You can cancel DFs - walk in and "change" your mind and once they cancel the current DF, show them your new iPhone and say thanks and walk out.

thats prolly what ill end up doing, say "im gonna go back to my old iphone instead its taking too long" then after its cancelled, pull it out and proceed to check email, "did i say old iphone? i meant NEW iphone"

Well, I don't know if this is the first post regarding this problem, but here goes...I received the notice that my iphone was shipping yesterday to be delivered by 3 p.m. today. When I checked the Fedex tracking website this morning, delivery of the phone had been attempted but failed because AT&T shipped it to the address of a now defunct Cingular Wireless store. I've spoken with Fedex and hopefully they will still get it delivered today to the AT&T store which replaced the Cingular store, but if you were previously a Cingular customer before the merge with AT&T, take note....assuming I'll actually get this phone rather than it returning to TX, does anyone know if the phones are being charged before you pick them up? Since they're switching everything over to the new phone via the activation process, does this mean I could potentially be without service until I can get it charged?

I haven't charged my phone since I got it yesterday... and the battery is still going!
I did turn 3G off (and wifi on) and I didn't play any games so that might be why. My battery seems to be 1/3 full right now. So IMO the phone comes pretty charged, you should have no problems using it for a few hours.
Mine shipped yesterday!!! I checked last night and it was showing that it was still on backorder. I got the email at 10:30am this morning and when I looked it up it had actually shipped yesterday and was out for delivery today! I'll be heading to the store this evening

I'm so frustrated! I ordered a Black 16g back on the 14th and was told it would be 7-10 days max and i've checked and I'm now #4 at my store. I was bored this afternoon so I called ATT and talked to a woman who looked up my account and then said she went into FedEx to see how they were doing and she said that i shouldn't expect it until the 31st!!! How can this be? I'm getting very angry with ATT.
Why AT&T? Apple is the one not providing enough product for demand. If anything, Apple is keeping AT&T reps in the dark, which in turn is forcing them to guess as to when phones are coming in based on when others have come in. Then you get pissed off because the phone did not come in because the rep was wrong because supply from Apple is not coming in at a constant rate, but intermittently large and small quantities.
Mine says the same thing. I got an 8 GB shipped this morning coming to CA. I have read some previous posts earlier in this thread about Saturday deliveries so it's a possibility. Can someone who was in the same situation last Friday verify this though? (Even though I don't know why they would still be checking this thread. Hey, it's worth a try.)
It's Standard Overnight delivery which most of the time will not be delivered on Saturdays.
If the shipping said something like Standard Overnight - Saturday Delivery then it may get there tomorrow. It still may get there tomorrow, since I'm sure AT&T is a huge account for FedEx. I work at a dealership, and we get parts deliveries sometimes on Saturdays when scheduled for regular delivery.
Here's to hoping ours both arrive to our respective AT&T stores tomorrow
I'm curious about this too as mine will probably ship today. I would think if it were an "overnight" or "priority" package it would ship next day. Hence the next day air sort of thing. Those people who got their last week probably aren't on these boards anymore tho so good luck finding out, I guess! lol
I checked some of the orders from my store that were shipped last Friday and here's what I figured out.
If the phone shipped from Tennessee on Friday night, it got there by Saturday morning. All of last Fridays orders were shipping at night.
If the phone shipped from Texas, it didn't get there until Monday. The times for last Friday were all night time shipments though, so they didn't get there until Monday.
Mine shipped from Texas though. But it shipped in the morning so maybe I'll get it on Saturday instead of Monday?

Update, mine shipped less than 24 hours after I canceled the black and went with the white. The tracking says Monday (shipped from TX), but also says overnight, which means it could be here tomorrow (Saturday)
So..if you are way back in line and want this thing ASAP it appears white is the way to go.

well my wait has been over now for about 3 hrs
i decided to go by the store about 30 minutes til 3 just to check in and see if it actually had came in yet...on my way there i saw a fed ex truck coming from the general direction of the store so my heart skipped a beat so to say lol.
well i got to the store....walked inside....first thing i noticed was about 10 small brown boxes behind the register...some open and some not....so i thought to myself "its GOTTA be here" well a rep walked up to me, asked if i needed any help, told her what i was there for....she went in the back to check for me
needless to say about 2 minutes later she came back emptied handed talking about some "it probably hasnt come in yet but we've been getting loads of them all thru out the day so check back in a few hrs"
so i walked out the store a lil down and out and just as i was leaving the parking lot i got a call from a different rep asking my name and told me those magic words....."i have your phone right here"
i zipped back around and parked so damn fast, went back and he set up my phone for me in no more than 30 minutes....only thing now is since i want to keep my same phone number he has to put in an request for it to be ported over which with my carrier i guess wont go into affect until tomorrow. but other than that i love this damn phone, my first smart phone and i dont have any complaints thus far.....synced it with my iTunes and even found how to get yahoo and msn IM.
i havent fully explored it yet but i certainly will in the days to come, but for the rest of you still waiting, believe me its gonna be WELL worth it, no matter what kinda BS they feed you.

So today I walked in to my local AT&T and they gave me my new iPhone in white. It took 3 days to get there!
They said it was the fastest shipped iPhone in the store!

Horrible iPhone 3G Launch Experience
Unfortunately I was promised this and it hasn't happened. Ordered 16gb Black on 7/14 around closing time and hasn't shipped or anything yet. I'm getting the run-around from my AT&T store. I don't mind waiting a couple more days but the problem is I'm moving on Sunday and they promised me it would be here before then...bastards. Now I have to worry about getting it activated and shipped to my new home after it gets here. I went to 3 AT&T stores the weekend it launched b/c I was out of town so I wanted to see if I could get it there but they didn't have any. Waited in line for 30 mins at one of them just to be told that they can only ship it to that store and not to any other AT&T stores...whatever. So I go home and order it on 7/14 and was told 7-10 days as seen above. I read the forums and decide to check out the Apple store 45 mins up the road. I get there and they tell me that only the primary account holder can order the phones (bulls***), even though I pulled up our account on one of their store computers! So I wasted 2 hrs and about 5 gallons of gas doing that. Now, I'm leaving Sunday and I'm the only 7/14 order from my store that hasn't shipped yet.
I hate being at the mercy of monopolies. I wish this phone was not as good as it is otherwise I would take my business somewhere else. Sorry for the rant, but this forum has been great and to see that I'm not the only one getting screwed. Happy waiting!

I ordered a 16GB black on 7//14 as well. I just noticed that the FRT line item just switched to 0 for back ordered. Maybe this means its shipping? I hope so, I just attempted to grab on at the Apple store today and missed it by 10 minutes... GRR.

I have a 0 for FRT tonight too. I had 0 for the phone for a few hours tonight but when the phone went back to being back ordered the FRT switched to zero. Wonder if it means anything... fingers crossed for it shipping!
For the record I ordered a 16GB black on 7/15 and I am 1st in the DF at my att store.
