AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

Yesterday (7/18), my friend checked 2 ATT stores; both were out. He then went into an Apple Store in "the mall" and had a 16GB Black fully configured including a phone number transfer from Sprint in a little over an hour.

I'm guessing the infrastructure isn't very accurate.
 
I've collected some DF stats from an ATT Store in San Jose, CA.
(this is for all phones not just iPhones but I'm guessing the percentage is pretty high)

This is a summary as of 7/19/08 @ 11:19 pm PDT.

The average time from order to ship is 4.68 days
Every order I checked was shipped FedEx overnight by 3pm.
 
Yesterday (July 19), I went to the ATT store in Southlake blvd, close to Southlake Towncenter, and they were out. The guy told me they are taking orders and will take 3-4 WEEKS to get here. Yes, you read it right, I typed WEEKS!!!!! Totally insane! Kind of have to go through ATT store because I'm trying to get my company Corp discount.
 
I was one of the first people to do DF on 7/11 for bl 16gb. 9:18 Eastern time. Just got notice I will have it Monday. I was ticked at AT&T like everybody else last week. But I have to admit the phone is arriving within the 5 to 7 working days of the order.

I also got a white phone from Apple Store for my wife on Thursday. FYI Apple Site not accurate on store supplies. Call the Apple stores close to you. Just have patience.

I have to admit that AT&T and Apple are doing exactly what they said.

Now we can all get fired up when the 32gb or 64gb shows up in November and we can all start the bit$%ing again...

P.S. The white phone seems to be built well and the battery life seems to be just as good as my original iPhone.
 
How long did it take for you guys to get a e-mail that it has been shipped. I got the order acknowledgement e-mail and I follow the link and it says that it hasnt even been entered into the system yet.

Is this a backordered status?? :confused:

I ordered Wednesday July 16th at 6 pm est. :apple:

the easiest way to look it up on their sight is to use your contact number, for me it was my home phone, then enter the zip for the store you ordered it from.

The shipped emails show up the next day. The email notification are some what slow. Your best bet is to keep checking on it at :https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/order_status
 
Has anyone who ordered a black 16gb on Sunday had it shipped yet?

Mine keeps randomly getting off backorder but then being thrown back on. Kind of frustrating...

This damn thread is the biggest tease ever!!! lol

To us who are patiently waiting ofcourse.

Like mentioned above no one should be expecting nothing today since its Sunday. My impatient @$$ will continue to check status tomorrow.

What is wrong with us????? - I don't think I've obsessed over anything like this before. I may need therapy y the time the damn thing gets here.
 
so everyone before me seems to have shipped (finally). we are now down to 6 unshipped from the 11th. hopefully itll go out today but who knows. super frustrating as my current phone is broken but...
 
I'm 63rd in line at my ATT&T Store. I'm hoping to get mine by the end of thisweek or early the following week. I'm basing this on the amount of orders fulfilled at my store this past week. I'm still patiently waiting.

is there any truth in this rumor? anybody have a way to verify if this happened?
 
hey guys, i ordered my 8gb iphone on the 15th (last tuesday)
and pretty much like everyone else it was with DF, the in store rep told me
it'd take about 3-5 days to come in, so i was hoping it'd be in by this past friday but nothing yet and my status online is still showing "in progress" for FRT and PHONE" so hopefully when i check it in the morning at work ill see some good news.

i dont know if they count weekends, well probably not, so technically its only been 3 days for me, so hopefully ill get mines sometime this week, or at least see that its been shipped.​
