So my wife and I are getting iPhones and we've been holding back so she can have white. It never occurred to me that I could transfer over and when the whites come out, transfer her number. Grr.

Anyhow, I ordered earlier tonight. A 32gb from AT&T. Obviously, its on back order.

I'm not seeing any rhyme or reason to how they are being processed, are you guys?

Ah nevermind, I didn't realize how long the thread was. I'm sure you guys have speculated plenty.

I added myself to the Google spreadsheet.

finally came off backorder lastnight. 16gb black ordered 7/1, didnt show up on their status page until 7/6. hope to get it by friday.

Ordered/paid for 32GB in ATT store 7.4
"Backorder" status until it was shipped on 7.9 (Fri)
Received via FedEx 7.12 (Mon)

Noting that 7.5 was an observed holiday for Independence day, it was processed and shipped in 4 (biz) days. Not too shabby.

This may seem obvious to other people, but I feel that it should be said in hopes of curbing some of the frustration that others are beginning to feel when they see others ordering and receiving their phones quicker.

Though the iPhones seem to be shipping from the same area (Texas, I believe?), your location may play a larger role than others have led you to believe. I live outside of Chicago, which is a larger market with most likely a large amount of pre-orders.

So when I order on 7/6 and I am still on back-order (insert emoticon shooting himself here) and I see a user a few pages back from Alaska getting a turn around in 4-5 days, it makes sense to me that Alaska just has a smaller market with fewer amounts of pre-orders.

Does this make complete sense that those who are ordering after me are getting their phones faster?

No. But I'm assuming their a evenly distributing a ratio of phones per city, per day.

Ordered in store on 7/5. Came off back order yesterday and is sitting in a shipping facility in TX. Scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

I assume the people who ordered on 7/6 are one day behind me, so you all should be seeing it come off back order today.

For you guys waiting longer than others...maybe its based on location? Only so many phones per certain areas?

8 days sucks, but when I made my order yesterday it said 7-14 days to ship, so that doesn't seem off yet...

EDIT: Sustainability just said what I was thinking...

While what you said makes complete sense, my inner gadget whore rebels against this thought process and demands it's new toy ;)

I was hoping someone could answer a question for me. I ordered my 16GB Black iP4 on 7/10 through AT&T's premier website. Do they update the status of the order every day or every couple of days? I'm asking because my order was still processing last time I checked (about 8 hours ago, and the website is down right now.) and it said "Last updated: 7/11" but here we are at 7/14.

From reading this thread it seems they are already starting to ship some 7/9 and 7/10 orders and I was just wondering if anyone was experiencing the same thing as I. Thank you.

They may use a complicated algorithim that includes location, type of phone, premier/regular order, and time of order to determine when our phones ship OR Jimbo and his team in the warehouse just have a stack of invoices that they fill as they get them. For the most part, its starting to seem quite random.

Are you using this site to check your status?

Has anyone exceeded the 14 day time frame they have giving by AT&T? Or is anyone close to it?

Order July 2nd through Premier here. So thats what? 11 or 12 days?

Ordered July 2nd. Wasn't able to check on the status through the regular at&t order status page. Called them numerous times, I'd first be told the order is processing but there is an issue, they'd pass me to someone to look at the issue, and they'd tell me there is no issue.

On the 9th, I was passed on to the web order department, and my order was magically received. So now according to the Premier order status page, I ordered on the 2nd, and according to the regular at&t status page, the order was placed on the 9th. The order (32GB black iphone 4) has been on backorder since as well.

I called AT&T Premier again today, was told the order was delayed in processing because there had been an issue with a feature. I was on the phone with them for 90+ minutes today trying to get someone to tell me why they're so inconsistant, and why I was not contacted about the issue with my order. I imagine that if I had actually been contacted or I wasn't getting the run around until the 9th, my order would've processed sooner, and my order wouldn't still be backordered.

I had the exact same issue. Premier Order Date - 6/29. ATT Order Date - 7/11. Were you able to get them to expedite your order somehow?
