She also told me that there is ABSOLUTELY NO FAN DISCOUNTS for iPhone 3G service. I thought we just couldn't get a discount on the hardware.

I called business customer care and they confirmed that I could get the FAN discount. I wonder how many people at my local store have been screwed out of their FAN discounts.

Right. There is no FAN discount for the iPhone Data plan. But your voice plan can get the FAN discount.
 
The saga continues... I called my business rep and they had no clue what is going on. The local store mentioned sometime this week. I guess the upside is that the status hasn't changed yet, meaning it is still showing ordered vs. back ordered.
 
mine was backordered 0 ....now its back to 1. just saying this system doesnt seem to tell much at all untill you actually get a tracking number.
 
Mine also just flipped back to 1 being backordered. ATT really has some issues, and they need to be fixed

1st: i'm NOT bragging, just giving info away... letting you know it's best to go to Apple Store instead of AT&T store.

2nd: why are you so sensative about it (do you have issues???)?

3rd: NOW bragging, i didn't score one, i got 4... more bragging, they are for myself, wife, and 7 & 13 year daughters.

you see the difference, that's bragging... DON"T be so sensative; it's not for you to take it personally or be upset/sad/disturb about it. :eek:
 
The "Backorder" flag changes for everyone, I suspect

Along with everyone else, I have been alternately excited and frustrated by the pinging back and forth of the backorder flag from 1 to 0 and back to 1 on my order status page.

And then I had one of those "how could I have been so stupid!" moments:

The "backorder" label just tells us if AT&T has stock, not whether we are going to get any of them. A bunch of iPhones show up in the loading dock and the backorder flag moves to "0" for everyone waiting. These are doled out to the lucky few (who get a tracking number) and then the flag switches back to "1" and the rest of us groan...
 
Now giving an Iphone or any phone for that matter to an 7yr old is a joke. Just my 2cent.

I ordered two 16G whites on Friday at about 1:20pm EST. Online status has ping-ponged between "backordered" and "ordered" all weekend. One interesting note - when I ordered the phones on Friday (direct fulfillment) in the local store, I was going to order one black one white, but when he tried to put in the order for the Black, it immediately showed it as backordered, so I changed it to two whites.

As of a few minutes ago, I now show as one being shipped and one still waiting (the higher order number has already shipped, the lower hasn't!). I'm assuming that the other will show as shipped very shortly as well.

It left Fort Worth at 3:13pm and is due to arrive here by 3:00pm Tuesday!
 
Ok now I'm annoyed. Ordered a 8 gb model on Saturday at an ATT store. I knew I wasn't getting my phone right away and realistically expected it would take a week to get the phone. The salesman told me Tuesday or Wednesday. Then I received the back order email this morning. I wasn't suprised or annoyed. Around 3:00 PM EDT I checked the order status on-line to find my phone was no longer on backorder. Cool. I then re-checked the order status about 30 minutes ago to learn I'm back on back order. At this point I called ATT to find out what the real timeline might be. I spoke to a pleasent but basically useless rep who basically told me the phone's backordered and it will get to me when it gets to me. This is just silly.

I've never purchased a cell phone except for the "free with service plan" phone but the iPhone 3G's capabilities sufficently impressed me to make the jump, change carriers, and drop the $200. I'm still comfortable with that decision but I really don't understand why Apple and ATT have such back assward delivery systems. I think the length of this backorder will affect my interest in purchasing accessories and non-free apps
 
Mine keeps on going from backordered to not.

Highly annoying.

Placed the order at around 10:00am Friday, too, if that makes a difference

Order Status Page Update to Shipped: ~7:15AM PT
Tracking Info shows that the order was actually shipped and picked up by FedEx at 3:03AM

2nd 16GB iPhone Order
Order Status Page Update to Shipped: ~2:00PM PT
Tracking Info shows that the order was actually shipped and picked up by FedEx at 10:41AM


It looks like the order gets shipped then the tracking info gets updated.

I hope this makes you feel little better.
 
And I'm back off of the back order list. One wonders if making a polite but inquisitive call moves one's phone up the list?
 
I, like many others were told 5-7 days and the phone would be in a store near me. I ordered my black 16gig friday around noon, and i was just wondering is the 5-7 days business days? or just days in general. It seems to me that in a release such as this there would be people working on saturday, and sunday, in order to supply the high demand.
Anyways, i was just curious on a timeline.
 
I was told that the warehouse is near DFW. Well for my Dallas area that is. NO change in status, back to on back order. As for working overnight, don't know and don't care at this point. Will keep an eye out for a possible track at some point.
Oh and yes the money was already taken and the additional hold in the same amount was not released yet. It's a beautiful day.

I think you are probably right. It went to 0 about 10 am then back to 1 by 11. It is probably the status for the warehouse and not the individual order.
 
i have tried to call both numbers listed in this thread and the agents tell me that they cannot check order status and that I can only get that info from the store i ordered from. Has anyone else gotten this response? I ordered Friday at 11:45am EST and online still says back ordered.
