AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

I ordered mine at about 1:00pm EST on Friday at the AT&T store. I got the White one. Been checking my order status all weekend and it just flipped to "shipped." It's shipping FedEX Standard Overnight and should be here by 3pm tomorrow. Very excited. By the way, mine had been flipping back and forth from backordered to not backordered. Last time I checked it said 1 under backordered and then I checked again and it was shipped. It looks like they all shipped mid-day today and they are just updating the order status now. Can't wait! i have tried to call both numbers listed in this thread and the agents tell me that they cannot check order status and that I can only get that info from the store i ordered from. Has anyone else gotten this response? I ordered Friday at 11:45am EST and online still says back ordered.

I got the same BS. I also got the guy on the phone from AT&T to say they don't no how the stores are guaranteeing 5 to 7 or 7 to 10 days since the phones are completely sold out.

My friend works at the Apple warehouse in Carlisle, PA and no I don't think that they work all night. They've got two fulfillment shifts, 7-3 and 3-11....I've asked her to "please send my order to me" ...but of course she has no real say in the matter.

If it makes you guys feel any better, she said that the warehouse is absolutely jam packed with them...they just have to get them all out.

2nd: why are you so sensative about it (do you have issues???)?

My 8GB iPhone was just shipped today around 3:00 and will arrive here tomarrow at 3:00 apparently. Needless to say, I'm hoping there isn't a line of people getting their phones activated tomarrow around 5:30 because that's when I'm going in to get it setup and I know everyone there doing DF must have gotten priority shipping.

Hope everyone else is getting theirs soon!

Btw, I ordered mine around 11:00 central time I think it was.

I have to say all of you are better off then me, from what I read. I got debted out of my account for phone and credit out of my account for the phone the credit is the only one pending. I called my bank they reserving one of them , looks like the one pending , hopefully that doesnt **** me over.

It DOES work...thanks for the tip! The results are interesting though. Found out that I am 10th in line (not 8th as they told me) for DF, and the numbers stop being valid for that zip code after that...The only one ahead of me that was fulfilled was ordered on 6/24 and delivered on 6/26, but the order just says "phone", so it might not have even been a 3G for that order. I'm gonna keep checking these numbers though, thanks!

PS--not that it means much if the order that I saw that was fulfilled WASN'T for an iPhone, but it appeared to be shipped from the warehouse at 818pm on 6/24 and arrive at 114pm on 6/26 via DHL.

I'm a little bummed. My status also says backordered. I ordered a black 8GB at 11AM EST on Friday. Is it strange that some phones have already shipped for people who ordered later in the day? I suppose some warehouses receive phones faster than others?

I am in SC and looks similar here too...about 120 ordered, but only one has shipped and it wasnt even the 1st one, it was about the tenth...I am number 18...hope I see some start moving tomorrow. I am wondering if the one that has shipped was a white one...has anyone heard of a 16gig black that has shipped? Most of the people saying theirs has shipped have been white 16gig

Those that are seeing their backorder flip from 1-0-1. What phone are you getting.

I'd originally ordered 8gig and was seeing it flip. But changed to 16gig black today.

Assuming the backorder counter just shows what is in stock and not yet allocated. Is anyone seeing any of the 16gigs flip?
If so when was the last flip.

May be a way to gauge what's really available. -Warehouse is getting stock of 8s but not 16s.

My story: went to the ATT store local at 10am Fri, stood in line for 2 hrs. About 30 people from the front, they ran out of 16GB black. Put it on backorder, since people coming from the local Apple store were leaving there because the line was 400+. Was told 5-7 days worst case, but it would probably be much sooner.

Went to the local Apple store yesterday, line was 20mins and they still had phones in stock but wouldn't give me one for my receipt. Texted the ATT rep who sold me the phone but he said I couldn't cancel the order.

Now I'm stuck with everyone else.

Yeah I know...I ordered mine on Friday and still no status change on my order from "backordered"...I'm 10th in line on the DF, so I'll be sure to post when I am getting mine.

I talked to my friend that works at the apple warehouse tonight...she has no way of knowing if the orders that they pack are going to apple stores or to ATT stores, that part isn't handled by her department. There are number codes for stores and locations, but she can't randomly look that up without getting in trouble. They are being really tight about the amount of information the employees know about what is going where.

For whatever reason, the orders that I was able to see that were fulfilled to Carlisle were all shipped from Fort Worth, TX. Go figure...there is a warehouse down the street, but they are shipping from TX.

I ordered the 8G on Friday around 4 and I just got a tracking number on the status page. It's supposed to be at the store by 3PM tomorrow.
