Who actually notifies you and ships the iPhone if you ordered through ATT? Does Apple ship them or what?
Soo, on the AT&T regular site for checking order statuses, most people's status as of right now is still "In Progress", correct?
Mine has been like that since I pre-ordered it at an AT&T store on the 15th. It changed from having 1's in the backorder to 1's in the qty order that night. My card still hasn't been charged, though.

Yep, that's the same for me. You are not alone.
AT&T is the one who lets you know. People who ordered from Apple are getting there shipment info already because its coming directly from China. A&T have to get there phones first to the warehouse then they process the information. So if you ordered on the 15th and ordered it before the cut off then your fine.
Where are you guys actually seeing a QTY or backordered?

AT&T order status page is down now. I'm getting a maintenance in progress screen. Guess wevall crashed it.

Don't use your premier order number (if you have one). It's different

Those that are getting their orders cancelled are probably those who, like me, didn't have their credit card charged when they ordered it. I actually called the next day and they were able to run it then. They probably didn't call.
Those of you who were backordered and now showing not backordered are probably benefiting from those cancellations.

So why is it that I pre-ordered my iPhone at the AT&T around 10AM and my order status still says, "In Progess", but Apple already started Shipping others their phones.
Why doesn't the AT&T site say they started shipping as well? This is making me mad because it's already going to be Monday tomorrow and they are still In progress? I better get my phone on the 24th, thats the reason why I waited for hours in line at my local store.

Apple says shipping because they are being shipped from China. AT&T doesn't ship from china they have to get them to your local warehouse and then ship them out. It will probably be tomorrow since Fedex dont work on sundays.
Because Apple is shipping from China whereas AT&T is shipping from Texas. You won't see anything from AT&T until AT LEAST Tuesday probably Wednesday.
AT&T does not update interim status like Apple. They should because it will eliminate calls to the customer service centers. Pre-ordered will flip to shipped and you will get a confirmation number on Monday or Tuesday. I venture to say that it is for the backorders as well. That is if they made it in onetime.
No. I called the premier order number to check my status and that was the message I got when entering my order.
My tracking info now say in transit from Lantau Island HK! What a sense of relief. I was worried about mine getting canceled with all the craziness going on.

I thought I was fine with my "processing" status on the premiere page... then I checked the non-premiere page linked to here, and sure enough... backordered.
If I don't get one on launch day after surviving the great AT&T server meltdown of 2010, I'm going to be peeved. I got in at about 11:30 A.M on the 15th, if that helps anyone (my first try was at 7 A.M pacific )
