no, apple has done a great job providing customers with support, knowledgeable staff, and updated statuses.

att on the other hand has staff with no support or knowledge, and a status site that doesnt work for any orders taken over the phone.

you cant tell me 10 reps who say different info are trained properly. silly, isnt it?
 
My order number begins with 1401, ordered on 10/7, received confirmation on 10/10 and order shows as being placed on 10/10. AT&T on numerous ocassions they have no idea when my order will ship. Please post when you receive a shipping notification or number.

My order number is 67.

Ok so i ordered my phone at 1:00 PM EST in the store. So that would put me in the pre 5:30PM wave and my phone is still back ordered.

ordred at 3:57AM EST 10/7 from att.com here are the results even though the person on the chat assures me I will get it on friday. I have received 3 emails from att all saying the same thing "my order is pending shipment" blah blah blah
phone better get here on-time or its going to be a very bad day for some unsuspecting ATT rep.

I've given up on AT&T. I pre ordered in store on Friday around 3:30PM PST and my order is still back ordered. Did not realize that it was back ordered until just 30 minutes ago. I'm extremely pissed and frustrated. Just going to not care about this whole situation and go play Gears of War 3 now. Everyone have fun with this situation.. best of luck to all of you. My phone will probably get here in 3 months, knowing AT&T and their services. But hey, at least I'll open it and go "Oh yeah, I forgot all about ordering this thing. Yay. -__-" instead of waiting day and night for my order just to stop being back ordered.

Ordered Black 64GB at 1:30AM PST, received order confirmation e-mail, nothing since, still says Backordered/Processing.

I feel you bros. We are the Backordered bottom of the barrell'ers.
We are the only people still at square 1. WTF
 
Are any of those people getting tracking those who ordered late on the 7th or after? I havn't see any of them confirm tracking yet. The earlier (pre- 5:30pm) are the first wave who will be fulfilled, after that you are WAYYYY out there after a few waves of in-store stock orders being fulfilled.

I may have not made that clear in the original post. wave 1 is pre-5:30 orders, after that cutoff, then it's all about the stores for a few weeks... then they will get around to the remaining orders on first-come-first-serve basis.

FYI, I may be one of the lucky late ones (I think I've seen a few others in this thread as well).

Ordered 2 black 16gb 12:30am CT on 10/8. Backorder moved from 1 to 0 yesterday. Status changed to shipped this morning with Fedex tracking number assigned (no information on Fedex yet). But I haven't received AT&T's “your order has been shipped” email so far. And my credit card shows no charges. I'll be holding my breath until I see my Fedex guy at the door.

one rep just said, "yep" to everything i asked. i flat out said, "you dont care for your work do you?"

asked her for her name as well..

How about we all start calling you to find out the status of our orders (since they have just as much information as you do), and we'll see how polite and helpful you are. It's a problem with AT&T from the top levels, not the people getting minimum wage to answer the phone.

16GB White: shows as backordered
32GB White: shows as shipped with a UPS tracking number.

I never received any T&C email or even shipping confirmation. Only received 1 order confirmation email per phone. Funny thing is that I ordered the 16GB a few minutes before I ordered the 32GB
 
Aloha everybody,

I checked this morning and my iPhone 4S has shipped finally! I just thought it was interesting that it is called "World Ease" on UPS' tracking page. I've attached a screenshot.

I have a question for those whose iPhones are also shipping. Looking at the Shenzhen entry, a selected service was indicated as not available to the destination, which in my case is Hawaii. Has anyone else seen that on their tracking pages? If so, do you have any clue as to what that means? I am by no means anxious or worried, just curious. I hope it actually gets to me on Friday and not tomorrow, as I have Friday off from work. I'm not sure if anyone will be home tomorrow when the UPS guy comes.

All I know is that my wife is stoked. She gets my iPhone 4 and I get the new iPhone 4S. Then, we'll just have to get a micro sim from the local AT&T store and she'll be good to go! (She's using my old iPhone 3G now).

Yes Sir mine says the same thing. Whew! I though I was the only one. Now it says it's in Alaska!

Ordered via phone call on 10/7 at 1pm eastern. This was a business upgrade. Says it ships today.
 
I have that too and the person told me that i didn't accept an agreement until the 9th. I know for a fact that there was no agreement ever sent to me or on the at&t website. I could've sworn that for me it was during the ordering process. Did you have anything to "accept"?

I don't recall, but I read here that it was automatic or part of the online order process. I guess those getting emails are the ones that ordered in store or on the phone.

This is getting crazy. People with orders placed well after the supposed first batch cut-off are getting shipping numbers. Meanwhile our 5 am EST 10/7 order still marked back-ordered. Time is really running out for those early orders to get prepped for Friday delivery. Not impossible but it is starting to make me itch.
