Sometimes I miss Folsom, nice little town. Especially the new restaurants in Old Folsom. The proximity to Tahoe was nice as well, as was being able to drive to Los Angeles to visit family rather than fly in from Denver.

I just checked mine again and it did the same thing.
Since my status still says "in progress" , I'm going to guess that it's probably not considered "backordered" now but in the process of shipping. This may be a positive sign.
Hopefully my wait is almost over 8GB, ordered 7/13. I show I am #8 in queue to be sent to the store but dont know if the others ahead of me are 8gb or 16gb. In hopes it ships tomorrow. I am getting very low with my remaining new customer 30 day exchange period! Keeping fingers crossed.
I hate to burst your bubble but if you ordered a phone other than the White 16GB then you will be waiting at least 7-10 BUSINESS days, possibly more.
The "switching" from 1 to 0 on backorder occurs whenever the warehouse your order is tagged to receives stock of your phone. Just b/c your order goes to 0 doesn't mean its being shipped.

It always says in progress and it flips from 0 to 1 intermittently. You can't be sure of anything until it says shipped my friend! It's going to be a long wait...
Thanks for that info, I would have never figured that out!....I confirmed that my black 16GB has still not shipped & is still listed as "backordered"..I ordered on the 12th after waiting in line Saturday morning @ 5:00 AM.
I probably would have gotten a phone had I waited, but after standing in line for a few hours, I realized that the 16GB's would be sold out by the time I got in so I bailed....no sense settling for something that I'm going to have for 2 years. They told me 7-10 days...don't think it's going to happen now.
I actually went to 2 stores that morning and found out that both stores had only 40 phones each.
I ordered a second black 16GB today and they told me 10-21 days.

Really? My AT&T store said "10-21 days" as well when I asked how long it would be. I was a little
/ about it too, but I asked, "even if I ordered it a week ago?!" and he said "no if you ordered the 13th or before, 10-14 days". Did you clarify with your AT&T rep? Otherwise they might've thought you were referring to a new order. As of today, it's been 6 business days for me, 8 days if you count weekends...

My Black 16GB iPhone 3G has finally shipped!!! I ordered last saturday (7/12) at noon. I will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Good luck to you guys, this wait has been very painful for me. AT&T is too busy w/ the backorders right now. And honestly, it's probably an easier system. You go in, order it, and pick it up a week later. No long lines, no crowds, etc etc. It's kind of crazy that apple stores have lines EVERY DAY still. Sure the waiting sucks, but at least you it saves you awkward conversations with nerdy apple fanboys in line at the apple store

Most apps don't even seem to be larger than 1MB. Most of my apps are in the 300-500kb range.

Everyone, I bid you a fine farewell! As of today, July 21, at 5:05 PM, my 8gb IPhone 3G has shipped. The website didn't update until nearly 11:30 so to those who weren't sure, the website is VERY delayed. I ordered mine on the 13th so its been like 5-7 business days. The wait seemed unbareable but I'm sure it will be worth it. For how annoying and unhelpful those AT&T guys are, they actually give a good time estimate. Everyone, keep hanging on! Wow this really blows! I spent a good deal of time in line while in Anchorage. Due to the delay I was forced to give up my place - very disappointing. Upon returning to Juneau, I was able to place an order on July 14th.
I was told I'd be notified upon my phone shipment. Today is the 21st and still no notice from ATT when it will ship! This really stinks. Any word on when the backlog of orders will break?

I ordered my 16GB Black on 7/14...no shipment yet either, but was told 5-10 BUSINESS days (so that doesn't count the weekends). That would put it at 6 business days today, and lo and behold, the hold on my bank account was released. Rumor has it that once it goes back on, your phone is about to ship. I also moved up 12 spots in the queue to #18 overnight, so there is light at the end of the tunnel -- hang on!
