Just Got It

Just got my 4S a couple hours ago. 2 Problems:

1) Siri doesn't understand anything I'm saying... wtf...
2) AT&T apparently had to open a case to get my unlimited data plan back since the online option was 2Gb only.

Yeah, it was nice of him. He definitely made a point to let me know that he spent $94 to ship it overnight with Saturday delivery. PLUS the free AppleCare... they spent almost $200 on me. I have my tracking number and it is departing for Phoenix within the hour.

I didn't request any of this. I definitely appreciate the service, but it actually makes things a little more hectic for me as I now have to be home tomorrow to sign for the delivery. I called the Phoenix AT&T store earlier and they said they still had plenty of the 64GB models in stock. So I could have simply gone there tonight to get one, assuming they would have canceled my pre-order.

I think there are more phones available than the media would lead you to believe. They might be sold out by the end of the weekend, but if you haven't received yours yet, then I would highly recommend trying to cancel your pre-order and going to your local AT&T or Apple Store.
 
Guys should have read up on how preorders work. I'm trying to give you info to avoid frustration and instead I'm getting typical self entitled responses. Go to a store and stop calling, and if they ran out wait : your life isn't over. ;-)
 
:(So i guess im the odd man out who ordered mine on the 8th...? I know ive read that some people who ordered on the 10th of the month already have tracking numbers...
Maybe only people who preordered on the 7th are posting now. Sad day.
 
Just giving you guys a little taste of what we have dealt with today from callers quoting this forum. We have ceased caring about customers and their 28 day shipping. Nothing will be done, check Craigslist if you need it now.
 
omg! part 2! I just called AT&T CS rep. Explained situation. He said "since the phone is in backorder they cannot refuse you to cancel the order in store. so go cancel it at the store" I said I just got back from the store and they couldn't cancel it (i actually didn't mention it was on backorder while in the store, oops). He mentioned how AT&T CS reps got a notice today that if the phone is backordered, the retail store can cancel the order by calling AT&T MRCP (or something like that) and let the customer buy in store. I didn't know having it backordered made all the difference. So I said can you tell them that? He said he would! Tried calling and got no answer. So he said that he would call ME and have me drive down to the store and he would talk to THEM.
Well once I got to the store, all the lights were out, I thought - ****. Ill try the store thats another 10 minutes away. On my way, rep calls me back and I explain the situation and to have him try the other store. He does and calls me back as Im pulling in saying only the store I preordered from can cancel the order.
SO I started to drive back home since I thought the store was already closed. I pass it on my way home and see the lights are on - then go off. So i take my chances. Go to the door and knock, girl comes out and says they lost power - they're closed. 2 hours before they officially do. I said all I wanna do is talk to the manager i spoke to before and explain the situation I'm in now. She refused and said she's busy and if i wanted her business card. I said no and asked again. Refused. Manager was across the store. My frustration is kicking in. I say "sweetheart (total mistake), I'm going to talk to the manager. Just asking a question". Well that set her off - "MINDYYYY THIS GUY DOESNT UNDERSTAND WE'RE CLOSED AND WANTS TO TALK TO YOU - AND CALLED ME SWEEETHEART" I start apologizing. Sales reps start yelling to me "they're closed". Until one guy comes and says "ill talk to him". Takes me outside.
He was next to the counter on my first visit a few hours ago and knew the situation. Super nice guy. I apologized again for the girl. He said "she'll get over it" lol. I tell him about my phone actually being backordered and the MRCCP thing or whatever they can reach out to that the rep told me about. He wasn't aware of this. Told me he's working tomorrow. Would put a phone on hold for me. Took down my number and said he will call me in the morning. He said he would ask his District Manager about it and if he says no, he'll call AT&T himself for me. Again, SUPER nice guy.

So thats where Im at now lol. So frustrating. But looks like I'm getting a phone tomorrow.

If this was AT&T's first iPhone launch, this could be forgiven, but its NOT. Its the 5th launch! And they always seem to mess it up somehow. Look at the Verizon and Sprint threads. Are they as negative as this one? NO. This is Sprint's 1st, so we expect them to have problems. Its Verizon's 2nd launch. So sorry AT&T NO EXCUSES!
 
Just buy one at the store and cancel payment on your card or wait till you get the original one and send it back
 
Ceased caring about customers? At no point in your career should you ever say that, I don't care if you bus tables like I do or work at AT&T.

I'm really not a fan of AT&T right now.

My original upgrade date was 11/25. Only the phone Sales Department would let me upgrade early ($299). I'm only venting on this forum. I try my best not to take it out on you guys/girls when I call. Its not your fault, but still frustrating.

When did you preorder? Call customer care ask for retentions and have them notate your account citing per customer rules that you will upgrade at the store and punk the manager. Don't call sales :)

Phone was ordered by phone by a manager on Saturday (a day late and a dollar short?).

wasnt trying to be negative. Im just trying to find some sort of answers...no one replies either because they are dealing with their own situation or because, again, im not part of your guys' group who preordered on the 7th from ATT. I preordered from The apple online store on the 8th...:(:(:(
 
Either way, when they say 14-21 days, does that mean 14-21 from the date of order or from today (release day)?
 
I ordered a Black 64 GB in-store at 5pm central on the 7th. It's still on backorder and Reps tell me they have no idea when it will ship, only that I just missed the cut-off.

The AT&T store closest to me still has a few Black 64GB iPhones left, and I'm debating calling up and getting them to cancel my order so I can pick one up in-store. Has anyone had luck with this? Was it worth it or too much of a headache? I don't want to find out I have to wait a day before I can purchase again or something and then get totally screwed when they run out of phones and I no longer have an order.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I had ordered a 32GB white on 10/7 (Friday) at 4PM IN STORE. I was stuck in quanity backordered 1, and no one able to tell me when I'd get my phone. So at about 6:30PM local time today, walked into AT&T store (a different one than the one I had placed the pre-order just to get rid of that factor) and told them the deal. They originally told me I couldn't cancel the pre-order but after looking at it, they said it was still processing and hadn't shipped so they could. They cancelled it, and I took one of their 28 white 32GB phones in stock... the whole pre-order business from the AT&T store was total crap. I've learned my lesson and will be ordering straight from Apple next year. So, I say do it.

Hmm I went to the store and got one myself but they said there is no way they could cancel my backordered pre-order. :mad:
 
Believe me, there are literally 10 different order tracking systems and each department only has access to a few. Ask for ssg and estore only...never sales! Only call us for new lines!
 
NO phone - fedex sucks - misrouted package

My husband's phone came but mine was routed wrong. They won't deliver tomorrow either.

I ordered at the same time as my wife. Hers arrived this morning. Mine still showed backordered all day.

After work I go to the AT&T store and ask if they have the model iPhone I wanted. They do. I tell them I have a preorder from the website I want to cancel and I want to purchase the one they have in store.

They put me on the phone w/ att. I get transferred to the premiere line. They tell me straight off I have to wait for the phone to arrive and then refuse it if I want to cancel my preorder. So I'm expected to wait up to 28 days to cancel my preorder? Yeah right. I tell them that's unacceptable. She talks to someone and comes back to say it's canceled and asked what else she can do. I say I want confirmation that my upgrade was restored. After a few minutes she says it'll take 2 weeks. I say no. She comes back later and says 24 hrs. Finally I say ok.

I talk to the guy at the store and ask if there's anything else he can do for me. He gets a manager to see if he can hold a phone for me for when the upgrade is restored tomorrow. Manager says do an override on the upgrade and give it to me right now. While the guy is working on the override he finds out he can reverse the upgrade right then.

I walk out with a black 64 gb iPhone 4s. I was pleased with the help I got from the att store.
