I ordered my 8gb 3g at around 8:30 AM EST on friday and paid for priority shipping (which was the best option given to me). However, my phone is still on backorder. I called the 800 number and the lady I talked to did not help at all, but gave me the number for my local AT&T store. They were no help at all either, obviously. Everyone has a different story to tell.

It makes no sense why some people who have ordered their phones after me, even on saturdays, are getting them before me.

AND I tried that place in line trick, and I'm first. Buuut, someone got theirs shipped before mine that was after me! They got overnight. How did they get that option? I wasn't given that option.

I am very frustrated as well.
 
I didn't think it would sell this well. I'm happy that I'm waiting till next week so I beat this rush :) Hopefully they have them then :)
 
It shipped!! I'll have it tomorrow! I guess I can't be upset anymore since I didn't think I'd get it until at least Thursday or Friday in the first place.

I had better get my phone this week. I went through an emotional roller coaster on Friday.

Got to my local at&t store (can't go to apple biz discount) at 5:30am. Around 7:30 or so one of the managers starts coming down the line and asking for our name/number and what kind of phone we wanted. About 15 people in to the line he says "no more 16gb black!" I said OK not a big deal I thought the white one was cool anyway.

He gets to me and I give him name rank and serial number etc. and that I would like a 16gb white. He says cool.

Inside I feel almost as if i just bought it! Yes I'm going to have one in just a few minutes or so! The guy behind me also asks for 16gb white.

Then the manager clears his throat and states "all 16gb are gone!"

Wow! I just made it. Only to find out that with 4 people in front of me that they are now sold out of all 16gb. Apparently the people in front of me changed their mind or the douchebag manager miscounted.:mad:

Either way at 9:30am I had to direct fulfill my iphone. I was pissed. Than t top it off its backorderd?

Right now it says backorderd or 16gb white. I was smart and grabbed my salesman's business card. It had his at&t paid cell number on it. I called him yesterday to see where i stand and he said that I should have my phone by Friday.

I did pay 14.95 for prioirty shipping. If it doesn't get here soon I ill be transition from iready to irate.

This was at the willow grove, pa at&t store.

Has anyone from that store received their direct fulfillment?
 
This really sucks. I can't believe we all still have to wait. I probably would have been better off driving 30 minutes and waiting in lines for hours at the Apple store than doing this direct fulfillment crap

You r def right i should have waited in line this is some crap

Just checked and I'm apparently first when it comes to DF orders from my store. I guess i can rest a little easier knowing that others don't hav their phones already from that store....
 
Here's a rundown of my wait which may help to ease the stress of others

Friday 1PM ET: Ordered Black 16GB on DF
Friday 5:30PM: Order Confirmation email arrived status on AT&T said FRT 1 backorder and phone no backorder
Saturday 5:59AM: Out of Stock/Backordered email and online status had both FRT and phone backordered
I did not check my status as frequently as it seems that some did but the phone backorder status did change 2 times that I noticed throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Monday: Online Status was backordered for both most of day
Monday 9PM: last time I checked and both were backordered.
Tuesday 9AM: Checked status and it was shipped.
Tracking number indicates that it left warehouse around 6:30PM last night and will arrive at my local store by 3pm today.
The point is that the online tracking is not really that up to date with your actual status. If it says backordered it may already be shipped.

BTW, I still have not received any shipping notification email.

Remember, when you agreed to DF the phone from AT&T, they told you 5 business days. Assuming you did that on Friday, or Monday, that means that you would get it by this Friday at the latest.

I DF'ed mine on Friday at noon, and it shipped last night. I will have it today. Anyone who bought it later on Friday might get it tomorrow and those who bought it on Saturday will probably get it by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

If you are unhappy with this speed, then you should not have agreed to do the DF program. THEY SAID 5 BUSINESS DAYS!!!! Let them do their job and stop panicking. You will get your phone by Friday, as you planned. If you wanted it earlier, you could have sat in line for 4-6 hours at an Apple Store (they still have 4 hour lines yesterday). I, for one, was unwilling to wait in line and am happy that I am getting my phone without spending any time in line. I will go down there today as soon as I see the package lands in the office and activate it.

So, everyone, calm down. If you don't have your phones by Friday, than you can start worrying. Until then, remember, you signed up for this.
 
Ok here is my update. First of all, still not shipped. It is still showing on backorder. I went to the status site and entered a few numbers and found out that some ealier numbers shipped then there is a gap and then all others are on backorder as well. Does not make much sense. I am thinking about going to my local Apple store at Willowbend in Plano, TX and see what the lines are like there. May just pick up another one...

Tried to go in and place an order for an iPhone and was told they are now saying 30 days for direct fulfillment. So much for getting an iPhone anytime soon.
 
I checked the 5 orders preceding mine - the one right before me has shipped, but the order two before me has not. So I'm guessing that's down to the model ordered. However, it is nice to see that recent ones are shipping. I ordered the 8gb model, so I hope they get it out soon.
 
For everyone's sake...if you're posting in this thread please post the model that you ordered (8gb, 16gb black/white) and whether or not you have received it, your location etc. You'd be doing all of us a great service.

From someone that is going to get their phone today. I ordered mine before him and I'm still on back order. Oh and they didn't tell me 5 business days, they said I would probably have it by Monday.

Read the whole forums; every order is being pushed to FedEx Overnight whether you paid for priority shipping or not.
 
Looks like I will be asking for a refund or at least to offset the activation charge that is....well that is if I ever get my fone.
 
The 19th person ahead of me had theirs shipped today. To check just go one number down from your order number (218xx9, 218xx8, 218xx7, etc) until you see when people have gotten theirs shipped/received.

My order number has letters in it, and I can't decipher the order. I wonder if the order numbers have changed? my order number starts with XC.

My thoughts are: the at&t store quoted me 7 to 10 days. I think what some people are thinking is that last year, they did this same thing. and most of the iphone orders with direct fulfillment were processed in 3 to 5 days. I think thats why people are getting different answers from at&t employees.

we'll see. I sure hope I get mine sooner. Now, if 10 days go by, and I there is no update, well, that's just pure poor communication and poor service, but it also shows that demand is high. The challenge I see is that the Iphone is sold out in 21 states. Why would my at&t store get stock before the apple store?

I also wonder if the 1,000,000 phones includes direct fulfillment phones?
 
Sounds like the 30 day story I got from the one store was complete BS.

Went into another store and went ahead and ordered my 16gb white iPhone. Was quoted 14-21 days but they were processing the iPhones they received for customer orders placed on Friday so it might not be that long at all. I have to wait for a "VP" approval though to credit me back for the $200 extra :mad: they are charging me because even though the "Premier Business Customer Service" supervisor stated in my account that I qualified for the upgrade pricing due to internal communication issues they have to get approval first.

For those people claiming that their card was charged on Friday but their order was not "shipped", it was. Those orders shipped on Friday are being received by the stores today but they did say that the orders are not coming in in the order that they were created for some reason. For this store these are the first iphone shipments they have seen since before the launch.

Look for the 5 digit Order ID on your receipt.
