What's not clear is whether or not these are new prices for iPhones only, new prices for new customers in general, new prices for old customers who are getting their first iPhone, and whether or not these prices super-cede existing plans if you put an iPhone on them. For example, I have the primary line on an existing Family Plan. We pay approx. $100 before my mother's work discount on the voice plans. We pay $9.99 for each additional line. We pay $29.99 for unlimited texting. Does this chart mean my line now costs more? Does this chart mean my whole Family Plan will cost more if I bring an iPhone into it, since mine is the primary line? Does our existing text message bundle apply to the iPhone?

So no, it's not clear.

You would pay $39.99 ($30 more) for each additional iphone. Your 29.99 family text plan would apply to the iphone. You would *not* need to change your current voice plan.

Just to be clear, because even this isn't, to me at least:

If I upgrade my existing line from a Blackberry to an iPhone, that line costs $30 more all of a sudden? Or is it that if I were to ADD a FOURTH line to our plan and it were an iPhone, THEN I would incur the $39.99 additional line?

So not to sound like a complete fool but...

I'm on a family plan so I pay $10 for my current iPhone and $30 for the data + 1500 text messages

So if I upgraded I would have to pay $39.99 for the phone and $15 for 1500 text messages? Or since I'm a current AT&T customer I can keep my $30 data plan but bump it up $10 since it has to be the 3G plan?

I know its all messed up Im on a family plan right now with 2 iPhone and one regular phone and my family plan is 69.99 plus 9.99 for each line according to this i will have to pay 129.99 plus 39.99 per add line i hope this isnt true att will be getting called this morning!

Yeah your current Family doesn't include data. The Family iPhone Plan is just your 69.99 + two iPhone data (@29.99 a piece) = 129.97. For additional line no iPhone it is 9.99. But for additional iPhone to Family = 9.99 + data (@29.99 a piece).

Hope your not going to call ATT for those pennies that is rounded up...

I think this is a deal breaker for me and my six accounts. $15 more x 6 x 12= too much!

Thanks Apple and ATT, this really is more affordable. lol

You have to pay for the data to get the iphone. So if you had a blackberry sans data plan (Were only paying 9.99) then you would be paying 39.99 (9.99 add a line + $30 data plan) if you wanted to replace that line (pending upgrade eligibility). Other non-iphone lines would continue to be 9.99 (plus whatever data you were paying per line before).

You can't get a 3G iphone without a data plan.

Well Iguess that makes more since lol Thanks!

The way I read it is that two lines are INCLUDED in the price. The $40 is for for any additional phones. Or am I reading that incorrectly?

If you have a family plan then you could pay 29.99 for unlimited text messages on ALL lines.

This offer has been around on AT&T before the iphone was introduced.

will i be eligible for the sub price of the phone? i assume equipment mean phone and not um equipment for the phone... thanks for your reply.

"This line is eligible for reduced equipment pricing when you sign up for a new 2-year service agreement. All iPhone purchases require a 2-year service commitment."

Clearer text message plans are in the PDF:

If you get a family plan you can not combine the 1500 texts. You have to do either $30 for both (unlimited) or get 2 seperate plans.

Thanks, Diode, I understand I need the Data plan, I was just unclear as to whether the "$39.99" for an additional iPhone was rolling the Data plan into that amount. So essentially, additional lines are still only $9.99. So I can expect to pay the $18.00 to upgrade (talk about a ton of pure profit) plus the additional $30 a month to account for the data plan.

I own a company and all six lines are on different accounts. (sales reps)

The starting price point is now $69.99 + 5 (data) + tax = $90/month.

If your a current customer you need to check upgrade eligibility.

I have no idea then ... I would call AT&T and ask then. They might let you combine accounts to save money.

Yep they are treating this phone just like every other phone now. I guess $18 is better then the $36 activation fee new customers get charged .

I am assuming that with the new rates, no one looked at the last page of the website where it says:

"You have the option to purchase an early upgrade priced at $399 for 8GB (black) or $499 for 16GB (black or white). Two-year contract required. Coming soon, AT&T will offer a no-commitment option of $599 for 8GB and $699 for 16GB."

I just think there are other options out there for less. The iphone is a cool device, but not at $600/month for me it isn't.

Starting to agree. Might stay with Verizon and get the HTC Diamond when it comes out. This was supposed to be a "cheaper" iphone and its turning out to be more expensive. I LOVE apple products and was pretty excited about the prospect of getting one of these beauties, but its just as much money as the first with few new features.

What is the "no commitment" option? Is it unlocked? $699.00 kinda steep.

AFAIK, no commitment doesn't mean unlocked. It just means you don't need a 2 year agreement. Of course I think you would have to have a two year agreement to add the "new" data plan so it could be a moot point.
