AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

Just curious -- did you get all 3 phones at the discount price, or did you pay full price for them? And when you pick up the DF phone will you have to add another line or do you already have a line you can add it to.

The DF was discounted (8GB), these two were not (16GB White).

I have three lines on my account.

My wife and I went to cancel our DF orders b/c we're sucking it up and getting on line at the Apple store. I went into the AT&T store and they said they can't cancel the order until it comes in. Sounds like nannigans to me- can anyone verify this?

Thanks for the responses. I'll be trying for a second time to cancel my DF orders tonight based on what I've seen here. Also, you can most definitely buy an iphone at an Apple store if you have a DF order, as I'm now speaking from experience. I'm guessing that the AT&T clerks get commission if the charge goes through, and are thus reluctant to cancel an order. We'll see what happens now that I'm armed with knowledge (and knowledge is power!)

I ordered my 8g black Iphones on 07/18/08 @ ~1600. My account was charged today, and the order_status webpage now says "ordered 1" "backordered 0." I have not received a conformation email...but I'd bet they are coming soon :)

I can only assume that they will be shipping within the next day. Sounds like my wait is nearly over.


Heads high.....I loved my Iphone V1. I'm certain I will love the 3G version.

I'll keep this updated with the progress of getting it.

:eek: I ordered my 8GB on the 16th, that's my phone! Give it back!
 
I hate to get sucked into this thread, but here goes. I'm #13 in the queue (order 186 at this store) and had placed the order Monday the 14th. It looks like it should ship tomorrow or Thursday.

I am i the same situation as you, although I am hoping it gets here soon reading all the other posts it seems common and we still have some waiting to do.
 
well as of today when i checked my order status...the FRT still says 1 for back order
i dont mind waiting but ill be much happier when i see that tracking number lol

but for phone its at 0...so maybe mines is on the way...i hope
i work for UPS but i guess they chose fed ex as the carrier
makes me wish i worked for them so i could catch my package coming in to
ship out to the store lol.
 
haha, I feel your pain but not really.

actually hearing this news makes me feel accomplished, like pulling an all-nighter at the local apple store really did me any good.
 
I ordered my 16GB white iPhone 3G today and they already charged my card. But I can't see the status on the website..:confused:

Put in sales order numbers on either side of yours. For instance, if your order number is 29006, put in something like 29000 and 29020 to get the 20 orders around yours, thus showing where you are in relation to the other orders in the queue... hope that helps... I have become TOO familiar with the wheresmydamniphone site!

you have to try and figure out about how many orders ahead of and after you.

I'd start be entering an order number 10 less than yours and 10 more than yours. e.g. - if your order number is 55555, the for the start number I'd enter 55545 and for the end number I'd enter 55565.

you'll get a list. You can go as far as you want in either direction to get an idea of where you're positioned as far as a wait.
 
I bought mine last Tuesday at an AT&T store and the guy told me it would be 7-10 days, but most people were getting theres in 2-5. When i called back today to find out if i would still get it in 7-10, he told me i was basically full of it and he never told me 7-10, he said he was telling everyone 10-21 but they should receive it in 7-10. Nice right? Now ill be lucky if i get it before August.
P.S. Still flip flopping between 0 and 1 on backorder.

Yeah, my ATT guy said 3-5 days last saturday 12th, and then tried to back away from it, but I caught him and told him that I have a witness who also heard his crap and he relented and said he "...meant 7-10" I HATE that crap from people trying to sell you stuff! Like I don't know what he said... BTW, I am on day (business) 7 of my 3-5 day wait...

Yea, this ***** ridiculous, and they think they get away with it and their so sly? lol
 
Just checked my status on whereismydamniphone.com and it had me listed as #1 in the queue... what does that mean exactly? Am I #1 for my particular AT&T store?
 
On that wheresmydamniphone site, there are people who ordered after me who have already received theres and people before me too that still havent, everybody else see this when they check too?

Everyone sees this. Some model phones ship faster than others, the white ones ship in a lot of case within 24 hours. the blk 16 gig are the most coveted therefore will take longer to ship.

all i get is this msg.

No Order (my order#) found Or ATT server is slow....

My order id is 2 letters followed by 5 numbers so thats what i want to use correct? or is it from the transaction id?
 
It means that you SHOULD be next in line...

I was #2 when I got up this morning, yet at least 8 phones shipped this afternoon, and now i'm #1. How's that for a tease...
