I'm sure that AT&T never intended for their tracking system to be used in this manner. It was designed so that you could check your own order status, but some clever people figured out how the order numbers were written and now people have made tools to check orders for other customers. It wouldn't surprise me if they change the system in the future so that this isn't possible.
Ughhh there goes our ability to see where we are in line. Thanks AT&T. Maybe if you'd provide a better order status checker, people wouldn't need to code their own ways to use it.
Now we can not use http://www.wheresmydamniphone.com/queue.php to see the order line.
Some please develop a tool to look up with the phone number![]()
Way to piss already annoyed customers ATT.
Maybe if they provided information we wouldn't be looking for holes in their systems.
Bad? No, completely normal... It will always be "In progress" until it ships (unless, I assume some catastorphy happens and the order gets cancelled *shudders at the thought*) As far as the backorder number on the phone flipping between 1 and 0, it appears that when they receive a batch of phones at the ATT where(ismyphone)house, the backorder number goes to 0 on the phone, and after they ship them out, the backorders that didn't get filled from that shipment, go back to 1. It does seem that the closer your phone gets to shipping, the longer it spends with phone backorder = 0. Until the damn thing ships, the FRT will always be backorder = 1. Some wierd thing they do at ATT to keep freight and phones matched up... they probably want to make sure they don't accidentally ship a big box of air to an expectant customer...
I ordered 7/16 at ~6:30pm. My 8GB spent all day yesterday at 0, then went back to 1 in the evening. Now a few hours ago, it went back to 0. Nothing has been charged to my CC yet.
Ignore the FRT line unless you see a tracking number.
The Backorder 0-1 works like this.
When it is at 1 - the warehouse is out of phones. They are all backordered. When they get a shipment, it toggles to 0, because the warehouse has stock, but when the warehouse runs out of stock, you get returned to backorder.
It's frustrating, because you were never off of backorder status, but the warehouse temporarily was.
Now, Monday there was a long time before the backorder toggled back to 1, and there was a large shipment that day. Someone noted that it averaged about 2 phones per store nationwide, and I checked my local store with the scripts that used to work, and my local store (Mobile, AL) got 2 phones. So, I'm guessing that you can estimate the size of the shipment the warehouse got by how long the 0 stays in backorder status.
Your bank account will likely update before the web site, so when you see the charge hit your account, expect your phone the next day. You might get the tracking number late that day or on the morning of delivery. And the email saying it shipped arrived to my inbox after the phone had arrived in the store.
The AT&T Status site is still showing giving me the option to check the status of phones via order numbers, so I can still check the status of orders before me manually. I am wondering if wheresmyiphone stopped working because AT&T blocked the wheresmyphone server.
