AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

what do you guys think my chances are that my White 16 GB will ship before i leave for vacation on Saturday.
I ordered it on Sunday the 27th. they told me that it should take 3-5 business days.
I would say would be about right from DF to store. Why?
I ordered the White iPhone on Friday (7/25), and went from 28th in line to 36th in line yesterday, to shipped today. So it should be here in the next couple of days (Sacramento).

its dumb that there are ppl on this post that only ordered a 16gb white.... lucky for you guys there sh**ing them out left and right, so you don't have to wait... as for the rest for us that have been waiting for 10+ days.... its a little bit more of a struggle. lol

What is dumb are posts like this complaining about those who bought the white iPhone while those who bought the phones that were BIGGER IN DEMAND and LESS IN SUPPLY, and are now paying the price for that.
Don't blame us for for your lack of judgment. You bought the Black phone. It isn't in stock. So now you wait. Don't like it? Cancel your DF order and go to the Apple store, but don't take it out on those smart enough to buy the White iPhone, or those who wanted the white phone outright.

I don't mind waiting, but its my frustration with att not being able to keep their word which makes waiting to me seem pointless. They should have gave me a more accurate time frame than '3-5 days'

Go back through the 60something pages in this thread and the 70something pages in the other ATT thread and read about those people upset that they haven't received their black phones that they ordered on launch date, and are still complaining. What you're pretty much saying is like a broken record. Everybody knows that the white ones are being shipped faster, because everyone is buying the black phones. Demand is high for the black phone, while supply is low. Opposite that, demand is low for the white phone while supply is high.
Logic should show you the rest. So why blame those who bought the white iPhone for getting theirs faster? is it their fault? All I'm saying is place the blame on the right people: the others who bought the black iPhone and are also waiting (making you wait longer), or Apple for not having enough stock out there for ATT.

Actually, I wanted the white iPhone!
The black one was nice, but I liked how the white iPhone looked and felt in my hand. I just waited long enough toget paid! I heard here first that it was backordered for 5 - 7 days. What they told me at the store was that the black iPhone was backordered for 21 - 28 days. I was going to wait anyway because I'd rather have everyone else go through the pain for me (
) so I waited, picked my spot, went in, and now it's on its way!But yes.. they should tell you more accurately at the store.

ATT told me the same thing but I haven't been waiting as long as other people here. i keep hearing that people who ordered the blk 16GB have to wait 30 days?? Does anyone know about this? I ordered on 7/21 monday so it's only been a week for me. When I heard 30 days I freaked a little.
The phones leave either Texas or Tennessee and ship overnight, so they will be at the store the next day. For example, if it ships 7/29 out of Tennessee (or Texas), it will be at your AT&T store 7/30 by 3pm.

someone who ordered after me and is 55th in line got theirs shipped yesterday and they ordered on the same day as me. Its obvious that they must have also ordered a white seeing how everyone ahead of me has been waiting alot longer.

Cancelled my 7/14 8GB iphone and reordered on the 17th (16GB black). It just shipped. Was on '1' all day long as well. Thanks for helping me wait. I'll have it by 3pm tomorrow!!

86th street between third and second. I've moved from 102nd in line to 3rd currently, and been backordered all day.
What's confusing me is that they hit my card today, but I'm still backordered. I understand (thoroughly) that the 16gig black is in demand, and supply issues abound. However I thought that ATT can't hit your card unless the phone ships (everyone check your order acknowledgement email - this is stated clearly).
Anyone have thoughts on this? On a seperate note, bought a vaja slim bag - anyone have thoughts on it?

The tracking information may not be updated yet. Mine was updated until 8 hours after it shipped, and I didn't get the email until the next morning.
