I am really frustrated with AT&T right now I ordered a 16gb white on 10/7 @ 8 am CST Recieved my conformation email at 8:06 am on 10/7 saying that my phone would be delivered on the 14th. My status still says backordered and when I called AT&T the lady told me that it is still processing. I just do not understand these people.

Nope, your email said that your phone would be delivered AS EARLY AS the 14th. Go re-read it. It does not say it will be in your hand on the 14th.
 
Ok, so I ordered (via website) on 10/09 - which seems to mean I'm SOL - however, I got an e-mail stating I would recieve the phone 10/14, and the orders status page says backordered, but also says

"Last Update:
The items in your order are not in stock. We have placed an order, and your estimated shipment date is as indicated. For more information on your order, please call us at 1-866-391-0749 "

- now there IS no estimated shipping date or anything of the sort on the order status page.. wtf? is this note giving me false hope that the previous indication of the 14th is still valid?

god this is pathetic :p

Thanks! This helps...UPS.com is now almost 7 hours behind. UPS.com shows my package still in Memphis, but Packagemapping shows that it made it to Louisville at 9:01 AM. Where it flies out to from there, I don't know. There are no scheduled flights showing on any of the flight track sites from Louisville to Rickenbacker (where UPS stuff comes in to Columbus generally) over the next day....but I have no doubt I'll have my phone tomorrow. Interesting watching the progress. Not sure why I'm doing it either, but it's sort of fun.

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS! does this mean something?
 
I ordered mine over the phone on Friday at 5:30pm and received a text on Monday saying that if I accept terms and conditions email by midnight Monday night, then I will receive my phone on 10/14.
If ATT went out of their way to text me that, shouldn't I be getting my phone tomorrow?
Every time I call customer service reps, the usual answer I get from the more intelligent ones is that I very well could receive my order tomorrow and that my order is processing "ready to ship".
I haven't received a tracking info email outside of the email that I got telling me that the order is processing for shipping and i should receive tracking info shortly.

The ATT CSR's kept telling me that they won't receive tracking info for orders until they start shipping out tomorrow.

Has anyone ordered Friday 10/7 over the phone in the afternoon and not received shipping info yet and can't check the status online cause it won't show up?

I haven't been able to get a single piece of information about my order, and I ordered over the phone at 8 AM EST on 10/7. The CSR I ordered with assured delivery on 10/14, otherwise I would not have ordered at all. AT&T has screwed this up in a big way. I've had every iPhone on launch day and never had problems like this, even when waiting in line for it for hours.
 
Still backordered. I've lost all hope. I'm not expecting shipment for at least another 1-2 weeks now. I am never trusting AT&T again. They have blatantly lied to me throughout this entire process. I'd really like to get my iPhone 4 on eBay ASAP so I can minimize my losses. I guess that's not happening.


They are out of stock and Apple won't be sending att any more phones for at least 2-3 weeks,
(and typically, there are added delays after that) -

Anyone who told you 1-2 weeks is misinformed.
I don't know that these people are lying to you, I think that they are just terribly mis-informed, and never on the same page with each other.

I am confident that I will get my 4s tomorrow because they finally took the money out of my bank account this morning.
Other that that, I am one of the few peeps who have NO TRACKING info at all.
(I think that is because I ordered over the phone with att rep)?
 
I just called the AT&T number given on the order status page and spoke to a rep. She asked me for the order #, then asked if I ordered directly through the store. "yes", I said. "OK, then we can't track it, you have to call the store directly. This # is only for e-orders". Is this accurate? I'm about to call the store and ask the deal about my back ordered status, but thought I'd see if anyone else received this response on the phone.

let us know what happened, i think im about to call my store too

CAWJr / Albatross - is there a note on your status update page? is it the same as mine? or any different?

So I called the store directly to ask about status as I was told by the CSR. I got a female rep with a snotty attitude. When I told her that I had understood that if you ordered on the launch day you were pretty much guaranteed to get the phone on launch day she said "No, I said 2 to 3 weeks". So confirmed that they would be selling them at the store tomorrow. I said, "Then why did I pre-order last week if other people are going to get them way before me?" She said I was avoiding lines by pre-ordering. I suspect that in store AT&T managers have the option of putting you on back order and then selling their allotment of phones on launch day if they want. I have to admit they were very firm with there "two to three week statement when i bought it and I just chalked it up to lowering expectations. Now I think they new they were putting me on the back order list from the get go. If so THAT SUCKS and I'll never use that store again. Can the person who knows the AT&T manager confirm my suspicions? It seems it is the in store pre- order people who are mostly getting shafted by the unscrupulous tactics of the local managers to maximize sales!!

I would tell you that you would "definitely be getting it Friday"
You would then be very happy and thank me for my time.

(does that sound far-fetched, or quite possible)?

Haha, figures. Looks like I won't be getting one tomorrow then. Let's show up at our AT&T stores tomorrow in line to get the ones that are going to be there for sale on first come first served basis, and when it's our turn in line. Ask "Where is the phone I pre-ordered" HA!
 
OKAY guys i need to confirm this.

Has anyone pre-ordered IN-STORE (either called them, or visted a store), and received tracking, or their orders are no longer in "backorder" status?

this can either mean that the iphones are STILL coming on the 14th and through some fault the status order isn't getting updated...

Or

In-store pre-orders on the 7th before cutoff are getting shafted, and taking the backseat.

I'm feeling the same thing here. But i got different message from the rep. The rep said there's no guarantee you will get it by launch day, he said he doesn't' know and not even the manager knows when i will get the phone. So in this case i don't know if they did that from the Get go. But on the other hand they should've told me/us earlier upfront about the delay and that they will sell stock on 14th. Logically if you Pre-ordered, you will get it first before anyone else... looks like it's not! FAAAAAAK at&t
 
I just talked with the AT&T Small Business department and they informed me that they have no record of my order, even though it shows as backordered online. Time to raise hell.

Again, my order was supposedly placed by my AT&T Small Business accout rep in my local AT&T store the morning of 10/7. I got a confirmation email stating it would be shipped by the 14th.
