I'm in Dallas and all 3 of my orders have been shipped 2 by apple 1 by AT&T last name starts with V.
 
this is the email i got from ATT:

We shipped your recently placed AT&T Premier order.

If you pre-ordered the iPhone 4, it is staged for pickup by our shipping carrier. Because of unprecedented volume, it may be as much as 72 hours before the carrier can provide any detailed information to you. Please don't be concerned if you visit the carrier's site and specific information about your order is not provided. The information will be updated when the carrier picks up the order at our warehouse.

I ordered two 32s and one 16 from walking into the Apple store here in Houston about 7:30PM. The 16 has shipped and has tracking info. The two 32s are still shown as being "in progress" but they have no backorder. My last name starts with an E.

I tried to pull that order number in Fed Ex and nothing comes up.

Also checked my premier site and still says processing and not shipped yet.

Im asking the pros what the verdict is and if anyone else has had this as of yet?

I got my order into Premier at 11am CST on the 15th. My order date on the Premier site says 6/15 processing updated on 6/17

Just now figured out how to log into the regular ATT site - it says my order date is the 16th and it's backordered! I was HOURS before the cutoff and got my confirmation almost immediately after my order went through.

My phone actually broke last night so I am totally without a phone until this damn iPhone 4 comes in so I want it Thursday, badly!

I can't figure any rhyme or reason to the order that people are getting their phones shipped. Many many people who ordered after me have phones getting shipped. I ordered one 16 gig, and I was already an ATT customer with a phone no longer in a 2-year contract.

This is driving me crazy because I REALLY want this phone regardless but now my phone is broken too! This is a huge bummer - I won't feel optimistic until the phone is in my hands, whenever that may be....

I would imagine it does - they are processing an awfully large number of preorders so just hang tight, if you're showing shipped on the order status page your premier page should update at some point - it took over 8 hours from the time my order showed as shipped for the premier page to sync up.
 
Is it bad that I don't want to leave work so that I can keep pluggin' in the stupid CAPTCHA phrase to see if I'm a lucky shipping label wiener???

you should be fine, first thier websites arent real time.
the fact you saw a number there means one was issued for your order.

I seriously doubt you will see any tracking information today or even tomorrow if they are shipping from inside the USA.
You might also see it make it to Memphis, fedx main hub. And sit there until wednesday.
Apple does not want any delivered until thursday.

this is the way apple handles their releases. People get fired for breaking apples rules

This is starting to get ridiculous, you would think by now AT&T would be able to us when we would be getting our phones!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I would love to get it on Thursday, but if not just let know. So far I got nothing, and it's pissing me off. Still got two pending charges on my account that haven't gone away and have been "In Progress" the whole time. If it's going to be 14 Jul then just friggin let me know...geeze!😡😡😡😡😡😡

I'm in the DFW area and mine still hasn't been shipped. I ordered mine @ 11am, still showing backordered. I called Premier and she didn't know a damn thing.. Kind of frustrated!!
 
My order, that I placed last Tuesday (the 15th), has finally showed up in AT&T's system. Showing that it was placed today (the 21st) and currently backordered.

Yeah, these guys are going out of their way to make this work.
