AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

I'm waiting to hear the same exact thing, and so far, nobody seems to be in this camp. Not looking good. I ordered at ~8am Eastern on 10/7, got my confirmation email saying it would be here on the 14h, but ever since, it's been backordered, no tracking or anything. Bah!

I'm in the same boat as many of you... I "preordered" last Friday at 9am PST in store and my phone is still on backorder pending shipment. There are people who ordered well afafter me getting phones today. The sad part is I activated a brand new line/account for this phone. Part of me just wants to go get a Verizon phone and call it a day.
My sincere condolences to anyone who pre-ordered and isn't getting a phone today. I only received a tracking number as of late last night, and if I hadn't, I would be in-line at an AT&T store right now demanding a resolution, and I wouldn't leave until I had one. Good luck to everyone.

Just read on news site.. stores are clearing out of people... and have hundreds of iPhones sitting around still.
What I'd posted earlier in the week from the store manager is starting to look like reality... pre-orders were low priority, especially in-store pre-orders.

Seriously, this is such BS. My in-store receipt shows that I ordered at EXACTLY 10:00am when the store opened. I was the first person to pre-order in that store. Yet, people can just walk in today and purchase one while I sit here on backorder. This was bait-and-switch at its finest. Tell the customer they will have it on the 14th, but instead horde all the pre-ordered phones for walk-in customers. AT&T has not heard the last from me.

Called the ATT store directly. Told me outright they couldn't cancel preorder and I couldn't go and buy it directly if I wanted to keep my current phone number (I ported my tmobile number along with the preorder... how stupid of me).
Guy told me I could have made a new order and bought one from their stock if I hadn't ported my number and instead taken one of their temporary numbers when I made the preorder.
Only way I can have a 4S today is if I get a new phone number.
Macrumors should make a perma sticky for future releases stating to never order through the store if you want the phone on release day.

Nope. I'm still in back order too. I think we could get our phones today... Hoping!
This is proof positive that AT&T is not shipping these phones on a first come first served basis like they tell you. I ordered 50 minutes earlier and was on backorder.
You have every right to be pissed, but it was not bait and switch. They did not do this in an attempt to lock you into backorder. It was a ****** oversight in their ordering system. Take it to them, speak with you wallet! Get your money back and never do business with them again.
yup, i got told the same story. I cant even buy a new one because i already agreed to the terms and conditions when i pre ordered and unless i open a new line i cant buy one. So im basically screwed and have to wait 3 weeks.

AND was able to keep the 5$ footlong program - which was the problem when trying to order on apple.com last week, it wasn't available but today in the store everything was, 5$ footlong and 30$ no limite data.

I just got off the phone with a rep in the "online dept" (don't know how I got her).
She told me that all online ordered phones will be shipped today, (not arriving today, and was getting very pissy about it) Said I would get it monday.
I finally forced her to look up my account and check my order status, and she asked me for my "web order" - I told her I have an "order #" and a "shipping order", but had no idea what a "web order #" was, and told her that I ordered it over the phone with a att rep.
She told me this dept was for online orders only, and told me I have to be transfered to customer care. I thanked her, then hung up.

Im in the same damn situation. Went into the store I ordered it from bout 20 mins ago and they wouldn't do anything for me. Instead of making a simple switch and giving me one of the instore phones they're playing these bs games and ticking off customers. I even had the pre order shipped to the store.

Ordered through Premier and ported number from TMO. Showed Backordered this morning and Credit Card showed pending charge, meaning it hasnt shipped (people who got tracking for the pending charge taken off). So went to the store this morning and got the phone, activated the service RIGHT IN THE STORE. And the number got PORTED INSTANTANEOUSLY. Been using my iPhone4s with exisitng number for past 3 hours.
I will try to cancel, if not, wont accept the shipment or return unopened box.
Nothing is wrong! FedEx trucks drive by all the time! A truck will be there to drop off your phone soon

this is b.s., I cancelled my NO THAKNS TO AT&T botched order just fine, got a cancellation sms in about five minutes and was able to buy one in an apple store today.
