Orders are granted geographically. Or better yet, by population. So, I live in a rural town in Kentucky (we have 3G so not all hope is lost) I placed my order at 7:30PM on the 15th. I have my shipping info in hand already. I had it yesterday.

I'm with you, Whiplash - I've yet to complain, but it is exciting. My current 3G works fine (although it would be groovy to have in time for a trip out of the country I have starting on July 1), but it's still kind of cool to see how multi-billion dollar firms coordinate something as massive as a super hot tech product like this with multiple manufacture points, distribution points and hundreds of thousands of recips around the world (but from what I can tell, majority in the US so far).
I'd like to see anyone on this post processing 600k orders of anything this advanced, much less in the course of a week 🙂 I'm just sayin'! AT&T and Apple will pull it off, and everyone will get their phones. If not, I swear, no one is going to die if they don't get a 4 on the 24th. PROMISE!

Both my order and my wife's order were placed at an AT&T retail store for shipment to the store for pick up. Orders were placed around 4:30PM 6/15. Systems appeared to be up - I have actual receipts, not scribbled post-its.
Order numbers both begin with X2RPA.
Credit card hold was placed on 6/15, fell off 6/18, and came back 6/20, although they were dated 6/21.
Orders in online status have always been "In Progress", never backordered.
Currently no tracking number, no carrier, and no ship date.
However, I suspect they have been shipped. If they hadn't been shipped, there wouldn't be charges back on my card. The only question is, since I am having these shipped to the store, I wonder if I'll be able to pick them up on 6/24 or if I'll have to wait until 6/25.
And for those complaining about all these people bitching about their iPhone tracking numbers and order statuses, tough. Most of the people in this thread are not bitching just to bitch - they're enjoying anticipating the arrival of a very cool device with other people who feel the same way. Nothing wrong with that. Does it key some people up that they don't have a tracking number yet? Sure. Is it all going to work out in the end? Sure. It's a momentary joy to be able to share this kind of shared experience with like minded people. 😉

32 gb ordered from ATT store 6/15 at 1 EST. Just checked the status and now says shipped with tracking number (inactive). Ship Date 6/19.

I took the day off from work on Thursday just in case. Is that too EXTREME?!?
It is 4:30 CT where i am. Ordered online the 15th at like 5:00 PM. Also i read that if you ordered your phone past 4PM it will be processed the next day. So it says i ordered it on the 16th

Haha. Yes. I'm going into work late... so hopefully Fedex comes in before lunch is over... Not that big of a deal since my work is flexible and I work 5 mins from my workplace. I'll just leave if anyone at home gets it.

I literally took my vacation days from Thursday through Monday. I'll be really mad if it doesn't arrive by the 25th.
Anyone from DFW area Texas, or with M or higher last name had their 16GB ship yet?
I heard that the main FedEx warehouse is in DFW, so maybe Texans will have theirs ship last???

I ordered in the morning on the 15th and my order date still says the 16th. 11am PST is 2pm EST. So I have no idea how they threw it to the 16th as the order date.
Mine has never been on backorder, either, but if you read through the last few pages some people who ordered past 1pm EST or so have tracking numbers.
