Nothing was ever mentioned to me in store about NOT using a Debit card. Perhaps it's in the fine print if you order online. If this is the case I will be upset. Not because I don't recieve my phone on the 24th but because this should be known one way or another company wide.

All I know is that at mine, I saw a lady wait three hours to finally order one, and she had to leave and couldn't order one because she only had a debit card... But maybe it was just my store?

I keep hearing lots of stuff about debit cards... When I went into my local AT&T store to order mine they said nobody was allowed to use debit cards because of the whole pending process thing... I guess it was just the manage of my store trying to avoid any problems!

I was told the same thing at my local AT&T store; however, when I complained the clerk said she just won't look at my card. I haven't been charged yet but my order status shows, "in progress" and I received a confirmation phone call from my local store on Saturday.

Edited to add...it does state no debit cards on the receipt, too.

Its strange that AT&T has charged some people's cards and not others. Maybe its a premier vs. Personal thing?

Everyone I spoke to at AT&T said the charge occurs when it is shipped. So why are some getting charged sooner? Spotty credit?

I have my ATT monthly bill autodrafted out of my debit card and no issues there... but I still used my credit card for my iP4 to avoid in troubles with pending amounts... I would hate to lose my spot "in line" because of my poor spending :D

If it says Visa or Mastercard, even though it's a debit card, they have to take it. If they don't, I'd complain to Visa or Mastercard. If enough people do it, the ATT store would lose their ability to take Visa and Mastercard.

Same as it ever was

this is the same situation everyone went through last year. Apple orders all got updated with tracking numbers, and att orders did't get updated till the last day or so. Sit back, and enjoy the ride, because att order status's are not going to update till probably the 23rd. Here is a link to last years exact same thread. Read from the 18th forward, and you will read the same panic in everyones keystrokes.

LOL, ok! I'll be calling them then to make sure all is well. My status looks spot on, contract date changed, etc., and I did get a hold a few days ago. Seriously though, I wish they would just tell us this stuff instead of charging us so we can wait and read the fine print on the RECIEPT!

Same boat as you, it's never had backordered, it's looked the same since the 15th when I ordered it in the store, and I DON'T have various SIM...

Ok, I guess we can lay the SIM thing to rest...If you have the device shipped to the house you WILL have "Various SIM" if you're having it shipped to the store, you WON'T have "Various SIM"

I was told that if you have two pending charges on your card then it's because you purchased online.

I have 2 pending charges, one for $1 and one for $361.91 for the iP4 32GB plus tax and $18 early activation fee

I'm assuming if you purchased in store there would be no initial $1 charge.

The reply to end all replies

Various sim is just the sim card, it'll be with your phone I doubt apple just accidentally missed some phones to put sims with (if it doesnt show on ur status). If you've gone through ATT before you know backorder means jack Sh*t.. honestly if you got in and pre-ordered on the 15th before the later evening, you're probably fine. ATT sucks at keeping you up-to-date unlike apple and those bastards toting their updates as "ready to ship" or being shipped yadda yadda.

It's fun I know =/ haha but I stressed too much last time and then everything got updated at the last minute on ATT's end and I had my phone by 1pm via fedex through att. They're not computer efficient I suppose..

Thanks

Hey everyone. I am so confused! I ordered at 10am CDT on the 15th and got a confirmation email and everything on premiere. I check on the 17th on ATT's order site and my order is there, saying it was placed on the 16th and back ordered. WHAT?? So I call ATT on Friday and they tell me my order is in and should ship out on the 22 or 23rd and my card will be charged when shipped. The premiere line says my order is processed and shipping shortly, but ATT order status says I'm backordered! I just need to relax I guess, but this whole thing is so confusing!

I purchased online and only had one charge for 599.08. I didn't show any dollar charge or anything else. The charge also dropped of about 2 days ago.

Yeah, good luck with that. Ever been to a car dealership that takes credit cards, but only allows you to charge $3,000 or so? That's also against the card agreement rules, but they've been doing it for decades.

Don't worry -- many of us are in the same exact boat. Like someone said before. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride

Dropped as in the preauth hold is gone completely from my account.

the same this has happened to me. i made my pre-order around 5:15am on the 15th on the premier site. my card immediately had a hold on it for 334$. my order shows as processing on the premier site still but up until today on the regular att site it showed all my items as back ordered but today it is now showing there is all zeros in back ordered and still in progress an the hold on my credit card has disappeared showing that i have all my available credit

I'm not worried - I figure it'll get charged when they ship it and so far my order number works, when I check it. They sent me 2 emails with my 2 new numbers and also called me to let me know my order was fine and being processed.

I used my dad's line to get the iPhone 4.
I plan to swap sim cards after I activate it.
Do u guys think AT&T will let me remove the stupid iPhone data plan on my dad's line?

You cannot swap SIM cards just like that anymore...

The iPhone 4 has a micro SIM. Regular SIM cards will not work in the new phone.

Apparently your order gets a new order number when it goes from Premiere's systems into AT&T's regular systems (giving it a new date as well). It's still listed in Premiere's systems as having gone through on the 15th, which is what is important since Premiere is the one that will be handling fulfillment (according to what I've read, if I'm wrong I apologize in advance).

Personally, I like the past tense use of the word "processed" that is given on the automated premiere line. That makes it sound like it's already gone through, that they have your phone ready, and that they just haven't shipped it yet.

Hearing that these SAME ISSUES occurred last year just makes me angry. An entire year to fix it, and they don't? I'm relieved to hear that they happened last year as well but...ehh. I'm not going to worry about this anymore until I start hearing that phones are being shipped.
