people who ordered with ATT over the phone have had no updates at all.. so people with tracking numbers and pending shipment, please relax. by all means i think you'll get your phone in two days. were the ones who need to worry :p
 
here is what another rep told me

Maurice Ward: Some customer will receive their tracking information earlier than others, but all tracking information will be updated and ready on 10/13.

and

Maurice Ward: Of course. Once you have made your order before 5:30 PM on 10/17, you are guaranteed to receive your device on 10/14. Once the device order is sent, you will receive an email to confirm your shipped order as well as order tracking information to track your order at anytime.

Maurice Ward: I understand your concern, Mr. Islam. I have confirmed this information with the sales and order representatives. You should have no worries about your order status.


I hope so! I don't care if I see no movement, or don't get a tracking number until a few hours before I get the phone, so long as I actually get the phone!
 
Count me among those of you who now have a tracking number on my black 32 GB. Looks like it's shipping UPS. Big load off my mind as it seems pretty certain now that the shipment will get to me on time, barring any freak complications.

FWIW, service level in tracking number "01" indicates Next Day Air.
 
Don't know if this helps anyone but here's my story:

Ordered the 4s on 7 Oct (around 1800 CST) via AT&Ts site. The Premiere site status never changed (still states "pre-order) but the order status was changing on AT&Ts main wireless site.

My order went from processing to backorder and stayed that way from 8 Oct until today. Now my order has shipped (4s 16GB White) with a shipping date of 11 Oct; shipping via UPS with tracking number (the tracking number is not active yet).

I thought I ordered too late (tried to order unsuccessfully around midnight) and figured that my order was backordered (as stated) and would ship in 14-21 days.
 
In the same boat live chat agent claimed that my order is indeed backordered and it will be 21-28 days wtf! Ordered 7 am PST so maybe you guys with white 16 and still showing backorder can list down your times and compare.

I ordered in store @ 0900 alaskan time.

Just going to go with the flow... iOS 5 should hold my attention for a few more days.

I ordered over the phone at 12:23am PST on the 7th, and I got my TC email at 12:24 and my confirmation at 3am. Got my shipping notice at 3 this morning. 16gb white 4S
 
Just had most insane discussion with AT&T

So I pre-ordered Friday AM from the store and the order is sitting in back-ordered status. I spend an hour on with Premier & the store... 3 managers told me the same thing... and it's not good news.

1.) Pre-Orders are "low priority" - orders will be fulfilled for first 200K customers that made the cutoff friday 10/7, after that you are considered in the 3rd wave anywhere from 14-32 days.
2.) Based on iPhone4 last year, the priority is for in-store stock so the majority of iPhones are being made available in-store rather than pre-order, that's why so little stock is allocated to pre-orders.

The in-store rep then said that if you show up at the store to get a phone and you pre-order they won't let you have it, We would have to have canceled the pre-order first and had the upgrade flag removed from the account prior to 10/14 or they will turn you away.

So a big F-U from AT&T on this... pre-orders are given low priority? that's strait from 3 managers. :mad:

if you meant noon, then you are one of the very few lucky ones. most of us are stuck in the dark.

Thats not what the chat rep told me. He said it is backordered per the web page says. I have another black 16 that already shipped. What time did you order?

Also we moved 3 lines from tmobile to ATT

2 of the lines received phones and are working with ATT right now. My line is still with my tmobile phone and tmobile until my iphone comes in. Then it automatically switches to ATT and activates the iphone. Just some background info from me.

lets just wait it out. you never know what might happen.
 
My White 32gb was shipped via UPS this morning! Got the shipment confirmation from AT&T at 10:39am MST this morning. Still hasn't showen up on the UPS site. Ordered from AT&T about 45 minutes after they went on sale Friday morning.
 
Finally got my tracking number and status changed to shipped!

About hour later hear the doorbell ring.....look out the window and see a UPS truck in the driveway! Could it be here already!? :eek: The excitement builds as i almost perish rushing down the stairs.....only to sign for a unrelated box for the gf :(

From day 1 i never trust a word from these at&t reps because they've been told different stories and at&t is not a company that will update their staff every single second.

As much as I believe this you also have to balance it out due to the fact in store people will want you to go to them since they get a commission.

32Gb white 4S pre ordered on 10/7 in the afternoon sadly, but my status has said "In Progress & Pending Shipment" since the day that I first checked on my order which was around Sunday I think. My order number is pretty low, which I think means that there aren't many people in front of me in line for that particular AT&T store that I went in and pre ordered from.. hoping for the best, which is ship out today or tomorrow and receive on Friday.

BTW, NOBODY ELSE's pre order e mail said "Your iPhone will ship in approximately 14-21 days"? Everyone seems to have been told that they'll get it by the 14th.. I was even told by the associates in the store that I wouldn't be getting it for 14-21 days. :(
 
Woohoo.....Getting closer!!

Ordered mine via AT&T's website (Premiere) at about 7:30 am EST on Friday (7th) for those who wish to know..
