Has anyone received their phone via FedEx today? My tracking number says on the truck for delivery today but there are many people here saying they don't deliver today! If they don't, can I go in store and pick it up?

Today (Saturday, Oct-15, at 11:11 AM EDT) I received my iPhone 4GS Wht-64GB from Fedex! Going to set it up now.

A little bit of patience served me without doing the store-swap trick.

AFAIK, The 3GS did. It's on my desk right now.
 
Can other stores cancel your in-store order, or is it only the store where you placed the pre-order that can do that?

Absolutely. If they tell you otherwise they are lying.

I pre-ordered at the Corporate store in Killeen, TX at 0958am on 7 Oct.

I canceled my pre-order at the corporate store in Temple, TX and walked out with a shiny new 4GS at 11am on 14 Oct.

2 different stores and store 2 WAS able to cancel the Direct Fulfillment pre-order of store 1.

AT&T is returning your sanity and some of your hair you probably lost (like the rest of us) from putting you on backorder, telling you it would be 14 to 21 days before you should expect it, and not shipping it to you by launch day, even though you pre-ordered...

I wish I could have some of that back... along with some dignity. I need some of that. I has no dignity. LOL...

I ordered at an AT&T website at 6am 10/7. Now the money I spent on the iPhones is back in my account with no trace of the pending status with AT&T.

Because the Westfield NJ Manager is a jerk and wouldn't let me cancel my pre-order and buy one of his stock. I called a few times and complained loudly to corporate. No one can do anything but the store, they tell me. But the store won't I tell them. Sigh. Stay far away from the AT&T store in Westfield NJ. Once they lock you in with the contract, they could care less about you. They'd rather sell that phone to the guy that walks in and make you wait for yours. Customer satisfaction is a apparently a foreign concept to this store manager.

I was having the same problem with the Morristown NJ store. I called a CR rep who told me I could cancel and I told him I just came from the store and they refused. When he explained how they can cancel I asked if he could tell them himself - he did. Called himself. Ask a rep to do that for you!

If you really want the 16GB 4s, you may have to wait this backorder out... Most of the posts here as well as my own experience show that this was by far the most popular as they are pretty much out of stock everywhere. All my store had instock were the 32 and 64 GB in both colors, and this was by 11am yesterday.

Got my 10/7 preorder at 8 am this morning. I hope everyone else's shows up very soon. As for the preorder, it's going back to the att store in a little while. So, if anyone in Wichita, KS needs a white 64gb, then go to the east Kellogg store sometime early this afternoon. :D
 
Was told I'd get my phone yesterday, Saturday, but never got a tracking number. Now I get the email (sent to the previous email address I had on file, changed in the last week because they never sent the T and C) that it was shipped today and I'll get it Monday.

I'm really sorry for the people who are being told it'll be weeks and I hope you are able to walk into a store and buy a phone. Being at the mercy of att in this mess was an incredible time-waster.

The forum helped in that I realized I was not alone.

Edited: I noted the tracking email says it is supposed to arrive before 10:30 AM Monday - Yea for that at least.
Anyone who is having trouble, don't rely on the computer messages, get on the phone and ask nicely to speak to a higher rep. Ask for someone who is authorized to get into the system and correct the problems. They do exist.

I can't cancel my order because my account is through my father and he doesn't want to mess with it. Called AT&T and they said still backordered (pre-ordered on the 7th). I hope they are wrong. Tired of getting texts from people saying they got their 4s. :rolleyes:
 
Ordered 12:00pm PST on 10/08

I ordered our two phones (both white, 1 16gb and other 32gb), at around 12:00pm PST on 10/08 on att.com.

When checking the order status at att.com. Shows Status: In Progress, Tracking Number: Pending Shipment, and Qty Back-Ordered: 1.

However, when I call att, they said my order is ready to be shipped, however because of the number of phones to be shipped, it may not ship today, but early next week.

Reverse Ordering Instore Works

Hi All,

Thanks to all participants on this forum.

I would like to confirm that for my ATT Instore order which was back ordered, I was able to reverse upgrade my order and get the phone. Thanks to all who offered this route as an option.

I understand the pains of folks who are still in back order. My suggestion is that if you are in back order and you ordered inshore please go and speak to the store manager and politely explain your situation. My store manager here at ATT Natick Mall did the needed and helped us cancel the back order and got us iPhone 4s phones in hand.

To all who are still suffering my sympathies are with you and I sincerely hope your order issues get resolved at the earliest and that you are able to experience the Apple iPhone 4s at the earliest without delay.

UPS number, still waiting for delivery info

I have my UPS tracking number as of October 14th at 12:48 AM, but it is still showing that the information was sent, but not the package. Called CS this morning and they claim, the package was sent and they can't see anymore information than I do on the tracking page. that it is probably in transit and to just keep checking the tracking status. Anybody else in this situation? The pending charge is still on my credit card and has not transferred to the billed page. I thought they billed when they shipped???

I'm actually out of town on vacation and called a store near my hotel and they had some in stock but they also told me I had to cancel at the store I pre-ordered at because there's no way they can look it up in their system...is this true?

Received my phone this am via FedEx. They've done saturday delivery for quite a while (@ no extra charge).
Not sure about being able to stop into a store to pick it up-- usually have to pick it up at the hub if you miss the delivery and don't want to wait til monday.

I was in the backorder-hell crowd until I got tracking info early yesterday evening. (Pre-ordered online 10/7 @ 2:30 est) Absolutely NO updates for a whole week and then, boom- it's shipped! Got it barely over 12 hours later.
When things did update online to reflect the 'shipped' status, the timeline was like this:
1st- Called ATT 1800 # and the guy says "should see it tomorrow" but no tracking info available yet. "Wait for the email"
2nd- 3 hours later ATT order tracker online says 'shipped'
3rd- 20 minutes after ATT online tracker updated, I got the email from Premier
4th- 14 hours later- phone in hand

Good luck to all still playing the waiting game.
 
I preordered, Oct 9th, in Apple store and shipping was between Oct 21st and 31st. My acct. has not been charged. The statis never has changed. My friend is at the AT&T store at South Center Tukwilla WA. right now buying a black 32gb and will call me when it's a done deal. The have 8 phones there. Next time, no pre order for me.

AT&T wins

Tried calling the AT&T store at which I placed my order (in-store, 10/7, 12:00pm PST, 32gb black). They are still feeding me the same story - "we can't cancel pending preorders."

After having called the 1-800 number three times (they each told me I'd have to cxl in-store orders in the store at which I purchased - I even had one rep call my store for me, to no avail), visited the brick-and-mortar store twice (Lincoln and Wilshire in Santa Monica), and called other stores around the area (who told me I'd have to go to the specific store at which I placed the order), the "order reversal" technique seems to be nothing more than a myth, especially here in West LA.
