I ordered an 8 gig yesterday. My town isn't that big the lady said that it usual takes about 10 business days but they have been coming in faster, but i checked my info today and it said it was back ordered.

I ordered my 8 gig on 7/30 from an AT&T store in NYC. I was told it will be between 10-21 days. I could have gone up the street to the apple store on 59th and 5th, but I don't have the time to wait in line. To me it's just easier to wait and be sure to get it than stand in line for several hours and hope to get one
My family ordered 3 iPhones (all 8gb). They made us swipe the credit card three times for some reason (so I guess they were seperate orders). Anyway, just one of them shipped today. WTF? And the weird thing is order #6194 shipped, while orders 6193 and 6195 didn't.
The warehouse must be shipping randomly i had checked on thursday and just about everyone who ordered their iphones on 7/21/08 were shipped thursday and 2 orders were not shipped one of which was mine and finally they shipped out my 16GB iphone in black last night, also it could be the AT&T website isn't updated correctly i had checked around midnight and i was still sitting on backorder and this morning i noticed it shipped at 7pm last night.
I just recieved the tracking number for my 16GB black ordered 07/21 coming from fort worth to NYC.
what store did you order your phone from? just curious since I ordered mine from the store on 53rd and 6th ave in Manhattan
They shipped my iphone 3g 16Gb black that I ordered on the 24th of July!!!

I ordered a 16GB black iPhone 3G from the AT&T store at Tuttle Crossing Mall in Dublin, Ohio (near Columbus, Ohio) this past Saturday (August 2nd). My contract with Verizon ends this coming Saturday August 9th (I figure I would order the phone early since it was backordered). The AT&T store I was at saying there was about a 7 to 21 day wait. We shall see.
weird, mine says shipped today, but everytime i click the tracking # nothing comes up.
same exactr thing for me, it says that the fed ex system didn't recieve my info yet? is this normal? i didn't get an email either...
I was being OC and checked about 10 people before me and seems like all the 7/24 orders in my store have shipped. I'm the 2nd person to order on 7/25 so it's looking like they will possibly ship it tomorrow! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My iphone is almost here! Woooooo!

They can and they do. The shipper pays extra for Saturday delivery. From what I understand, AT&T did pay for Saturday delivery with orders for the iPhone placed on the 11th, but not after that.
You don't have to get it right when your contract ends. You can stay on as a month to month customer with Verizon. When you port your phone number from Verizon, that will end your dealings with Verizon and they will charge you according to how far into the month you were.
That being said, I had gotten a new two-year contract with Verizon in January and canceled to come to AT&T because VZW service at my house and in my general area sucked. I called them up and got them to reduce my ETF from $145 to $72.50. I could have gotten it waived if I had called them to document the weak signal and whenever I had a dropped call or couldn't connect to the internet. If I had done that, I would have spent half my home time on the phone with Verizon. Oh, and in the last month, they could only see that I had 8 dropped calls out of 193. Yeah, right
Too soon. They stuck the label to the box, which has the tracking number on it that you received, but it has not been physically scanned/picked up by the FedEx driver yet.
it says it shipped last night on the ATT order status but when i clicked the tracking number it says it wont get here until tomorrow
I've heard of this happening to other people the warehouse must randomly fill orders and not notice 3 iphones are going to the same person?

Im Loosing My Cool I Cant Take It Any More Im Close To Calling And Raising Hell On The Att Rep That Answers The Phone
