i was just reading some of these posts and gosh, that sucks for you guys who ordered the direct fulfillment. Apple stores are like never out of stock for the iphones now, and i just walked in one morning and got mine =)

Well even if many of us did live by an Apple store like myself, a lot of us have FAN discounts through AT&T where Apple can't handle these accounts. If they did I would have went to an Apple store on day 1 and probably gotten one then. Instead I got to wait in line at AT&T and find out there were a few phones short and I would have to wait or do DF.
 
My friend just called me. They have my phone but I can't come down to get it yet because they can't activate it, their systems are down

i think its kinda obvious that if we lived near an apple store we would have gone and got one by now. **** if we did, we could go get one and cancel our direct fullfilment.



By the way, is 50th pretty bad? I ordered a white one and they told me it would probably take 3-5 business days, said i should have it by the end of the week.


I ordered my White 3G on friday and it was at the AT&T store this morning. So they are coming in a lot faster than the Black ones.
 
My tracking # says that my iPhone arrived at the AT&T store today at 2 pm...I haven't gotten an email or call yet. Should I just show up to the store anyway today?
 
Mine just got delivered. I'm going to go pick it up in about an hour or so probably. I'm just waiting for my homie to let me know when he gets in to work so he can set me up.

I wouldn't wait on a call. You paid for this phone and you were charged.

Just print out your fedex tracking that says delivered and go to the store. Why? Because someone else posted that ATT gave him the runaround and told him he would have to come in the next day. Presumably so the salesman that ordered it could get the commission on setting up the account.

The commission resolution between sales staff is ATTs problem. Go get what you paid for, dont let them give you the runaround.

I will be there when mine comes in, with tracking number in hand and proof of payment. If they give me hassle, then I will call the police to make report so I can litigate the issue. I seriously doubt it will come to that, but as the boy scouts say...be prepared!

Ok, any of you interested in where att towers are physically located?

I have a 2.5Mb excel file that I got from ATT, it is current as of February 2008.

To answer that question I could tell you how I handled. it. :)

I called a few minutes ago. I told the woman that I hadn't gotten a call yet and have been waiting since the 16th. She explainded to me that the reason I didnt get a call was because the girl that handled the sale wasn't in today!

So I just kinda played "dumb" and she said "well can you make it here before 6"? I said yes! of course!
"Ok sir I will just set it aside here for ya, and tell them when you get here that you are picking up your iphone." :apple:

:rolleyes: Ladies and gentleman, do NOT do this. This is the kind of customer the service industry hates. We do not like dealing with them and will do what we can to not have to help them. No, I do not work at AT&T, but do work in a service-driven job role.

You can call and ask about your phone, but be polite and they will be more than happy to help you get your phone when it arrives.

This logic is flawed. It is reprehensible that a customer who pays ATT should have to wait any longer than the "10-21" days so the sales person could get commission. ATT should work something out with their staff.

I agree with you that the sales rep should get paid, it is their job. I dont work for free and neither do you. But their pay should not come at the expense of lying to customers, of dissatisfaction of the client.

You are saying that I should just sit and wait around, when my phone is delivered. What if my rep is off for a couple days? Then I am out of town for a couple more.

This is not customer service that benefits the customer. This is a means for a sales professional to make a living. This is backwards. We are the paying customers.

Actually no, learn to read. I said you can call to ask, but be polite. Don't just show up and threaten to call the police when they say sorry. Waiting for a phone is NOTHING like having a flight cancelled. I said that they will be happy to help you as long as they have your phone there and you are polite. If you're an *******, then expect to be treated accordingly.
 
i have a question. my order status says my black 16gb iphone isn't backordered but the freight still is on backorder. what does this mean?

A distribution warehouse has gotten your model in, but they do not know if your order will be fulfilled with that shipment they received. If not, your phone will go back to backorder. If it is fulfilled, the freight will be taken off backorder.
 
Local AT&T told me today that the 8 & black 16 are taking up to 14 days to arrive but the white can be in store within 3 days.

haha damn, i'm just going to hope for the worst. i ordered it on the 24th anyway and i'm number 40 for my store.

The black 16GB is the longest to ship, due to demand. If you ordered the 24th, don't expect it to ship until the week of August 11th to 15th. Possibly even the week after that, since it is supposed to be business days.
Treat any ship time earlier than that as a bonus.
 
Ha ha - I feel the same. I've been 1st in line since last Wednesday. Still showing backordered. 16gb black. In the Pittsburgh area.

This afternoon mine shows 0 for the phone and sim card. First time this has happened so far. Usually been one or the other has a 1. Might be a good sign that it'll ship tonight. Freight is still backordered though. I'll see what happens later tonight. btw - I ordered mine on the 21st (16gb black).

the dude at my store said that the black 16's have been coming in without any problems within 3-5 days. i'm guessing that was a lie...
 
I went in at lunch time (around 1:20pm CST) and their stupid systems are down. How does a company that large not have a backup system? Freakin ridiculous ... it better be back up when I get off work.
