but apparently AT&T is slowly... ever so slowly... sending out phones.

Still hard to figure out the order. The last order from 7/11 was shipped, but the first 13 have not. I can't explain it.

Just a thought on "random later orders shipping". They don't necessarily all have to be for iPhones. While I was in the store there were other people shopping for other types of phones.

Ouch... just checked the status of the ones that were shipped to my local store yesterday (sadly, none of the phones are mine)... out of the four phones that were supposed to arrive today, all four say "Delivery Exception - Incorrect Address"...

They better get this worked out when it is time for mine to ship...

AT&T messed up the shipping name and address

FedEx Tracking Status

Jul 15, 2008 12:39 PM
Delivery exception
Incorrect address - Street name/number

FedEx told me that the package had only my name with the shopping mall address for AT&T. The driver didn't know how to deliver it inside the shopping mall. You would think that the driver is familiar with that mall address.

I'll call AT&T to check the shipping information on my other phone that is still on backorder.

I really think that this has to do with them filling orders for certain models...the 16Gb black is REALLY popular (just check the other thread on here with the survey about who is waiting on what model).

I was the 10th DF order at my store on 7/11. Only two phones have shipped so far and one order was cancelled. I'm sure there are some after me that have shipped too...it all depends on the model and you can't tell that from the order status page.

Sure, there could be other orders for phones, but I'm willing to bet that these are all iPhone orders, just different models.

i put my order in for two 16gb Black iphones at noon on Friday the 11th
the manager told me it would take 7-10 days but that was a safety net for them and being that the shipping is priority, it would take 2-3 days to receive them. ive been checking the status of both and they say theyre on back order but my credit card was charged for them so i called the store and the person i spoke to toldd me that the online status may say back ordered but theyre not....they got a shipment in today but they already called the people whose iphones came in...and that mine should be there tomorrow or the day after that. i found that weird being that i was literally the 2nd person to place the order, but then again, the 16gb black supposedly has the highest demand. hope it comes tomorow

I've been routinely checking www.wireless.att.com/order_status for updates on my phone shipment but in the last 2 hours, I've been unable to access it. Are others experiencing this as well?

I was having trouble as well, but the site seems to be working now. I guess a lot of people are visiting it, and it must have temporarily crashed.

My black 16GB that I ordered on Saturday at 12 PM EST is on back order.

order status page

It hasn't worked for me for about 40 minutes. First it showed missing, now it just laggs and never loads. I ordered Friday. Please ship today. Please. I have patience YET i want it this week.

It's been really slow for me in the Lake Zurich, IL area. I know someone in Cary, IL saying it was down too.

I wonder if a batch of emails were sent out and people are now bombarding the at&t server.

Order Status

How do you check who has shipped before you? Several mention this but when I put my order info in the at&t web site it only shows my particular order, not other people ahead of me. Mine is also a DF order.

Once you enter your info on the order status page, note your order number. Then, go back to the page where you entered data and select "order number/confirmation number." If your order number was 2343, enter 2342 and use the same zip code as previously and you'll see if the person before you has their phone.

Order

Ok thanks for sharing how to check other orders. Doing this I see I have 29 people in front of me that have not shipped. I was told 7-10 days when ordering on the 13th which I hope holds true as I told AT&T I am a new customer and have 15 days before my 30 day free exchange is over.

tracking down

tracking page is down for me too.

I ordered my phone today, and got the 7-10 business day story too. He told me they really have no idea what the timeframe will actually be.

The ATT store here got 30 phones friday, and has not gotten any since. They are telling people the only way they will get one in the foreseeable future is to do direct fulfillment. They also are not sure at the store here if they will be getting only phones marked for DF, or if they will get more for inventory.

Edit: One more bit of information. I dont know if this is standard or will be helpful to anyone else, but I was reluctant to do DF because I will be moving in the next 2 weeks probably, and was worried about having to drive back here to pick it up. He told me if I am not in the area when it gets here they will ship it to the nearest ATT store for me. So if anyone else happens to be in the same boat...

I don't believe that Apple/AT&T is shipping in numeric order. I think it more has to do with which phone someone ordered; obviously the 16GB black ones will take the longest and the white 8GB's will get there sooner.

Fingers crossed for all of us!

Your logic is probably correct, but there aren't any white 8GB's...
