Oh ... i figured this part out earlier today i used the contact number option. So thank you for your response. You helped me a lot.

I picked up my 16GB black iPHone this afternoon and I'm playing around with it tonight....10 days exactly from when I ordered it...just as the guy in the store said. I have another black 16GB on order and it's scheduled to arrive 10-21 days.
It is worth the wait...for those that haven't received theirs yet...you are absolutely going to love it.

Just checked my status on whereismydamniphone.com and it had me listed as #1 in the queue... what does that mean exactly? Am I #1 for my particular AT&T store?

It means that, for the range of order numbers you entered into the site, yours is first. To accurately find your position in the queue you have to be sure to put in several order numbers ahead of yours.

I ordered a 16GB black on 7/13 in one of the AT&T stores in Little Rock, AR. A friend of mine went to the same store and ordered his phone (same model) three hours later. His phone shipped today, but mine still indicates it's on backorder. I started at number 92 in the queue for my store, last night I was number 6, and now I'm number 3.

website that shows what number your in line...HELPED ME OUT!

Try this website. It shows what number you are in line...i have no idea why some peoples orders are shipped b4.

but it helped me

basically just enter the zip code of the store of where you bought your iphone then put a range of orders

for example if your order number 724 put in a start range of like 720 and an end of 730 or however you want to do it.

ugh

Two 16GB white iPhones.

Mine: signal issues, can only connect to internet/email via WiFi. Have yet to see the "3G" network indicator on my display.

My Wife's: works perfectly, shows full 3G connection when mine has one bar and no network type indicator.

Checking your order status

me neither. Nadda, Zip. try tracking with order # etc but nothing comes up either.

You can check your order status with your order number and zip code. The trick is not to use your home address zip code, but the zip code of the AT&T store where you ordered your phone. It's very likely that they are different. That should pull up your oder status. I was getting the same error, but then I decided to try the store zip code which is different from my home zip code and it brought up by order status. Unfortunately I placed my order on 07-13-08 and I have yet to receive my phone.

It turns out my iPhone shipped the same day as my friend's. It just took the site longer to update for mine. My phone will be here today!!

I am i the same situation as you, although I am hoping it gets here soon reading all the other posts it seems common and we still have some waiting to do.

It seems so.

My order_status just reverted back to B/O.

Oh welll.....the saga continues.

The light at the end of the tunnel!

My Black 16G, ordered July 12th, has been shipped and is due here today! Take heart folks, as I was checking my status up until late last night (~11:00PM) and it showed as not on backorder but not yet shipped, but the tracking info indicates it actually DID ship yesterday and will be here by 3:00pm! Frankly, I am glad I didn't find out it had shipped yesterday as now that I know it is on it's way, I can barely keep my mind on my work! I would have hated to have been unable to sleep last night as well! For those of you who have been asking about what the code sequence means in the shipped info from the ATT website, here's the line for my shipment as reported by www.wheresmydamniphone.com/queue.php:

WALTER PXXXXXX 29XXX 07/12/08 shipped 07/22/08 1 1 0 F 2 PHONE

SO if that junk in there between the date and the "PHONE" means anything, as I said, mine is a 16G Black... and I get it today!! WOO HOO! Thanks to you all for keeping an impatient guy from feeling like the only one who has bought into the "instant gratification" mentality so deeply, that he's ready to pull his hair out at an 8 day wait! I am going to start a phone-in service:

"Thank you for calling the Instant gratification hotline! If you would like to press one, press one now... If you would like to press two, press two now..."

I will try to clear my head long enough after I get the phone to come back and relay info on my activation process to help all of those who, like me, were surviving the wait by living vicariously through the experience of other successful iPhonetians! Take care all, and thanks again!:p

My 16gb white was ordered yesterday and shipped yesterday just checked the site and is scheduled for delivery today.... LOL not much backorder on my order.

Bad? No, completely normal... It will always be "In progress" until it ships (unless, I assume some catastorphy happens and the order gets cancelled *shudders at the thought*) As far as the backorder number on the phone flipping between 1 and 0, it appears that when they receive a batch of phones at the ATT where(ismyphone)house, the backorder number goes to 0 on the phone, and after they ship them out, the backorders that didn't get filled from that shipment, go back to 1. It does seem that the closer your phone gets to shipping, the longer it spends with phone backorder = 0. Until the damn thing ships, the FRT will always be backorder = 1. Some wierd thing they do at ATT to keep freight and phones matched up... they probably want to make sure they don't accidentally ship a big box of air to an expectant customer...

Hahaha. That's good to know. I don't want to make a line at my local Apple Store I already went yesterday and it was too long. I just placed a DF order. I think the hardest part is waiting for the phone to arrive. Right now, I'm stuck with my crappy RAZR :(

OK so according to my wheresmyiphone queue i am next in line to get mine shipped. but the thing is I've been next in line for two days now. i know i sound impatient but hey who isn't. so my question is how frequently do these warehouses receive shipments and in what quantities are the received. i know this is a hard question to answer unless you have connections but i just need some sort of assurance that my phone will be shipped soon. Thank you

Not really. It's the White iPhone and ATT/Apple have plenty of stock. I ordered White on Monday because I was growing impatient (July 21) and it's shipped and arriving today (July 23rd). So the white's iphones are not backordered.

Try DF black 16GB iphone and the wait begins. My black 16GB iphone DF on July 13, finally shipped yesterday and will arrive July 23 (today).

Now I have 2 iphones arriving at the same time. I will definately activate the black 16GB iphone. Not sure what to do with the white iPhone that will arrive at the ATT store. If they give it to me for $299 also, I will take it, if it's for $499, I will have to rethink about taking 2 home today. I do not plan on reselling either of them.

I think what makes those of us who ordered through AT&T seem impatient is the fact that we are sitting here waiting while we hear the stories of all the Apple stores receiving stock daily and many people walking in, purchasing and walking out, I know there are lines, but still.

Best I can tell the warehouses seem to get shipments daily, it all depends on what model phones they get. And god only know how AT&T decides to fill orders because it sure as hell isn't first in, first out.

well i just checked my status on that website ive seen posted in here, and it seems that the folks who ordered the same day as me (the 15th), the first 3 have already been shipped, so now im number 3 in Queue for that day, but there's still orders that havent been shipped for the 14th but hopefully my wait is almost over

Seems like shipments have been slowing the last couple days. My store only shipped 2 yesterday. Inching towards the finish line.

i kinda get what some people have been saying now
it would be so much better if they showed what model and color other folks ordered since it seems some are shipping faster than others

at least that way we'd all know exactly where we stand

I'm sure that AT&T never intended for their tracking system to be used in this manner. It was designed so that you could check your own order status, but some clever people figured out how the order numbers were written and now people have made tools to check orders for other customers. It wouldn't surprise me if they change the system in the future so that this isn't possible.
