AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

😡 😕I hear you I feel the same way its just taking to long. I ordered mine on the Jul 14 (I couldn't upgrade until then without paying an extra $200) and the lady said at the most 7 days. I called customer service and now they are saying 10-21 days...I have been waiting for this phone (and/or the Meizu) since super bowl sunday when I totally demolished my first iphone.😕😡

AT&T is doing some "site maintenance" again. See quote from their site:

Yeah, they told me 7-20 days when i went in to buy one just a few days ago. I suspect, though, that they're not delaying the shipment... they're probably telling people 7-10 days and orders arriving at day 11 is just unacceptable for folks... so they say 7-20 days and they shine on day 11. Or... knock on wood,... they really do mean day 20... or 21... grrr.
 
Just called ATT (611) and the rep did some digging and found an official memo stating orders before 7/15 will be 7-10 days.
Orders from the 15th and later will be 10-21 days.

Also did the survey option and at the end was able to leave a voice-mail with some polite venting on how poorly ATT is handling communications with it's customers. Nothing will come of it but I felt better.
 
I went to an AT&T store and they were telling everyone who wanted an iPhone that they could order them and it would take 72 hours for the white iPhone to arrive.

Then people asked about the black 16GB and the 8GB and said up to 21 days.

The thing that got me was the 72 hours. It seems like they are fulfilling their promise. (Hopefully 😀)

Yeah the white ones seem to be coming quick. There were orders after me that got fulfilled within 2 days of ordering. Of course I'm assuming those were white ones.

Edit: As for myself, I'm still waiting for my phone. I ordered it last Wednesday and hopefully it'll be here by the end of the week. It sucks that the sites don't work anymore because now I'm pretty much in the dark. Boo!
 
It finally shipped! After waiting since the 12th and the constant changing of "1" and "0" on back order, my black 16 gb iPhone finally shipped today and is expected to be at the ATT store tomorrow. I finally have faith. Good luck for the rest and I hope you get your iPhone soon.

I ordered my 16GB on 7/19 and like everyone else its going from 1 to 0 to back to 1 on the back-order list. When the lists were working i was 102 on the list. I'm going crazy not being able to have my iPhone on its way. Oh well guess i will just have to make due till it gets here.
 
Waiting for my iPhone to get here reminds me of the big wait a few months back for my MacPro to show up. Hopefully the wait won't be similar in length.

In light of this.... If I ordered a black 16 but wouldn't necessarily care about having a white one... should I cancel and switch to a white one?

I sold mine before the announcement over a month ago and am still waiting, i'm using a ****** gophone so consider yourself lucky, good luck though, lol and my invisible shield already showed up,

i dont think they will let you. I called ATT and asked if they could cancel the order if say i found one at an Apple store. they lady told me to call the store i bought it from, so i eventually got ahold of that store, then the lady there told me that she cant cancel the order until the phone comes in, so i would have to wait anyways.

😡 this whole system they have is ****ed up! good thing they monopolized the iphone or i wouldnt be buying from them!

That AT&T lady fed you a load of crap b/c it's been done before. There are conflicting stories depending on which AT&T store you go to. Try calling another local store b/c they might be able to do it for you if your store won't. You can cancel it as long as it hasn't shipped already.

well im gonna attempt to go to Apple store 2moro at lunch to get one, if im able to get it, im going right to the ATT store and TELLING them to cancel the order. Or ill block the payment from going through with ATT haha

Can't change, you have cancel and start over.

If you ordered before the 15th your wait is supposed to be 7-10 days. 15th or later is 10-21 days. That is according to a ATT rep I talked to at 611.

Just got back from cancel/reorder. I am amazed at the ignorance of the folks at the AT&T store. I was asked why I was doing it and I said that the wait was shorter for the white as opposed to the black. to which the reply was. "I don't know who told you that, sir but things are crazy." I said I was aware of that and had noticed that based on order tracking info and friends that the whites were shipping much faster. "What do you mean tracking info?"



*sigh*

the guy in line right before me when i ordered on the 17th got his yesterday. I'm hoping that i will get mine Friday or Monday.
