I ordered my 32gb iP4 today. I hope I get it by friday! I called over 45 stores this morning asking for the iPhone 4 and only 2 had them and they were all 16gb when I wanted the 32gb so I ordered online.
what kind of stores did you call? apple or att or both? which ones had them?
I called:
-Bestbuy: All sold out in all of IL and WI
-Apple: All sold out
-RadioShack: All sold out
-AT&T: All sold out
-Walmart: Two different places in Illinois had them but only the 16gb models.
Stupid Sundays making my two 32GB iPhone 4 take an extra day to arrive.

Just received FDX tracking number. iPhone has been picked up in TX with expected delivery tomorrow. JOY!

I've never known FEDEX to require the signature of the person whose name is on the package. Just someone at the actual address/unit on it.

Best buy 2-3 weeks with name on list.

Pre-orders? I would hope that all pre-orders (barring the white version) have already shipped.
You can see from this thread that people are getting orders from AT&T well within 2-3 weeks.
Pre Orders are still for the regular Black phones... perhaps due to the bigger market in the northeast.. I have friends still awaiting for theirs, already 2 weeks since they ordered and nothing as of yet.
At&T said the earliest is 2-3weeks and that sooner is not possible, the only thing they can do is overnight the phone when it actually becomes avail to ship.

My wife and I ordered two 32GB iPhone 4s last Friday (8/6) and both were shipped out this morning. We live in the Kansas City metro area.
Preorders ended in June. So if your friends ordered two weeks ago... they are not preorders.
I ordered a 32GB black iPhone 4 last Saturday afternoon from the AT&T website and it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I live just outside of Washington, DC. The device shipped from Texas

I called all the area (western PA/eastern Ohio, including Pittsburgh and Cranberry twp) Best Buy, Apple, and WalMart stores and no one had any in stock, so I went ahead and ordered through Apple online. Said it was a three week waiting period.
Went out on a limb and decided I'd check with AT&T. I had it in my mind that surely AT&T would be dead last in getting them. I don't know why. Guy at AT&T told me that they didn't have in stock but ordering through them would surely be faster than my order with Apple. When I called Apple to cancel, they said he was right, AT&T was a lot faster w/ orders than them. So cancelled, walked into an AT&T store last Thursday (Aug 5) and it's shipping today. 32GB, shipped to my house overnight for free.

Mine has been sitting in Honolulu since saturday morning with an expected delivery to Kauai on tuesday. I am still crossing my fingers that it will get here today. Sometimes it quickly jumps a day for me and will suddenly be listed as out for delivery in Lihue.

My 7/30 came off backorder last week friday. Getting here tommorow
Six of one, half dozen of another really. I almost ordered in-store after having them porting my number back from a Sprint mistake. The corp store rep said 10-15 business days on the 16gb, maybe a few less on the 32 (selling more 16 than 32). I saw here- as well as on AT&T's forum- that orders on-line were shipping quicker. My family members that have ordered 16gb versions on-line have been getting them in 7-9 business days when they selected Overnight shipping. Theirs have been coming off of B/O right around the 5th day and shipping on the 6th, on the doorstep the 7th. My mother got hers in 10 business days because she couldn't find where to select Overnight.
I'd say it seems to be coming down to shipping (Free or Overnight).
