AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

Still Waiting

So i check the availbility every night and either the stores don't have it or i can't go in the morning to pick one up, i can't stand waiting , its killing me, apple needs to get their supply **** together.

I also updated my ruby script to clean it up a little more. Y'all are welcome to use it to keep tabs on your orders. I will warn you that the AT&T order status screen is probably a good 8 hours behind reality, though. I went to bed at 2 AM last night and mine was still on backorder when in reality it had shipped at 8:30 PM.

To run the script you can copy and past it into TextMate and just run it from there. if you don't have TM you can do the following:
- copy/paste the code from my blog (http://blog.websitesbybarrett.com/past/2008/7/18/iphone_backorder_status/) into some text editor on your mac
- remove the first line if you don't know where your ruby installation is located
- update the constants at the top (ORDER_NUMBER_LOWER_LIMIT, ORDER_NUMBER_UPPER_LIMIT, ZIPCODE)
- save it somewhere as att.rb
- open a terminal session and navigate to the directory where you saved the file
- type ruby att.rb

The script crashes when it reaches a canceled order.
 
Urg!!

I ordered my iphone 16gb black friday 7/11 around 3pm EST at Greer/Taylors, SC, after using the program from iphoneconvert.com I noticed that me and someone elses are the only ones that are still waiting and this is out of 50 people (majority of people who ordered on the 11th). Once I made the order AT&T charged my debit card, around monday it disapeared. Last night the charge re-appeared....Is this a hint???...Will it ship soon???
 
I ordered Friday at 11am and its here. 16gb black.

Oh and good news, ATT credited my account for the extra cost that I paid for priority shipping. I didn't even have to ask!

I see. Sorry, I didn't notice the post above.

It's quite possible that it's going to ship. Just notice if the funds are actually removed from your account rather than just a hold put on them.

Hope you get your phone very soon. I can't imagine how frustrated you must be, being one of the last two orders from your store.

Good luck and I hope you really enjoy it. And make sure they refund your shipping.

It is still pending on my bank account but it has taken it out of the balance...!?
 
I'm confused. i placed my preorder yesterday for the black 8gig, and today I get an email saying

Thank you for shopping with AT&T. Your iPhone has been reserved. An email will be sent when your iPhone order is shipped.

and it's no longer shown as backordered. Is this going to be a lot shorter than 10-21 days as they said?
 
Still waiting...

Was really hoping to get mine today. 16gb black ordered 12:00pm on 7/11. Still nothing and listed on backorder. Got my case I ordered on Wednesday, but nothing to put in it.

Guess I'll be waiting at least til Monday as no one delivers on Sundays.

Don't get caught up in the "on backorder - off backorder" thing. Mines done that every day since I placed the order.

But I hope it does ship early for you...
 
I'm still patiently waiting for mine. I'm about #65 in the queue at my store so it'll probably be another week or too. I'm so pumped.
 
Been Waiting and Watching

I have been waiting for my new iphone and I have been watching and reading this thread. Some of it has been very entertaining. I ordered my Iphone on Friday 07/11 at 8:30 PST. I just received checked the web site and it said it is in shipping status finally. Just wanted to give some of you all hope. I watched it for days going back and forth to backorder status. Finally the Ship Status. Yeah!!!! Hang in there all it should'nt be long.

Well after 8 days and 9 hrs of waiting, my phone has finally shipped. It shipped today around 9pm. I should recieve it by 3pm Monday. So close, but so far away. I ordered a 16G blk on the 11th in Orlando FL. I was quoted 5 - 7 days and my credit card still shows the charge as pending. Hang in their guys. The phone gods are working their mojo.

My check list:
1. Ordered a XyloT3 case. ships sometime after the 24th (checked)
2. A case for my iphone/T3, yes I'm overprotective (checked)
3. Additional wall plug and car charger (checked)
4. Anti-reflective screen protector, need this until T3 case arrives (checked)
5. Iphone shipped (checked) :D
 
Yep officially no more 7/11 orders at my store.


8 gig DF'd Friday 7/11 AM (canceled)

16-blk DF'd Monday AM waiting....

F'd self 7/11 AM by not making up my mind at the time....

Only 6 orders ahead of me. From my calculations 2 are 16-blk 1 is a white and 3 are 8gig.

I think I still in better shape than some people, I can't complain.... Stupid ATT....
 
I ordered yesterday afternoon and it is showing shipped as of tonight. I can't believe it shipped so fast, if it's true. There is even a fedex tracking number. It arrives Monday.
