I just spoke with an AT&T CSR about my order, and I don't think I'll get my phone tomorrow.
I ordered over the phone with AT&T on 10/7 at 7:45am PST, but I did not get the T&C email until 10/10. My order status says my order was placed 10/11, and my phone is backordered with a 21-28 day wait.
The CSR said that it all depends on the date for acceptance of T&C, and even many early orders from 10/7 would not arrive tomorrow because AT&T did not send T&C emails for several days.

I'm sure if I call back, I'll get a different answer, but I have my doubts.
I'll go to lunch now, that seemed to work last time I was waiting for my order to show up in the system online. Maybe I'll come back to a shipping notification;)

OK....I JUST CANCELLED my order from ATT....trust me I did not want to. Basically, I called 4 times before and was assured that they are basing the shipments on time ordered, not when T&C were signed.

I placed my order on 10/7 at 11 am and got T&C Monday night. I signed T&C tuesday morning. The rep said i might have to wait till next week.

I asked to cancel so i can have a fighting chance in line tonight.

she got manager on line, and cancelled my contract, because he said I might get it tommorow, but I might get it next week

After I cancelled, thats when the real answers came out..

He admitted that the "order of shipments" depends on when you signed TC, not when you placed order. So I asked why did I get my TC later than those who placed their orders after me? He said, he apologizes and thats something they need to work on. Also, a general rule of thumb is that....

If you signed T&C on Weekend, you will get it tomoorw.
" on Monday, you will get it early next week
"on Tuesday, maybe next week, probably 7-14 days.
" on Wednesday or today, you wont get it until 21-28 days

PM me for details

Im waiting in line tonight, I didnt want to but I have to.

If you ordered your phone in store, did you agree to the terms and conditions then? Or is there still a separate terms and conditions e-mail that should be sent and agreed to?

Orders a 32GB for me and a 16GB for my daughter (she's coming over from Verizon). ATT's page shows my phone the 32GB but not hers. They did it in 2 orders and only one order number shows up. Called ATT and the rep gave me the dreaded ***BACKORDERED*** mantra. I know mine will come tomorrow but not so sure about hers, and it makes me feel like a heel. She's been waiting for so long with a defective phone, I hate to tell her she may need to wait.

Think there's any chance it could still come and the updates just are lagging behind?:mad::(

And b4 you say it, she doesn't need the 32GB. She has basic needs.

BTW I ordered BOTH by 10:45am on 10/7.

Finally shipped from Ft Worth

I ordered two black 64-GB iPhone 4Ses at 3:30AM Oct 7.
They were showing backordered until a couple hours ago. Now shipped, and expected to be delivered by FedEx before 3pm tomorrow.

Woohoo!

Seems like they could have saved a lot of money by shipping then via ground, sooner. Instead, it is by standard overnight.

Has your credit card been charged (assuming your hold fell off)?

i was pretty much told that orders are based on when TC was completed, in order for the entire order to complete. in this case, those who ordered over the phone, even early Friday, will not get their phone tomorrow. sucks for those including myself.

The CSR earlier in week said it was based on when we ordered (in my case 10/7 morning) not TC signed (in my case Tuesday when I got the email)

However, like I mentioned, that is false.

I just cancelled because the manager assured me that it is based on when you signed TC....so if you signed your TC after Monday, and it still says backordered, you proabbly will get it next week or later

How did you order it? (online, phone, instore) and when did you sign the T&C?

No, interestingly, it is NOT currently showing as charged.

In fact, the pre-auth came for awhile, then went away, and I was bummed, thinking it was truly backordered.
Now, it is shipped, and there is no pre-auth, and no charge yet.

Separate e-mail.

That sucks! :(

I have been trying to tell peeps that the orders do NOT get processed until after att receives their reply to the TC e-mail -

Thanks, good to know.

OKAY guys i need to confirm this.

Has anyone pre-ordered IN-STORE (either called them, or visted a store), and received tracking, or their orders are no longer in "backorder" status?
Hi everyone. I am a newbie here. This is my first time pre-ordering any Apple product. I am upgrading from an iPhone 3GS.

I am in the same boat with other in-store orders. I ordered a white 16GB the store on Friday around 12:15 CST. I still have a 1 in the backordered column. I did online chat with someone last night who assured me that I was before the 5:30 EST cutoff so I should have my phone this Friday. However, I did not clarify during that conversation that I ordered from a store location. I have no idea if that would have changed his answer. It doesn't help my confidence level that immediately after the chat I was directed to a "satisfaction survey". I ended up feeling like he told me what I wanted to hear so I would be more likely to rate high on their little survey...

I am eager to get my new phone, but I am trying my hardest to just go with the flow.

Nope

Hmm, I've just excepted the fact mine might not come tomorrow. Although it sounds like you are about 1 step from marching with the Hippies in the Occupy movement. Don't let the anger over take you! The Dark side is dangerous!

About as from that notion as you can get. I just don't like to get played, and that's exactly how I feel right now. Isn't there anyone on here that knows the deal regarding the way AT&T and the local stores decide what the allotment of phones at each store are sold? Does a pre-order in store get treated the same way as a phone or on line order, or are they at the discretion of the local store to back order rather than use up launch day inventory? If so, that is soooo ********* up!
