My freight is on 0 too, but who knows what that means. Seems the AT&T stores in my area have some in stock now, why wouldn't I have mine too then.

Ordered two 8g blacks on 7-14-08 at ~1600 and they are shipped and scheduled to arrive tomorrow by 3pm.

I ordered it Monday, got processed Tuesday, shipped Today, it'll be here tomorrow from what it says on Fedex.... I CAN'T WAIT! I <3 AT&T/ at the moment So I was bumming now that we don't have a tool to see what number we are in line and started cruising the forums looking for people to complain with me. lol Then I found someone's idea that worked brilliantly. This is tedious but it will help let you know what orders before you have been shipped and such. Give it a go.
Call this number : 1-800-331-0500
Once you call the number get transferred to the automated sales section. Once you're in there check the status of an order. Input your order number and check your status as usual. Now you can back track other orders and hear their status as well. Rinse, repeat, etc. This will give you a decent idea of where you are in the line.
I did this and was shocked to find that all of the orders except for one had shipped before me (I knew most of my info prior to the other sites going down since I was checking those things religiously). I'm hoping for a surprise tomorrow morning but it probably won't get to me until Friday if I'm lucky. I ordered my 16GB Black on 7/15. Hope this info helps you guys out. I'll be keeping the number near by as well. It's not a clean, neat website but it's better then nothing!

this sucks i bought my iPhone on the 17th and they told me 2-3 weeks and my online status keeps changing from 1 to 0..this blows..is this how they are gonna treat their new customers?

It's not really AT&T's fault. For whatever reason, Apple either grossly underestimated demand or had a huge error in their manufacturing and logistics networks. AT&T can't do much about it if Apple isn't giving them the phones in a timely manner.
Order Status WebSite Changed
The AT&T order status web site now only shows pull-down options to search for my order by phone number (either cell or home)! It used to provide the option to use the order number from the e-mail AT&T sent to me -- which is what I had always used to check order status.
Now that option is gone. And the system will not recognize my cell number. Any ideas about what to do? Anyone else have this happen?

No idea. You could try calling your local Apple store and figure out where you are in line at your store. Two days ago, I wad #64 and I know for a fact I have moved up since then (orders ahead of me have been filled). So far, my store has met all orders within 9 days from the order date. Based on the trend data I gathered from wheresmyphone before it went down, there is approximately a 50% chance mine will ship today and a 50% chance it will ship tomorrow. So far, orders placed on the 14th and 15th at zipcode 32504 have stayed within my prediction

Bizarre. I ordered on 7/21 and my order number starts with 16 (016xxx).
Mine shipped this morning at 6:00 am. 2 16 gig black, ordered 7/13.

Phone shipped early a.m. on 7/24 with scheduled delivery
for 7/25 by 3:00 p.m.
Also, for those experiencing problems using the website to
check their status, I had the same problem but was able
to get a status via the phone route - just dial 877-782-8870
and follow the prompts.

Thanks so much for that tip. I found out I moved up to #2 and a couple after me shipped as well. Hopefully today will be the day!
Yeah apparently orders after 7/14 or 7/15 (I can't remember exactly what it said) are a 10-21 day wait and ones before are 7-10 days, which is right on schedule with my 7/14 order.

My black 16gb, ordered the morning of 7/14 (probably about 10:30am central time). Is still showing 0 under backordered (since 4pm yesterday afternoon)... Must be close...
Ordered on 7/13/, 7 to 10 days - shipped this morning for delivery 7/25 -

All the phone status line tells me is what I already know: the phone is on backorder
You are able to check the order status of other orders using "shipping order numbers" before and after your own. Since you ordered on the 18th, you probably are pretty far down the queue, so that method wouldn't be as beneficial to you as it is to people in the top 10 or 20.
Buying a Second Iphone
Those of you who have bought a second Iphone, how is AT&T handling that? Are you getting the same price as you did on the first one? I paid $299 for a 16GB and would love to buy a second to resell, but I'm thinking AT&T would charge me $600.
What happens if you buy a second one and they start to activate it in the store and you say "no don't worry about it, thanks" ?

You don't have a choice. They have to activate it in store. That's what's been causing the long lines outside Apple stores.
I ordered my 2 black 16gig Monday at noon (1 for me, 1 for my wife) and they've both been backordered since yesterday afternoon with no change. They were supposedly #1 and #2 in the queue line before the system was closed down. Hopefully they ship today.
