Go to the AT&T store you ordered from and cancel pre order

I was in the same boat as all of you. Ordered on the 7th in store and have been told it would take 2-3 weeks to get the phone.

I went to the same store I ordered it from which is the only way to cancel it if you ordered in store and have them cancel it and it will immediately renew your upgrade. Their systems now have a cancel button that it didn't have until today.

YOU CAN CANCEL IT AND REPLACE IT WITH AN IN STORE IPHONE.

I just got back from doing it.
 
Backorder status suddenly changed to processing!!

Yes, this has happened in the last hour. While I have no hope of receiving it today because ups and fedex have delivered other 2 phones today already, I decided to check ups under the wireless number and mail innovations and BEHOLD there is a shipment scheduled!! Finally! But no tracking number. Btw, I had done this many times before in the last few days and nothing. So I'm hopeful that it's shipping out today or Monday!!

My initial thought was to go to AT&T store after work at 3:30pm but then said eh I'll do it Friday morning. It was 6am when I got online and pre order and to my surprise everything went smoothly. I though the site was going to be laggy with everyone ordering and having errors but I didn't. Same Friday around 9am I get an email saying that my order has been processed and it was pending for shipment. That whole weekend all the items were on backorder, I kinda started to worry but never called AT&T to ask why.

Wednesday 12th I get another email with tracking number and instruction on how to activate the new phone. I got really excited but bumped out when the tracking number for FEDEX wasn't working. It wasn’t till yesterday morning when it started showing up on FEDEX site but stuck inTexas (I live in Medford, Oregon and everything goes to Portland first). It was like that till this morning when it started showing that arrived to Portland and it was in transit to Medford and so on.

I printed out the paper telling FEDEX to leave the package at the front door since I was going to be at work. It was 9:40am and look at FEDEX site and it said it was on the way to delivery, so I took a break and head home!!! To my surprise the package was there!!!

I never had any problems with AT&T so far and I have been a costumer for a long time. I really hope everyone that are having problems it gets resolve real soon and get the phones. :)
 
Schedule

My online premiere order literally just changed over to processing, although I have not received a tracking number yet. This seems to jive with what I was told ont he phone earlier, that my phone will probably ship tomorrow.

God, it feels good to not see "backordered" any more. :)

I'm just praying my schedule this weekend/next week allows for me to be home when they deliver. If they leave it on my step without requiring a signature, it WILL be stolen. :mad:

Look at us freeing up our schedules for the phone. Seriously, God made women, & steve made Iphone, both must be great marvels, I don't know yet, have to find out this monday. But it's keeping me awake even if its not here yet. My lady is beautiful white one.

Update on stores- Just visited mine they just had 9 units, i wasnt looking to get one, but touch the one they had on display. Salesman didn't know how to start Siri yet. This forum is way ahead. ( I taught him) lol.
 
wow, I really am the only person who can't get my phone today. I'm stuck on backordered. went to the store and even the manager wouldn't cancel it for me. why the **** is it only my store who are being such *******s? Tried calling 611 and the business # too, they both told me try the store.

If it is any consolation, I am in the same boat as you... My Store here at Natick Mall is ********* up as well.. Steer clear from Natick Mall Store
 
On the phone with ATT customer service right now... They are telling me that since I pre-ordered in-store, I'll have to go back to the store to cancel the pre-order. The problem is, I already went to the store and tried to cancel, and the store told me that they could not cancel my pre-order because it was pending...

I feel like I'm getting the run around.

Another option they gave me when I called the store is to go in and purchase a phone at full price, then return the one that ultimately gets shipped to me, unopened. At the time of the return, they would refund the difference between the upgrade price and full price.

If you've got a c/c and your billing cycle has just started, this might be a viable option, as the phone "should" arrive in the next couple weeks, so the credit would hit your account before your payment is due.

Just a thought...
 
I need to know whether or not I should try to get my preorder cancelled. People keep saying that if you're order status is backordered, it will be a few weeks until you get it. My item status is In Progress, Tracking Number is Pending Shipment, but says Qty Back-Ordered: 1. Does this mean I won't get it for a while? I preordered at an AT&T store.

I must be missing something. Why are you giving up your unlimited data? You can keep your existing data plan with the new phone.

Congrats on receiving your phone and you probably won't come back here to see this, but I have to ask, why did you have to say goodbye to the unlimited data? I was able to keep it for our line.

Mine is like this. Says that item status is processing but the shipment status is backordered.

Tried calling and got the run around a few times and that they couldn't cancel. Tried calling again to get another person but I was on hold to their crappy music for over half hour with no answer.

AT&T sucks so bad right now.

Sorry, can't copy screenshot. In the last few hours I went from backordered to processing to being given a tracking number.

I ordered online last Friday at 6am PST thru the Premium site. For the last week all I saw was backordered until a few hours ago.

I can click the tracking number and see it in Texas for Saturday delivery.

I need to know whether or not I should try to get my preorder cancelled. People keep saying that if you're order status is backordered, it will be a few weeks until you get it. If yours is backordered, there's no telling exactly when you will get it.

I recommend going to the store to try and cancel. Just DON'T cancel your preorder until they tell you in the store that they have the model you want.
 
After having at least 10 different employees tell me 10 different things all week, this last guy said 14-21 days, and as we argued that I placed my order on the 7th at 9am, he refreshes and lo-and-behold, a tracking order magically pops up for the 1st time ever, and my 4s will be delivered tomorrowsat by 12 noon-

Someone today told me that ALL PHONE ORDERS were going to be shipped today, not arriving today -
(a miscommunication or some chit he said)?



I think I'm gonna go into att, get 10 new 4s and new numbers on a family plan.Then immediately sell all the phones on Craig's list, then stop paying att, tell them to pound salt and could care less if it lowers my 798 credit score a few points -

When I pre oder online and when I was going through the phone plans it said that I needed to change the the data plan because it was not compatible. I tried to leave the unlimited plan and send the request but it always came back to tell me to choose another data plan. :( so I really don't know, maybe I was unlucky with that lol, it's ok $5 less on my bill more Starbuck coffee!! lol

Yes, it's way back early in this thread. You go to ups tracking, tracking by reference, use wireless number as reference number, fill in zip, and voila!

Of course, if your device was intended for fedex, this will obviously not work.

I ordered 2 iPhones (16GB White and Black One) on 10/10 at about 3:30pm. I have been calling CSR's all day for the past couple of days to try and get an order status update after ordering it directly from a CSR Manager. I couldn't even access my order for a status update online, I had to call in. They still said "3-4 weeks until delivery." I said that was unacceptable, because when I originally placed the order, the manager told me I would receive it by Wednesday at the latest.

I even went down to the local AT&T store with no luck canceling my order.

Well, I just received an email with tracking number for priority overnight for tomorrow morning deliver!! YAY!!!!!!
 
Dudes I went to ATT and got my phone Im stoked :D

At first they told me they could not cancel my preorder (mine is pending shipment ordered 130am PDT 10/7). then I told them yes you can I was told it could be done over the phone (which I hadnt, just thanks to this forum LOL).
So after convincing them otherwise and having the rep on hold for a while they were able to cancel my preorder and give me my new 4s within a few mins of that awesome. almos enough to redeem yourself ATT.. almost lol.. but all in all I do walk away happy

Good luck to everyone.. but if you are still on preorder, go to your ATT store and go get one right now, I waited in a 5 person line, was like 5 mins (In Encinitas, Ca

Are you kidding me? I just got back from the Encinitas Store (on Leucadia, right?) and said the exact same thing and they wouldn't help me.
 
Got my 4S in mail. Tried to activate but it says, "Order number not found." On hold with Premier support...

I would take the time and contact a CSR and request they change you back to your unlimited plan... It shouldn't take arguing as I am sure you are not the only one who could not pick unlimited on your online order and placed it online anyways. Just politely, but firmly, request that they change your data plan BACK to the unlimited plan.

So I too pre-ordered in store on the 7th. My phone is still on back order. I went to the AT&T store and explained the situation. The lady there told me there was no way to cancel my pre order. But, what I can do is return the phone when I get it. Just don't open it. When I pre-ordered it they couldn't port my # because there was no phone, so they just created me a new # and were going to port it when I got mine in the mail. So as long as I don't activate that account, I'm good. I am so glad I called and found out they still have them in stock and was able to get one today! It's worth trying if you know you aren't going to get yours in the next few days!

They told me this too, but there is a $35 restocking fee that they would not waive.
 
YOU CAN CANCEL YOUR BACKORDERED PHONE!

Don't let them tell you that it can't be done. You need to find someone willing to do some work. Mentioning "Order Reversal" seemed to get them moving in the right direction. I also told them about calling 4 local at&t stores and them all having phones available. An hour later, my order was cancelled and I walked out with a new phone. Keep trying and BE NICE! They have reports about the number of times you're calling so no point trying to find someone who doesn't know. Just explain your excitement and hope that you got the right person.

This was a phone order placed through 611 on 10/9 and due to be delivered in 21-28 days.

I recommend calling ATT and asking them to keep your unlimited data plan.

Don't give it up without a fight!:)
 
So I pre-ordered my phone on the 7th (afternoonish) and its not shipped yet. I called AT&T and they said I ordered it within the 7-14 days range. So i'm bit bummed I didn't get it today but would like to know when I should be home to sign for it.
